Ive been using doxycyline 50 mg for about one month so far i see a bit of an improvment but , i get little red dots after i dont know if thats scarring or not i have no idea . But this medicine has spread out the pimples and are slowly going away. Maybe i'll try 75 mg but id recommend it to mild acne cases.

Took it for rosacea, worked very well but very hard on my stomache and when I started a second 30 day round of it I could not stand the symtoms and stooped taking it. I immediately became very ill with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). Watch out if it irritates your stomach.

Ive been taking doxy 50mg/day along with diferin gel for the past month and can see a substantial improvement all over. Less pimples, Less swelling, Less blackheads. My face gets burnt easier and its more irritated (becomes redder than usual for a day after using diferin) but its MUCH better than it was.

I have used doxy for the past 5 months. Unfortunately it did absolutely nothing for me, in fact recently I have started to wonder if it hs actually gotten worse!!! I read somewhere that it can take 6 months to give true results, but after 5 with no results I have switched antibiotics. I was taking 100mg a day of the doxy. My sister who had mild acne used it and it worked great. My brother however used it for his more severe acne and he was also very disappointed. I am wondering if it works better for mild acne. Also, it was very hard on all of our stomachs. My brother occassionaly had to vomit after taking it, my sister got some kind of an ulcer from sleeping right after taking it, and I had had trouble with a constantly upset stomach. I didn't use any topical product, this may also be a key factor in regards to the acne results. I have done some research and am now taking minocycline as I have read it is the most effective and works when the other antibiotics haven't, in regards to acne. Apparently in addition to killing bacteria, it also has an anti-inflammatory effect which takes out the redness and swelling in acne. I am using this with tretinoin (retin A) and Avar (a prescription sulfur cleanser). So far so good!!! I really would like to avoid accutane if possible.

I just started Adoxa like 2 weeks ago and haven't seen any tpye of improvement as of yet. It seemed to be getting better and then all of the sudden today about 8 whiteheads popped up. Now granted I am someone who has ALWAYS had really good skin, so I can't STAND having acne it is disgusting. I know you aren't supposed to pick at the whiteheads, BUT the are ugly and I have to go to work every day, and I don't want to scare people. My face has ALWAYS been normal, and for the last few weeks has been totally oily and gross. I dont' know what is going on, I just turned 25 yrs. old, I don't get it, why now? HOPEFULLY this stuff will work otherwise I would rather go straight to accutane. MY copay was $30--which is a rip off too...

I've been taking doxy for 7 days and so far I've seen a little improvement. I haven't really noticed any side effects yet. The derm also prescribed me differin gel, which seems to be helping. I also had breakouts on my back, chest, and upper arms. The derm gave me a HUGE tube of Umecta and I use it on my back, chest, and upper arms twice a day. Umecta has made a drastic difference and my breakouts seem to be disappearing! I'm gonna stick with doxy b/c I really think it is helping clear up my skin. Hopefully, I will see a difference in this first month!

I think the Doxy reduces bad inflammation for me...everyone who doesnt see results, just give it time...ive been using it for a month and am FINALLY seeing results...good luck

I'm taking doxycycline (100mg), one pill at night. I started getting acne around my mouth about 2 1/2 weeks ago, and during that time, it would worsen, getting a new pimple every morning i woke up, with one or two previous ones going away. I went to the derm when two weeks was up thinking I was allergic to something, or b/c i had ran out of proactive for 4 days. But even after i began using it again [the proactive], it still wasn't going away. So my derm told me it's a bacteria that I have to treat from the inside. So he perscribed me the doxy, and i've been taking it for about 4 days. Not much improvement yet. I just got a new pimple on my chin, and one i've gotten 2 days ago [also on my chin], is going away. I'm waiting it out to see if it does anything. Take it with a fully glass of water or milk. Although i have read that milk may actually affect how well it works. And i always take it after I eat dinner. So i haven't had any side affects with it so far. But hopefully it'll clear up my acne.

Hi there, i'm 20 years old next month and have had acne since I was 12 years old. I kept it sort of under control using topical gels but it flared up really badly on my face and back over the past 12 months. I went to the doctor a month ago and was prescribed Doxy 100mg. I have just finished my first months worth of tablets and have seen a steady improvement - nothing spectacular but it's certainly improved a great deal. I have only had 2 whiteheads over the last month whereas before I was on Doxy I was getting about 5 per morning...grrr! I have been using Doxy in conjunction with the same topcial gel (Eryacne) and it has worked well - very affordable :) I experienced nausea and headaches in the first week of taking it but since then absolutely nothing, even when taking it on an empty stomach (which from the sounds of other peoples experiences you should avoid). Overall I am happy with Doxy and Im going back to the doctors tomorrow to get my next month's worth :) Hope it works for you
