Its my 2nd month now using doxy in combination with tetra. i have basically cleared up all my acne at the back, chest and face, my skin is now smooth except for the spots now.you should know that doxy needs to be taken with food to avoid vomitting!!!

Ive been taking doxy for about a year now and I don't really like it. It did clear up my acne pretty well (combined with retin A) but it's very hard on my stomach! i throw up if I don't eat first (it's terrible, I dont stop until EVERYTHING is out of my stomach, including water) and it actually gave me an ulcer in my esophogus because I took it with too little water and went straight to bed. I didn't eat for a week. I want off of it SO bad, but when I even miss one pill I break out because my skin goes into withdrawl.

i was on Doxy for 2 years, it was working great, but i found myself throwing up if i didn't eat food BEFORE i took it. after 2 years i became allergic to it, and my nails began to lift...so i stopped taking it ASAP. i would say give it a try....just don't stay on it for 2 years like i did

I was just prescribed Doxy by a new dermatologist and, like many other entries, literally feel like I had tried EVERYTHING before that. Even Vit. A tablets, which i honestly think did it for me and cleared up my skin. I used Zoderm, Retin A, and Clindagel for a long time, alongside Vit A, and then recently was prescribed Doxy, while still using Zoderm, Retin A, but now a different moisturizer. I feel like my skin's actually worsened, which is really frustrating. I never get fat red dots but a few definitely popped up in the time that i've been taking this pill, and the redness of those that were already there (more scars and blemish-looking acne versus actual bumps) redenned even more. So I'm stuck! I don't know what to do. I may go see my derm again this week and ask whether I should stop using Doxy and go with my previous medication, or what. I really DON'T want to try Acutane, sounds scary.
Anyone have any suggestions or experienced something similar to me? If you HAVE had an adverse reaction to taking Doxy (at least at the beginning, so in other words, getting more pimples), then did it subside and/or go away altogether after continued use?
Please help.

hello!
i've been on doxy for a couple of weeks after years of on and off anitbiotic treatments and thus far it's not working but i realise i have to give it time (although i tried it a few years ago and it didn't work then but hey!). i was wondering if any1 had tried VILANTAE and if so what they thought? plus has any1 tried it with doxy because i'm considering trying them in tandem. wish luck to all!!!

Hey, I started taking doxycycline (twice a day) a few days ago. When I first took it, I got nausea and had stomach pains.. So I googled the side effects and found out you should take it with food and water. So whenever I take it now, I take after I eat and with a lot of water. That seemed to help. Also.. my skin looks better, but I'll post again when I've taken it for a longer period of time.
