I have been taking Doxycycline for over a month now and have seen no improvement in my acne. I am frustrated and I am going back to my dermatologist to try something else.

I just started taking Doxycycline tonight. 5 hours ago, to be exact. I got a glass of water, drank it, filled it up, and took the pill. I used Cetaphil Moisturizing soap and "Persa" cream for the more rough areas. Then I got some "Soup at Hand".
This stuff is amazing -- after 5 hours my acne is already going away. I've used Oxy, Proactiv, and all that other stuff that works very small and takes days at least to work and this Doxycycline is amazing. Both my parents are doctors as well, and my father wrote the perscription so I think its at least pretty safe now.
And so that I know it is indeed the pill that is causing this to happen, I had some unsightly back acne 5 hours ago. Its gone. :o

It clears up your acne real good, yet it is pretty heavy on the stomach. Not worse than eating a spicy burrito, so I guess its worth it.

I went back and forth between this and Tetracycline for years, it was horrible, my body became dependant on antibiotics and my immune system was never the same. There haven't been good studies on this, don't do it!!!!

I had moderate acne but had spent 2 years doing everything and anything to clear it up. I was originally on Tetracyline which worked well but is rather inconvient because of the times it has to be taken. This is much more conveniant because it's twice a day with meals. All on it's own it does a decent job of clearing up larger blemishes, but not much for smaller bumps. When i combined it with Differin at night and Benzoyl peroxide gel in the morning it was phenomenal. I use a cetaphil wash and moisturizer and it is excellent. It took a little time to be really clear but i saw results immediatly. I highly recommend it.

I took doxyciline on and off for less than a year, It worked in reducing the size of my acne and amount of acne pretty well but everytime i stoped taking it, it came back just the same. It also made me throw up a couple times and it can mess up your day because you can't eat two hours before or after taking it. Thats 8 hours with out food!!Just today my dermatologist subscribed Dynacin, he said if Dynacin doesnt work accutane might be the next step. He reasured me that depression only happens in a tiny percantage of people who take it. I forgot to ask about the deformed babies and joint pains... hopefully the Dynacin works.

I have been using Doxycycline along with Retin-A (evening) and Cleocine-T (morning - topical antibiotic) for over a month. At first I had no resutlts. My acne was awful only to find out alot of it had to do with the BCP I was on - Yasmin. Yasmin made my acne worse along with severe headaches. Once I changed my BCP to Zovia, my skin began to clear up immediately. I find that I need to take two Doxycycline pills a day in order to keep it clear. If I take one, my acne returns. I also find I must take the Doxycycline with food and lots of water or else I end up nausiated. This is ok as long as you are not taking in any foods that contain calcium or calcium supplements. I believe the topical Cleocine-T does nothing for my skin. As for the Retin-A, it helps heel and prevent my face from scarring. Just use as little as possible, because it tends to thin the skin and make it flakey.....this will improve over time. I prefer gel form.....easier to control amount put on face. Hope all this helps.
