This product worked great for about 4 months then just quit working altogether. Now I am stuck trying other antibiotics that won't work while my acne is slowly getting worse.....what to try next....

I started taking doxy for 2 weeks now during the 1st week the side effects were bad. I was feeling sick had stomach pains and heartburn.Went to my pharmacist who said that i should take it with a meal at regular times, at lunch with a glass of milk. And thankfully it does work!!

I've been on Doxycycline for 2 yrs. Like most people have said, it reduces the amount of acne, but doesn't eliminate it. I still get massive flare ups during stressful times. When I take it on a regular schedule, it works best. I am taking 2x 100mg a day. Extreme heartburn, and lactose intolerance are 2 side effects I experience from this drug. I've tried everything else I can that doesn't cost too much, and this is the one I've settled on.

Doxycyline is a very good anti-biotic, it cleared my face up in about 1 and a half months. Don't think its not working right away, the key is t GIVE IT TIME!! It may take up to 3 months for it to work, thats how long a pimple forms before you actually see it arising on your skin. Thats why you may break out more when you take it, its cleaning your skin out, but other than the break-out I recommended Doxycycline to anybody who has had enough suffering from pimples and who doesn't want to try Accutane. Good Luck!

Has anyone the age of 40 taking this drug had problems with their teeth turning yellow? That I would not be able to tolerate. I am almost afraid to start this drug. I have very mild acne from working out too much. Can I just take this for a month and stay off of it. I never had acne until last month and I am 40 years old I think my hormones have flipped from working out too much.

I've been on doxy for about 2 month now. I take one in the morning and another in the evening ( i sometimes forget to take the second dose, and I without a doubt have another breakout). I've been on accutane and that worked incredably well. Doxy is sooo slow, so I'm thinking of going back on accutane for a few months. Doxy works but I would only reccommend it for people with mild acne, I have moderate-to very active acne.

I've been on Doxycycline Monohydrate (aka "Monodox") 50mg, once a day, for several years. It's the only antibiotic I've tried that doesn't give me any side effects. None whatsoever.

I've been using it for almost a month now, and thought i saw my face clearing up after the first week, but it's gotten worse the past few days. Although my recent breakout may be due to stress, it's still disappointing. My brother also uses it and he's been taking it for 3 months now, with great results! I guess I'll keep taking it and hope for the best. We both felt a little sick the first day taking it, but haven't had a problem since. I just make sure I eat something and drink water when taking it. We've also not had any problems being out in the sun.

It works very well. I am 32....developed acne about 9 months ago...this stuff worked very well in just under a week. Used in conjunction with Differin. The only thing I fear is if the acne will return after I stop taking it. I don't want to be dependent on anti-biotics.

My son is only 12 but has moderate non scarring acne on his face back and chest .Inially the doxy seemed to work well but after a couple of weeks it seemed to stop responding. After 3 months we ran out.I havent asked the doctor for another lot, not effective enough when compared to the risk of sunburn here in NewZealand. He got no other side effects and eats like a horse still.
