Doxycycline (Antibiotic) Reviews

I've been on Doxycycline and other oral antibiotics a few times for acne. Every time I've taken an oral antibiotic for acne the following things happen:
1) The acne clears up after about 2 weeks and things are going well for about a month.
2) Acne starts coming back regardless of still taking the antibiotic.
3) Stomach aches
4) Yeast infections

Then, I get all upset because its not working and go off of it. I will never use an oral antibiotic for acne again because it isn't safe to be on it for a long time and it just doesn't work all that well. Why bother

Been on it for 3 months... Cleared my face about 65% ... use BP for the rest...

Doxy takes months to start to clear up the bacti. in the body... so if it has not worked yet give it more time ... my friend has been on it for 5 months and has started seeing a difference...

OHHH and if you use any tobacco products it will make acne worst or stay the same... i stoped smoking and my acne got worst for a week then cleared up the nest week, no joke!

i feel its quite good. it cleared up my skin a little and i am still on the drug. and its cheap too!

I have been on Doxycycline for a couple months now, it has helped clear my skin up a little i suppose, but i still break out around my chin area. I am on a 50MG dosage i think i need it higher to work better for me.

Hurt my stomach...alot. Got horrible indigestion. Something interesting is that if I used 2 of the 50mg capsules, my face would clear up, but if I use 1 of the 100mg tablets, I see no results. I think it either the form the drug is in, or the varience in generic brands.

been on the drug for about two weeks. hate to have to take a pill daily, but anything that helps right?

experienced the nausea at first, but has since gone away. the bottle reads to take with water only, but i find that i need something to eat with it. even with out insurance the prescription is reasonably priced. ive seen small improvement in the acne, but its only been a couple weeks.

Doxy cleared my skin up completly; however, the downside was that it only lasted a few months before I started to break out again. I also would get sick if I didn't eat with it.

My acne was worst..I carried out for more than five years..most of the people said the acne will go byitself..well and then it didn't go it's started to come all over my body shoulder, chest ..finally i went to see a derm and I have used doxycycline for 3 months..now its all cleared but still not satisfied with marks:(:)now i think again its started to appear is it good to continue this medicine for long period of time? guess its not safe after reading all these messages.

I've been on it for a week and a half, and my skin has gotten MUCH worse. I took accutane and tetracycline and both worked almost immediatly. I wouldnt reccomend this.

Was taking Doxycycline for 3 weeks and developed a severe case of esphogitis. No one had mentioned this side effect to me and I had to really look around to find any info on it. It was mostly my fault for taking the pills close to my bedtime, but it was very painful. On the brightside I lost several pounds because eating hurt too much. lol
