Pros I've seen great improvements in my acne after taking about 80 pills over the last several months (2 per day). In fact, my back and face are now practically clear of acne. The redness in my face is also going away.
Cons Makes me very nauseous if I don't drink at least 2 bottles of water and 2 pieces of bread with the pill. It is extremely important to drink and eat prior to and after taking the pill. Otherwise, watch out the stomach ache is intense.
Bottom line If taken correctly, this medicine will eventually work and clear up stubborn acne; especially for adult acne.

It is important NOT to go out in the sun without sunscreen protection. This medicine will cause your skin to burn extremely fast and has been known to cause blisters on toes and hands.

Pros Very affordable. Very few side effects if taken correctly.
Cons NONE
Bottom line PLEASE READ THIS before you get discouraged reading negative comments about doxycycline. I too was very hesitant about taking Doxy until I decided to try it for myself. I take 100 mg. 1x daily and my skin looks wonderful!!! Here are some tips on taking Doxy without suffering from nasty side effects:
1) Always take after a full meal and lots of water!!
2) try taking it the same time everyday.
3) For women- eat lots of cultures (yogurt) to prevent yeast infections.
4) Have a positive attitude and remember that there is NO cure for acne...this just helps to keep your acne from getting worse and to calm some existing acne. My skin is honestly about 75% better. Oh and using a topical like benzoyl peroxide/retin a micro/ duac really helps to accelerate the healing of acne. Getting biweekly detoxifying facials really really help too!!!

Pros Works well if taken as directed and results seen just after a few days.
Cons Major nausea is felt if taken on an empty stomach, and you have to drink alot of water with this medication
Bottom line This works, my face has cleared up w/ in 3 weeks, and i had moderate acne. Still get occassionaly white heads, but no more of the ugly red, painful break outs that leave scars. Worth the try, and it is covered by insurance.

Pros Extremely fast working! Drying cyst up within 24 hours.
Cons None yet.
Bottom line I was put on this last night because I had a 2-inch wide, 1-inch high cyst located near my left eye. Instead of cutting it open, the doctor wanted me to try Doxy and return in 48 hours to have it drained if it was not improving.
Upon waking this morning, it is 3 times smaller than it was when I went to bed. I have used many antibiotics and have never had such success before. Try it...it can't hurt!

Pros It helped minimize the pimples but not completely clear them, although i'm still waiting for the full effect, also on erythromycin which helps but can dry out skin sometimes.
Cons i dont know if its because of the medicine, but i know have mild scarring so i've been using retrinal which is helping.
Bottom line i would try it. it helps and if you have mild acne it is worth a shot

Pros It seems to dry thing up well.
Cons Takes awhile to begin working.
Must drink with lots of water.
Don't take it in the morning without eating some type of food or you will feel awful
Bottom line I have been on this and duac gel for 6 weeks now. The doctor says it will take 8-12 weeks until I see full results. I can see an improvement but not a full improvement yet.
