Pros: It worked well after about 2 -3 months, made my skin clear for about a year. Cons: stops working after a year. Bottom Line: It's an antibiotic, so you can't depend on it forever. After the effect became uselss for me, I started getting worse acne than ever before or the same before i tried it. i used it along with a topical prescription cream and rosacea facewash, so there are a lot of factors. but it only kept my skin clear for a little while until it stopped working. Pros: clear my skin in 1-2 month! Gave me a brighter complexion. Cons: Did not leave lasting results. Acne came back once i stopped using it. Bottom Line: THIS IS NOT A QUICK FIX!! taking this requires patience and committment but IT DOES WORK!!!!! Ive taken them twice on two separate occasions. the 2nd time around i consistently took them as prescribed every day, drank 1/2 gallon of water every day(about 8 glasses. they sell the bottles @ walmart), washed my face 3x a day, along with Cetaphil moisturizer and a bleaching cream only on my dark spots, as prescribed by my Dr. After about 5-6 weeks MY SKIN WAS FLAWLESS!! my coworkers even noticed and i had new found confidence...On the down side, i stopped taking it bc i was told that being on antibiotics too long is bad for your health, and my breakouts returned. HOWEVER, if i had kept up with the rest of my regimine this may not have been the case. Since then i have taken ACCUTANE and the results were NOT as good as Doxycyclene. I would def. give this another shot, but be prepared to change ur diet along with it!! HEALTHY FOOD, NO SMOKING AND LOTS OF WATER> Recommended: Yes Usage: Ashley has used this item for a few months. Pros: I haven't used it for long to state any pros, but I have to stay it doesn't cause skin irritation like some products do. Cons: causes severe skin peeling. It hasn't worked it's magic fast for me. Bottom Line: I have been using this product now for 5 days now and when I use it there is a slight itching and my skin starts to compress and there is a severe skin peeling. As for helping my acne, my mom keeps saying it is improving but I can hardly say anything. Still I haven't used to long to say it works well or not. I read that you need to use it for at least 2 weeks to see slight improvement and 12 weeks for full effect. I haven't had any stomach upsetting problems. I keep taking it in the morning with my breakfast and I also use the Gel (peroxide). I also eat a bit of yogurt every day (eat yogurt and it will help your stomach). Your stomach keeps getting upset because the antibiotic kills all the good and bad bacteria and the yogurt will provide the bacteria for your stomach again. Also take bottle of Acidophilus 250 mg along with your antibiotic because it will keep the bacteria in your stomach balanced and prevent infection. Pros: None that I have experienced. Cons: Horrible stomach pains if I eat anything, Upset stomach with or without eating, Skin got worse three days after taking it, extreme loss of appetite (can't eat without feeling sick or bad stomach pain) Bottom Line: I think I may stop taking this all together. I have had a severe stomach pains that start 15 minutes after taking the pill. They come and go all day, but are the worst right after taking the pill. I have gotten sick from it with or without eating. When I do eat, I feel sick or stomach pains, so I don't eat more than 1 small meal a day. It's pretty bad when you have to force yourself to eat something. When I went to the doctor, I had one pimple. She prescribed 150mg once a day. Within the first two days of treatment, my skin broke out severely. I have not had acne this bad in over 10 years. I am debating whether to stop taking it. It is also on the expensive side for maintenance type medication. With insurance it was $45. Without, it was over $400. I also had a rebate card that took it down to $25. Pros: It started to clear up my acne over night. No break outs. Reduces redness and what not. Cons: If u take on a empty stomach, yr prolly gunna feel nasusea. I feel a little dizzy everytime i take it in the morning because i cant take it with diary and cereal is the quickest and easiest thing in the morning. Bottom Line: Try it out. I hear it doesnt work for some people and i hear it works miracles for others. Havnt been on it long buh no complaints yet. My dermo perscribed me with Epiduo to use as well. That works amazing. After a feel days my face was almost completely smooth. Removed redness in a few hours. Recommended: Yes Usage: Jaden has used this item for about a week. Pros: Clear skin No new pimples Cons: takes a while to get in your system. about 3 months for full effects but totally worth clear skin. upset stomach if no takeen with food Bottom Line: This is a great antibiotic for people wanting there acne to fade away. just remember that clear skin just doesnt happen over night. stick with it for the whole 3 months and you will see a whole different face.(Clear Skin) Recommended: Yes Usage: T,H has used this item for a few months. Pros: cleared up my skin on my chin Cons: stomach pain, dry skin, not workin Bottom Line: Ive been on doryx for about to weeks now (150x once a day) and ive also been using Epiduo along with it.I started to notice it looked a lot better the first week but then, during the second week i broke out really bad! i dont know wat to do. my deretoligist told me to use theis for a month and then we are going to accutane. id rather not, but i think it the only way. this drug may work for some people... but not all. i wish i would work for everyone. Pros: haven't seen any yet. Cons: stomach is upset, somewhat like a burning feeling. I did throw up once when I didn't eat anything before taking the pill. Now I eat, but my stomach still gets upset once in a while. Bottom Line: I have been using doxy (100mg) for three weeks and I think my acne has gotten a little worse. I guess I will give it a try, since many people have stated that it takes at least three months to completely work. Recommended: Yes Usage: Reviewer has used this item for a few weeks. Pros: I have been taking doxycline for 5 days and and my face is clearing up right before my eyes. I had acne when i was 16 and for some reason it showed up again out of the blue. My face is a lil dry but healing. Cons: Some say it gives them sensitivity to sunlight but i am a naturally tan person and never even had sunburn to begin with. When i was 16 it made me sick but now that im 20 i never feel sick wile taking it. Bottom Line: This works great for me I know my acne is due to random hormonal imbalances probably from taking birthcontrol. I dont think this would work as quickly on others but it is a sure way to clear up acne over time. When i was 16 i took it for several months and after taking i got acne again but it wasnt as bad it eventually cleared up over time. Then came again now that im 20. Id recomend this to anyone with acne it is really effective my doctor tould me it may take 2 months to see results and only 5 days have passed and i have no new pimples and all of my old ones are healed. My skin is flaky but i know its from the healing Id rather have a few patches of dry skin than acne any day. Recommended: Yes Usage: Amber has used this item for about a week.
