i have just been to the doctors and got a prescription for doxy! When i was young i always had beautiful skin..but now that im a teenage and my hormones are raging and i am very stress at school becoz of yr 12..so now i have terrible acne...it's really unattractive especally when i plaster on makeup to try and cover it up...i have used so many creams from elle bache and other expensive brands..AND THEY DON't WORK! so hopefully my skin will now clear up becoz of doxy! i'm just a little concerned about the side effects but i think it will be worth it to have good skin!

I have been on doxy for almost 4 months. I am 44! I have had acne on and off since I was 11. I did accutane 12 years ago and last year my acne started coming back. My face is geting better now with the doxy, but I do not like taking it. I do have to make sure I eat and drink plenty of water or else I feel sick, but I have never thrown up. I wonder how long I will be on it and when I stop I guess the acne will return. I don't want to do accutane again. It is frustrating. All the same feelings from my teenage years have returned witht his bout of adult acne. It sucks! I didn't think the doxy would ever work, but at least I am seeing results...finally as I am nearing the 4 month mark. Then what? How long do I stay on it??

I was put on Doxycycline roughly one month from today by my derm. It seems to work well and is another weapon in the arsenal i use to combat acne. I wouldn't solely rely on Doxy to take care of my acne, but during the day when i'm out and about it's reassuring to know i'm taking care of it. It's really hard to tell if the Doxy is doing miracles since i'm using Benzaclin, which is obviously the major roleplayer.

Some HUGE precautions: If you have a weak stomach, think twice about taking Doxy, they'll tell you to take it on an empty stomach ( they suggest 2 hours no food) , also Dairy ( particularly the Calcium renders Doxy useless) So no Dairy after or before taking Doxy...2 hours in advance for both ways. I've gotten sick about 5 out of 25 times taking Doxy, so i mean it is a slight problem. I usually just get a upset stomach, and that's where it ends for me.

Strangly today i did vomit, i have heard people vomiting from Doxycycline so it didn't surprise me. I got sick and ate, but for some reason my body didn't like it and i threw up. This is the first instance and i know it was the Doxy for sure, i'm fine now and after i threw up i felt perfect.

Make sure you can handel it, and for most people it's fine.

Started taking Doxy (combined with clindamycin) six months ago when I was 21. I've suffered with acne since I was 15 and was completely fed up with it. It took about 3 weeks until I started seeing results with the Doxy, but for the first time in YEARS, I had perfectly clear skin. It was absolutely unbelievable. For the first time in my life I had confidence in public, went on some dates, was living the life.

However, about four months into the treatment, my acne started to come back. Wasn't too big of a deal at first, having one here or there is much better than what it once was. However, now, six months in, I don't think the treatment is doing anything anymore. Oh well. I had the best 4 months of my life.

I had a huge flare up 2 years ago and was put on to Doxy. I didn't suffer any of the nausea thank goodness :) but after a few weeks it cleared up. I had small bumps all over and big red ones. Everything cleared up. Unfortunately after stopping Doxy, it seems to have returned a few months later. So I am on it again. It's given me a breakout, but I know that it works, so I will just have to be patient.

I have been using doxy. for almost one year now, it helps and then I will break out again. So I increase my dose by one pill and w/in a couple of days my skin will start to clear again. Be sure to take it right after you eat, a couple of times I forgot to and about two hours after I ate I took the pill and got sick and felt bad for a couple of hours, drink plenty of water also.
