I was on Minocycline for a year and it was WONDERFUL but i just had to switch to Doxy because the derm said that i would get blue tissue if I stayed on minocycline. So far it hasnt made a difference at all in my skin.. but every time i take this stupid pill i feel sick for about an hour... headache.. nausia... it really is horrible. Im gunna try to stay of this for a little while to see if these side effects go away... but for now this isnt that great.

I started using Doxy, 100 mg, once a day, about two months ago. The Derm also gave me Differin to use in the morning. I have moderate acne, and after a month and a half my acne has completely cleared up! I didn't see much result the first month, but after that it just seemed to really clear up. I had no side effects, and was even in the sun a lot. Even with light skin, I only burned slightly and then tanned. I don't use Differin everyday, so that's why I really think it's the Doxy that's working. I feel so much more confident now!

After reading some of the reviews here, I was hesitant about starting doxycycline, especially after I read about all the side affects. I have mild acne, and wasn't sure if doxycycline was worth it. However, I decided to give it a try. So far so good. My doctor recommended that I take twice daily, however, I decided to start on one a day to see if the medicine had any side affects. I have had none so far, and I have been on it for about a week. I take it with food, and I drink lots of water. I havn't seen great improvements, but I can tell somethings starting to happen. I will soon begin to take the recommended twice daily, hopefully my skin will begin to heal faster, and I will continue to have no side affects. I recommend this product for anyone who thinks its worth a try.

I've been on Doxy for over 5 yrs. It's one of the few things that actually work for me. I tried every possible home remedy (including elimination diets) and then finally went to the doctor. It works really well! I wish I had just gone to the doctor in the first place, as now I have pockmarked cheeks from past breakouts.

I have had no problems at all with stomach issues. Just follow the directions. Also don't miss a day, your acne will come back with a vengeance. I still get a papule now and again, which is bothersome, but it's certainly a lot better with the doxy and I have a lot more confidence now.

I've been on Dorxy which is 50 mg of Doxycline now for about 7 months. One tablet every morning after breakfast. It's done a fairly good job on my acne, it's gone from moderate-high to mild, I still get the odd breakout but it's nothing like it was. It's done a great job to keep my acne under control. I used to combine it Differin Gel, but found it was much to expensive and I wasn't getting the greatest results. I'm now combining my daily Doxycycline with 'The Regimen' and find my skin is looking clearer every day! It's a mild acne drug for mild acne, people with very strong, deep, painful acne should NOT be on this product, it's a good product for moderate acne sufferers who want to keep it under control. It's a VERY slow acting drug, so if you stick with it you WILL see results. However it's best combined with regimen.

As far as side effects go, I haven't particularly noticed anything to drastic but perhaps that's because I'm on a low dosage. I get light nausea ocasionally, and sometimes feel a little drained, but it doesn't effect me really in anyway. It hasn't effected my appetite or anything, I've never vomited once on this drug. The worst side effect would probably be stomach cramps, I've had a few bad ones around about once a month but it's really nothing a sit down and a glass of water can't take care of. As far as sensitive skin, I live in Australia and began the dosage at Summer time, I noticed the skin under my eyes got a little red, but I still managed to get an amazingly deep, golden brown tan without any burning.

All in All I like this drug. It's light, expensive, no harsh side effects, it won't completely clear up your skin on its own, but it does a great job controlling your Acne.

I was on the magic Roaccutane for a year 4 years ago. And now I have moderate acne skin...
I have been on doxy for a month or so... not sure if that's simply mental impression, but I think my skin has improved. Nearly no new breakouts. And luckily, I never had those side-effects like vomitting, headaches n suchlike as what others have been complaining of.

It really depends on which type of acne u have:
from my experience, doxy can only kill those pimples of bacteria infection. I dunno if u guys have other types of acne.. but I get those on cheeks whenever i feel damn upset or down. That type doesn't have white stuff but ONLY BLOOD inside. Doxy can't for sure remove this type.

I found Doxycycline cleared up the small bumps but made bigger outbreaks worse. I have decided to stop the treatment early.

I began having severe cystic acne when I was around 17 years old. I was put on two courses of Accutane which is a miracle drug, but not a permanent solution. I'm 28 now and I still have acne, though not near as bad. I recently was put on Doxycycline and it had no effect at all, aside from the occasional stomach ache. (make sure you take it with food or milk.) I've tried everything in the past, but the one thing that definitely works for me now is Dove Soap for Sensative Skin. I wash twice daily with this and use an occasional spot treatment of Benzomycin (prescribed by a Dermatologist). Everyone's acne is different and it's just a matter of figuring out what works for you.

Unfortunetly, Doxycycline didn't work for me. It actually made my acne worse for a little while, then went back down to regular in a week. I once took two because I missed a dose, and I ended up throwing up. It just keeps you from eating!

I just started taking Doxycycline..it's only been about 5 days or so but I can tell that it's starting to work for me. I was getting EXTREMELY painful cystic acne, typically on my forehead. Since I've started the medication the painful bumps are dissipating. Although my acne isn't gone (it's been way too short of a time to expect that), the painfulness has definitely went away. I am also using .0025% Tretinoin cream at night along with the Doxycycline.

HOWEVER, I'm having a really weird side effect that I haven't seen anyone else mention - HEARTBURN/CHEST PAINS. It's really intense...when I drink/eat & swallow it feels like the food/water gets stuck in my chest. I have had it everyday since I started the med and it hurts bad!! Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I even called my pharmacist and she said this is not a listed side effect of the med. If this continues I'll definitely have to switch to something else. And....I just got a yeast infection too, which I saw a few other women say they experienced from this drug.

DAMN...THE PRICE OF BEING BEAUTIFUL!!!!! :(
