| Pros | Less hungry (?) Easy to take |
|---|---|
| Cons | Taking w/ just water makes me groggy for a little while |
| Bottom line | Although I've read about the nausea that Doxy can give, my Derm put me on 50mg twice daily and it hasn't given me the problems others have had. I've only been taking it for less than a week in conjuction w/ Sodium Sulfacetamide lotion 10% at night and Clindamycin 1% topical in the morning. Now at the end of the 4th day I can see a difference - the giant red eruptions have stopped and the ones already there (lower half of my face) are now shrinking rapidly. The upper half of my face that is already clear is beginning to take on a nice texture - a glow perhaps? This combination appears to be working nicely for me - a 31 yr old female with lengthy acne history now due mostly to hormones. |

| Pros | -I had clear skin for a couple of months - Controled my oily skin |
|---|---|
| Cons | - made me want to throw up if I took on an empty stomach - Stopped working after awhile |
| Bottom line | I have never had clearer skin than when I was on Doxycycline, however, after about a year it stopped working for me because I became immune to it. :( |

| Pros | Cleared acne easy small pill to swallow Not a topical |
|---|---|
| Cons | hearing distortion |
| Bottom line | I have reviewed doxy a little over a month ago but I felt the need for a final review seeing as I am now off it. What I loved about doxy is that I took it 2x a day and that was it. It did clear my skin completely except of course for the scars. Doxy really did help me gain my confidence back and then some. I know people can and will list the bad side effects which is good because we should all be aware but it was totally worth it taking doxy. I am now on accutane; we'll see how this goes. |

| Pros | -Gets rid of acne -Easy to swallow -Easy to break |
|---|---|
| Cons | -Can upset your stomach at first -Can be costly -Can't take it forever -Doesn't help scarring |
| Bottom line | I love this anti-biotic acne treatment. I had acne since 5th grade and in my junior year of high school my parents brought me to the dermatologist and this is what she prescribed me. After just a couple months I was only getting a couple breakouts and eventually my acne disappeared (even though I still got/get regular zits every once in a while). It affected my stomach at first, but you adjust. My dermatologist paired this with Epiduo though, since you can't take this forever. I had to go back on it after a summer of stress and dirt too, and it worked again. I think the combo works beautifully, and now I am now working on my scarring. The pills are easy to break in half when you're weaning off of it. The cost can be annoying but ask your derm for the card they make to make the cost lower. All in all I highly recommend it, just be careful when it comes to your stomach. |

| Pros | It does fight acne |
|---|---|
| Cons | stops working as soon as you take it not for everyone (made me puke no matter what I did) |
| Bottom line | Although this did clear my acne when I took it, my stomache cannot handle it. At first I could eat and no worry about it making me sick... but over time my body just rejects this medicine and it made me puke at random. One day I would take it and be fine the next I'd throw up again. Personally I wouldn't suggest people use this medication unless you think your acne is simply due to a bacterial infection. It stops working as soon as you go off of it. & you cannot use antibiotics for long peroids of time because it interupts the good bacteria in your digestive tract which could lead to c-diff (a very nasty intestional infection). Not that this happened to me but it can very well happen. If anything i'd suggest this as a temporary solution to clear your sebacious glands of bacteria... but then you have to search for a more perminate solution. |

| Pros | Keeps acne at bay and prevents new acne from forming. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Takes a while to work. Requires persistent use and dedication to witness results. Missing a dose can cause some effects. The antibiotics may cause some stomach discomfort, so do take with food. |
| Bottom line | Works really, really great! Got rid of my acne and I all I have left are some post-acne marks to combat which is going quite well. I was on the medicine for 3 months, I believe a full course. I began seeing results after the first month. The antibiotics work, but slowly. Please have patience when on this medicine. |

| Pros | -Cleared up pores on my cheeks -Acne has somewhat cleared |
|---|---|
| Cons | -HOLY SH*T YOU BETTER EAT THIS WITH FOOD |
| Bottom line | I made a mistake eating this without food one day and I literally felt like I was going to die. Maybe I am over dramatic but dear it was awful, anyway, I used to have moderate acne and I went to a dermatologist who gave me Doxycycline and Aczone together with lemon juice they are going fairly well for me except for that time of the month. It's kind of cheap I guess, compared to the price of the Aczone it's great. I've been using it for about 2 1/2 months and I'm seeing pretty all right results, It hasn't made me break out anymore so that's good |
