Was on this medication for two years. It worked great, but it also turned my toe nails black. If I had to back, I would use it again (just not for so long). However, as long as there is Vilantae, I shouldn't need to take another antibiotic for my acne

I've been on Doxycycline for about 3 days now and i have seen and improvment, maybe not much, but good considering that in just 3 days the inflamination (redness) has been reduced. REMEMBER... Try to take it on an 'empty stomach'and keep out of dairy (milk, cheese, yogurt etc.) Avoid sunlight or sunlamps (preferably take it at night) AND ALWAYS swallow with plenty of water at regular intervals. Good luck peeps. I've also found this website that is really helpful about acne... [link removed]

I took Deoxycycline Hyclate as an antibiotic with differin. I really disliked this medicine you have to eat something or you feel like you are gonna vomit. It did help me though but not in a major way. On my viewpoint it's not good to pills like this because lets say for instance you get bit by a tick and you get prescribed this antibiotic and you already build up immunity to it. It won't do you any good then. Eventually i'm also guessing it would stop working even to prevent acne. The bacteria could build up immunity to this medicine.

well.. I tried this as well as many antibiotics over tha past few years for my acne, and they all seemed to help - made breakouts slightly less bad, I dont have terrible acne anyways- but only for awhile. The slight difference isnt really worth it. I'm going to be starting on a sample of Yasmin soon (am now terrified because of the horrible reviews it got on here! but whatever, I'll give it a try.. no way Im going to keep it up if it gives me month long bleeding or weight gain, tho!) as well as stievamycin (a retin-a type product, works very well)

I've had acne problems since I was 12. I'm 22 now and I've tried too many different topical medications. I was on proactiv for about a year and my acne got a little better, but I was still fed up with the situation. I had moderate acne, but now it's developed into a more severe case. I'm not exactly sure why(hormones, stupid boyfriend who insists on rubbing his face against mine when we kiss, too much 10% BP)Anyway, I finally saw a dermatologist again and she prescribed 200 mg/day with differin at night. I've been doing this for 2 days and the doxy gives me slight nausea(bearable)and my skin feels even more sensitive. I know it's still too soon to tell if it will work for me, but we all know this stupid acne crap takes time to overcome. "it gets worse before it gets better" "redness and peeling will probably increase for the first two weeks or so (which means they will for about a month)" "the skin is an amazing organ capable of healing itself." WHAT BS!!!!

I developed acne at age 25. At first I tried all sorts of soaps and topical gels and nothing worked. I visited my derm and he prescribed Tazorac and Duac gel. I applied it and it didn't clear up my acne. After 4 months, I went to see my gyn Dr. and he told me that I had ovarian cysts and this is what was causing my acne. He put me on Yasmin BC and it cleared up my skin within 1 week. I continued to take the Yasmin and noticed that I was moody all the time and depressed. So my Dr. prescribed Sarafem (10Mg.Prozac)and it totally took away my moodiness and am now more relaxed and happy. However, I noticed that I am breaking out now. I know the acne will go away if I stop taking the Sarafem, but I don't want to be sad. I found some Doxy that My Derm had prescribed about 6 months ago and am contimplating taking it because I don't want my body to develop a tolerance for it and become dependent on it...THIS SUCKS! I JUST WANT TO HAVE clear skin and be happy:(

I just got my perscription of doxy from my doctor but i havent taken it yet. Im a little concered because most of the people on this page have mixed feelings or are using the product with other products. My doctor told me to just take the doxy becuase my skin isnt severely broken out its more mild. Hopefully this product works for me because im a teenager and we all know how important it is to look good at 17. I start taking it tonight so ill update when i see a change. Thank you everyone for your comments, insight, and tips on other useful products, in case this one bombs!!
