Pros:It's cheap, it works, no side effects, didn't get bad before it got better.
Cons:Don't take on a completely empty stomach, eg, when you just wake up.
Bottom Line:My doctor put me on Doxycycline and I'm very happy with it. I haven't had any side effects, except feeling a bit sick if I don't eat first. But you only need say, a cracker or two and a glass of water! It is well worth it. It cleared my skin right up, it got rid of the redness and the acne. I didn't have bad skin to begin with but this cleared up any imperfections, except blackheads.

Pros:Really reduced the amount of acne on my back and chest
Cons:Hasn't done much for my face yet
Bottom Line:I've been using doxycycline for 2 months now and the only difference it has made for me is reducing my back and chest acne. Unfortunately my face is still getting loads of breakouts. I wonder why?

Pros:First two weeks you'll notice a slight decrease in acne
Cons:treatment eventually plateaued, doesnt agree with empty stomachs, sometimes you'll burp up powder?, more small blackheads
Bottom Line:high school student+doxycycline=waste of time

Pros:Made my acne go away in a couple of weeks
Cons:Sometimes it would upset my stomache if i took it without food.
Bottom Line:When I was 16 I had the worst acne break out ever. It was during the summer and I was going 2 be too emberassed to go back 2 school with acne skin. Well I used this and within weeks I had clear skin. I loved it until I became immune to it within 2 years. But while it worked it was great.

Pros:its a pill you can swallow lol
Cons:This pill often made me extrmemly sick. I didnt see any difference in my acne.
Bottom Line:I recall throwing up in a hallway at my job because of this! I took it for over a month and I still have mild acne. I switched to tetracyclin since its easier on the stomach and I hope it works.

Pros:Haven't had any pros yet.
Cons:My acne is getting worse than it was.
Bottom Line:I haven't encountered any problems with photo-sensitivity yet, but I also spend the majority of my day inside, and wear SPF makeup. If I eat it with meals and don't lay down for 2 hours afterward (what they recommended) then my stomach is fine. I've been taking it consistently for a month and my acne is just getting worse. And the other reviews here worry me that if I even consider going off of it, my face will get even worse. I'm not so sure about this drug.

Pros:I used this all throughout high school and I really feel as though it worked
Cons:Now when I try to get back on it I feel that I may be immune but I do think it worked during most of high school
Bottom Line:I wish I had never stopped using it because a couple years later my acne is crazy and I should have remained on it. It was so successful I thought that I was fine, but when I went off it my face went crazy.

Pros:SEEMS TO NOT LET PIMPLES OR CYSTIC PIMPLES GO CRAZY LIKE BEFORE. CHEAP, AND NOT HARD ON MY STOMACH
Cons:DOESN'T GET RID OF EVERYTHING. MORE SMALL BLACK HEADS AND WHITE HEADS. BUT ITS BETTER THAN BEFORE.
Bottom Line:THIS PRODUCT SEEMS TO BE WORKING SO FAR. KEEPS EVERYTHING ALOT LESS IRRITATED. I GET HUGE CYSTIC ACNE ON MY CHIN MAINLY. SINCE I HAVE TAKEN THIS IT HAS CUT THE NUMBER I GET BY 3/4. MY FACE IS ALITTLE BUMPIER THAN NORMAL . BUT AT LEAST IT IS NOT AS BAD AS IT WAS.

Bottom Line:I've been on doxycycline for a LONG time, and it has made my acne go from horrific to acceptable, but it hasn't done much else, and I'm trying something new now.

Pros:Cleared up my face almost completely within only 1 week, starts working very fast!
Cons:After 3 wks I started noticing a sensitivity to heat and cold in my hands and feet, like pins and needles. When cold wind would come up, it felt like rain on my hands, in the shower my feet and hands would burn. I found out it was an allergic reactio
Bottom Line:I would definitely reccomend it, but beware of any allergic reactions...the side effects (like sensitivity to sunlight) didn't start occuring until I was on the medication for a little while. Very important to drink lots of water and don't take it on an empty stomach. If it makes you feel nauseous then I would reccomend buying yogurt like Bio-K or dan actives, the good bacteria in them helps replace the stuff you need that the antibiotic kills.
