Pros: AMAZING. clears everything. I have literally not had a any real acne problems or cysts in 4 years. Cons: After 3 years I started getting a queazy stomach in the morning if I didn't take with food. Of course with every other skin regimen it takes at least a 2 month "purging" period before it gets better. Makes face sensitive to sun at first so wear spf Bottom Line: Worked extremely well with me. Cleared up all any back acne, chest acne or face acne I had and works awesome with deep acne. took about 5 months for it to be ALL cleared up but I have been on it for 4 years now and I don't even have to worry about zits anymore! Pros: didn't give me bladder infections like amoxicillin did. Cons: I have sever stomach aches and intense vomiting even when taken with food, it also didn't do anything for my skin. Bottom Line: It's not entirely worth it. a waste of time in my book and made me terribly ill. (used for about 6-8 months) Recommended: No Usage: J has used this item for a few months. Pros: Worked quickly Cons: Acne returned after I stopped taking the meds. Bottom Line: I took this med for reasons other than acne. After 3 days or so, my guy friends started telling me how nice my face was looking. He didn't know I was on meds. I still had the scars of course, but no cyst or new pimles and such. YOU MUST EAT SOMETHING AT LEAST 10 MINS BEFORE TAKING PILL!!!! I got my prescription filled at walmart, (no insurance) for $6.00. Recommended: Yes Usage: Luckster has used this item for a few weeks. Pros: Price (very affordable) and the fact that like other tetracycline derivatives it does function as an anti-inflammatory when taken for the duration. Cons: Does not totally stop breakouts. Very strict with "no dairy" because of the chemical nature, unlike minocycline which is not very dairy sensitive. Bottom Line: Worth a try if Minocycline didn't work for you. Pros: Just started it. It is an antibiotic, so it should help. I'm not worried about that. Cons: No cons Bottom Line: Long-term use of any antibiotic won't work. Your body will build up defenses against it and can't work. That is why there is so much of that MRSA or methicillin-resistant Staph aureus. The body will become immune to the drug. You shouldn't be taking antibiotics for a long time. Just sporadically, until your acne clear, stop taking it and at the first sign of a breakout take another capsule. But do not take it everyday forever....that's not how antibiotics work. If some of you have been taking antibiotics daily for months, no wonder it isn't working anymore. Pros: Simple and effective. I have been prescribed two 100mg pills a day and overall it has worked consistently, clearing and calming skin. Cons: Doesn't completely clear skin.I fear that it may be slowing and stop working. Can cause a really serious upset stomach (you aren't supposed to take it within an hour of eating if you can). Legitimate sensitivity to sunlight. Bottom Line: It has worked for me. I have had a really serious combination between stress and diet and naturally bad skin, but doxy has worked well for me. I had a really horrible outbreak that just got worse and worse with all the meds that I was being prescribed, but after I stopped using those (tetronin cream in particular; it was disgusting looking) and stayed on the pills I saw my skin get much much better. Though my face isn't totally clear and I question how it will continue to work, I would definitely reccommend it. Doxy may cause upset stomachs, but if you take it long enough you get used to it. Initially taking it on an empty stomach could make you really sick feeling, but I eventually got used to it. It makes me nervous though taking it anytime too near to when I eat because I think it may work less effectively. Recommended: Yes Usage: Joe has used this item for a few months. Pros: I have noticed that the size of cyst have lowered alot. Have been having less and less breakouts a week. Cons: Face is very sensitive to the sun. Upset stomach when not taken with food. Bottom Line: I have used this product for about 3 months before. I was clear of acne for an entire summer with very few breakouts here and there but no new cyst. About a few weeks ago when summer was ending and school was starting up, I started notcing cyst forming around my left cheek. I immediately went to my physician to renew my presriciption to doxycycline. Since I have been using doxy again about 2 weeks ago I noticed that those cyst have lowered since then. I still experience breakouts here and there but nothing but nothing as bad. I still suffer from new acne but cysts have decreseased since renewing my prescription. I also suffer from scars left from the cyst but have noticed a slight imporvement. Overall i suggest using this antibiotic if you are experiencing cystic acne. If it doesnt work immediately, just wait it out and you will start seeing improvements the more consistint u are with the medication Recommended: Yes Usage: Chris has used this item for a few weeks. Pros: Made my acne on my chin go away Cons: I get nauseous if I took it and waited too long to eat something. Also, my hands and arms have been very tingly. My skin was also sensitive to the sun Bottom Line: I would use this to get rid of acne. I have used other antibiotics that havent worked as well as this one.
