I have been on doxycycline for about 10 months. At first I was taking one 250mg pills twice a day. This stuff worked great and my doctor gradually got me to one 50mg pill every other day, and it still works.

Hi! I have a mild acne and after taking Doxycycline (twice a day), I have noticed improvement after 4 days.Wow! The only thing is the irritated stomach, especially at night. My question:Could I just reduce the dose to one in the morning?? Since it is an antibiotic, is it dangerous to just discontinue it? I am taking it two weeks and I feel I might not need it for a while. My face looks better than ever before!

I just started last night. I'm taking it twice a day along with Retin-A micro. I'm 30 and have had acne since I was 13. I just want it to go away.

it is such an amzing effect. I had been getting a few break outs here and there. I tried proactiv...what a waste! Than I bought that clearisil ultra, face wash, cleansing pad things, and the astrigent, with me doing hat everyday, and the doxy I have 80% less acne!

Was on this medication for two years. It worked great, but it also turned my toe nails black. If I had to back, I would use it again (just not for so long). However, as long as there is Vilantae, I shouldn't need to take another antibiotic for my acne

I've been on Doxycycline for about 3 days now and i have seen and improvment, maybe not much, but good considering that in just 3 days the inflamination (redness) has been reduced. REMEMBER... Try to take it on an 'empty stomach'and keep out of dairy (milk, cheese, yogurt etc.) Avoid sunlight or sunlamps (preferably take it at night) AND ALWAYS swallow with plenty of water at regular intervals. Good luck peeps. I've also found this website that is really helpful about acne... [link removed]

I took Deoxycycline Hyclate as an antibiotic with differin. I really disliked this medicine you have to eat something or you feel like you are gonna vomit. It did help me though but not in a major way. On my viewpoint it's not good to pills like this because lets say for instance you get bit by a tick and you get prescribed this antibiotic and you already build up immunity to it. It won't do you any good then. Eventually i'm also guessing it would stop working even to prevent acne. The bacteria could build up immunity to this medicine.

well.. I tried this as well as many antibiotics over tha past few years for my acne, and they all seemed to help - made breakouts slightly less bad, I dont have terrible acne anyways- but only for awhile. The slight difference isnt really worth it. I'm going to be starting on a sample of Yasmin soon (am now terrified because of the horrible reviews it got on here! but whatever, I'll give it a try.. no way Im going to keep it up if it gives me month long bleeding or weight gain, tho!) as well as stievamycin (a retin-a type product, works very well)
