Pros:clears up acne within 3 months, makes pimples smaller
Cons:during the summer and warmer months it gets a little worse due to imflammation, makes skin super sensitive to sun, creates temporary scarring, you still breakout around period, stomach pains have occurred
Bottom Line:i am extremely thankful for how well it clears up acne- it seems to be good for the skin; i dislike the breakout periods and how my skin is sensitive to sun and scarring occurs. i thought i liked this product until i saw how many cons were verses pros. now im not so sure i want to be on this medication anymore although i have gotten compliments from people saying my acne cleared up really good and my skin is way better than it was and if i wasn't on it i can't even imagine how bad it would be.

Pros:Haven't see any
Cons:Haven't see any
Bottom Line:Well, I just got done with my accutane treatment about two and half months ago...at first I was clear for atleast a month (perhaps 5 weeks) after accutane, but then slowly but surely I stated seeing it come back...I never had it too bad to begin with, but there were definitely white heads and pimples (I used to only get white heads before accutane, but now I'm actually seeing some red pimples and they hurt)

So I saw my dermitologist, and she gave me Doxycyline (100mg) along with Differen and Ac Zone....

Well I just stated using it last week, but I feel weird, really itchy, and i wanna scratch my face pretty bad...

I'm thinking about discontinuing Doxy and going back to my Derm and ask her to put me back on accutane....my skin was getting almost flawless while I was on it.

Anyone else in similar situation!

Pros:I haven't really noticed any :(
Cons:Makes me have stomach aches and feel sick.
Also makes my skin dry out.
Makes me ultra-sensitive to sun.
Bottom Line:It doesnt seem to work at all and it made me have breakouts where i didn't have then. I used to only have acne on my cheeks and only a tiny bit on my chin and after i started using this medication it made my forehead break out so bad! it's awful!

Pros:the only solution to my acne that has ever even remotely worked.
Cons:being on an antibiotic semipermanantly
Bottom Line:when i first started taking this about 3 years ago, it did upset my stomach. i soon realized that not taking it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach was a good idea. i recently decided to stop taking it because i do not want to permanently be on an antibiotic (and i'm 28! i thought maybe my skin would naturally be improved by this point). 2 weeks later, my face actually hurts from the acne. i now remember why i love doxycycline so much. highly recommended. i am back on it as of today.

Pros:After like a week, I can see some MAJOR improvements, especially on the "back-ne" and the "cl-acne"
Cons:Once I hit day 4, i got slightly nauseous for like a half hour
Bottom Line:It works. Ive been using it with Clindamycin topical, and its done wonders. I mean, yeah you get an upset stomach, but its really not as bad as people make it out to be. Just lay down for a little while and you"ll barley notice it.

Oh, an I've noticed that I've been slightly dizzy for the last week, but its nothing that was really worth mentioning to anyone... just a heads up. =]

Pros:Cheap
Easy to swallow tablet (50mg)
Cleared up 90% of my acne in 3 weeks
Cons:Causes stomach ache
Bottom Line:I've used it for almost 3 weeks and the results are amazing! It dried up all my existing acne within the first week. I consistently had minor break outs everyday but ever since I took Doxy it seems to have reduced full sized pimple break outs to very very few minor white heads.
On some days taking it makes me nauseous, but its a small price to pay for clearer skin after a decade of never ending stubborn facial acne.

Pros:i think its working?
Cons:still get the HUGE postulate (forgot what they're called) that scar if you dare to pop but are huge and stay on the skin and make you dont even wanna leave the house.
Bottom Line:im on these 20mg pills and tazorac cream, so i never really know which one is the one thats working ya know?
Im on the 20mg 2 times a day.
the derm. says i dont need the full 100mg though i consider my acne severe, hahah so i usually take about 4 a day so i take about 80mg

Pros:It works pretty good. Price is great depending on which Doxycycline you are prescribed.
Cons:None worth complaining about
Bottom Line:For those who say it upsets the stomach, my pharmacist says Doxycycline Monohydrate is more gentle on the stomach and I took 75MG twice a day of that and it didn't bother me a bit. That said, it cleared my face pretty well but the "backne" didn't fare as good. So I asked for 100MG twice a day. She changed my perscription to Doxycycline Hyclate (don't know why) which is a little harsher on the stomach but tollerable and I hope maybe all side effects will go away over time. That has helped the old "backne" to up the dose and the Doxycycline Hyclate is so much cheaper (try $32.98 retail price compared to $281.99 for the monohydrate! With insurance both are affordable though) that I think I'll try to stick it out.
In my opinion, if you think it isn't working, maybe you need a stronger dosage before you give it up.

Pros:Does work in time
Cons:Takes a looooooooong time to work, and I don't like taking medication for a long time. Also gave me terrible, terrible nightmares, which is common.
