Got prescribed it yesterday. ALL DRUGS REACT DIFFERERNTLY TO EVERY PERSON so if it did not work for one person on here it does not mean it will not work on you :)
I have an appointment in 6 weeks to check whether it is working or change dosgage/drug etc!
Good luck everyone

I am 34, and started getting adult acne (cystic type) after my children were born-- yup, first grey hair...acne... fat, saggy belly... AND BONUS a crying baby!!! Now, please note that I wouldn't change having my little boys for the world but MAN OH MAN-- have a heart--throw a new mom a bone! Anyway, I started taking Doxy last week and I like it a lot. I did forget to stay sitting upright for a while afterwards and woweee, what heartburn! I will never do that again, always take with LOTS of water and don't lay down right away. I have also cut out all perfumed items and that made a big difference as well. I am using Aveeno products. I have tried the whole clear skin regimine but I just don't like BP, it stains everything.

Hey, I'm 20 and have, as I write, just taken my first 100mg 'Doxy' pill...
Anyway, after reading this forum for 10 minutes, I must declare my solidarity with acne sufferers.
I've had acne in some form for about 6 years, and it has ranged from an annual cyst (pretty nasty) to a couple of blackheads - nothing really extreme, and certainly nothing to warrent hard core drug ussage.
But now i've almost finished university, and it looks like i'm going to get a good job, I can no longer deal with having to cohabitate with this s*** anymore.
If I can pass some advice on from my limited experience it would be this: lead a proactive life - i've always found that playing tennis in the sunshine (a rare experience in gloomy England, I accept) a couple of days a week gives me better skin. Drink lots of mineral water, it will flush all the crap out of your body and make you look/feel generally healthier. Be aware of your environment - catching an underground train everyday, in a heavily polluted city at the height of summer will flare up your acne - try and avoid sustained exposure to pollution. it is no coincidence that when one goes on holiday to an unpolluted Italian village by the sea, your skin clears up beautifully. Don't smoke pot or take drugs!!! We have all had a misspent youth, but if you want clear skin, don't go anywhere near drugs! The same analysis applies to heavy drinking - the occasional glass of red wine, I find, actually can help - but going out everynight and getting wrecked gives anyone a bad complexion - and even more so with people susceptible to acne.
Don't do anything to weaken you immune system, eat well and don't let it get you down. Try and avoid stress at all costs, I find that if I’ve had a number of huge rows with people or feel generally uncomfortable in a particular environment, my acne flares up. If I eat well, sleep well, wash my face twice a day, exercise as much as possible, get some sunshine, use BZ a couple of times a week and stay clear of stressful environment my acne disappears. Unfortunately, life doesn’t always allow you to practice such a regime, and you have cyclical revivals of acne as your quality of life fluctuates…but hey that’s what the drugs are for.

i've tried everything and stuck with it, after months and months of Benza-clin, now im on doxy and differen, today im sick of using benza-clin, im trying MURAD salacylic acid.
I'm 20, if this is some sort of puberty's sick joke, it's ruining my life, why would god do this to me? Doctors are wating my time, why don't they have some sort of miricle regime?
I can't even look at myself in the mirror anymore, I dont know what makes me more sick, Doxycycline or the sight of my own face! People think i have chicken pox, it looks like I got stung in the face by a jelly fish! I completley lost hope in meeting new girls, I dont blame them, i wouldn't want to talk to a Pizza face either!
I used to never wash my face and it was fine while everyone else had acne! Now i feel like the harder I try to stick with a regime, the worse it gets! Now many of my red pimples are turning black, how disguisting i feel about myself. It's beyond embarressing, it's totally humiliating! It's ruining my life and theres nothing I can do, i wish I was a Muslim and had a towel over my face 24/7,
Anyone who takes one look at my face probably can feel better about themselves!

Doxycycline taken in low doses 20mg 2x/day has substancial antiinflammatory effects and doesnt cause the hole bacterial stimulation process that goes with long term antibiotics (on and off)..
In low doses doxy is not aa antibiotic anymore but an effective antinflamatory.. Highly recommended.. wanna know more do a little google search "Low dose doxycycline"

I posted a comment about 5 weeks ago when i had been on doxy for 6 days, ive now been on it 6 weeks and i can honestly say it has improved my skin a great deal. i still get quite a few spots if im tired or have been drinking a lot of alcohol, but if i look after my skin it clears up really fast. my skin was super sensitive on holiday, i had factor 30 on and i still burnt, and my arms and legs tingled a lot! but apart from that the sun helped get rid of my spots. for all the people who have just started using doxy and its making your skin worse keep going with it becasue its definitely worth it!
