Pros: Cleared up skin, reduced redness Cons: If you miss a day your acne comes back. Makes your skin sensitive to sunlight but basically all acne medications do that. Bottom Line: You have to wait a few weeks to see results (remember its working from the inside layers of your skin out). At first it might make your acne worse...but that doesn't mean it wont eventually work . If your stomach hurts after taking it then try eating a few crackers after swallowing it...it helps a lot. Pros: Works well - I had no side effects - no dry skin nothing! I find it great Cons: Unfortunately for me it keeps persisting on coming back after a month or two of finishing my prescription. But while im using it its clear as Bottom Line: Patience needed! the first time I ever used it, it took a while for iy to wrk. The next time I used it, the result was almost instant. I have previously had one full course of roaccutane which was briliant but after about 12months I noticed small breakouts (no where near what it used to be ) so I usen this to keep minor problems under control. I strongly reccommend Roaccutane for those with severe acne, I truly believe that this is the best and quickest way and will reduce chances of getting scarring. Doxycycline is great - but only for those with mild acne! If in doubt - go see a dermatologist - its worth it! Recommended: Yes Usage: Sarah has used this item for a few months. Pros: cleared my skin Cons: after 11 month i immunized to it and i had a breakout. My back looked 4 times worse than at the beggining. Pros: cleared acne Cons: upset stomach for the first few weeks Bottom Line: I have always had moderate to severe acne. I went on accutane back in 2006 and completed one full course. However my acne came back shortly after and I was not able to do another course due to health issues. So i have had to struggle with acne ever since. Then I found out i had lyme disease and was put on doxycycline and within a week my skin was clear. two birds with one stone! Recommended: Yes Usage: cat12324324 has used this item for a few weeks. Pros: I have not seen any results yet but hoping to see some soon. All I get is more breakouts but I heard it takes time to work. Cons: For the first couple of days it gave me an upset stomach but now I'm okay with that. Bottom Line: The doctor said wait 3 months for results and hoping to see them. Pros: Skin is looking much clearer and healthier. Cons: Took quite a while until I saw results. Horrible breakout within the first few weeks. Started scalp acne. Bottom Line: To be honest, within the first few weeks I started crying in school because I felt horrible; my skin looked worse and I had 3 huge cysts on my forehead that people kept on looking at. But I wasn't prepared to give up. All because I read a review on here that said you should be patient with it, so I have. I've been using this antibiotic for almost 7 weeks now and I can finally see the results. My skin looks much clearer and healthier but it is frustrating having to wait so long until I can be completely happy with my appearance. Doxycycline did give me scalp acne, however, and sometimes the acne which formed on my scalp was painful to sleep on. Fortunately, I haven't experienced stomach pains even when I do not take it on a full stomach. But anyway, I would say only take Doxycycline if you're willing to wait for results and you don't mind an initial breakout. Recommended: Yes Usage: Aya R has used this item for about a month. Pros: Works effectively within 7 days, co-ordinates well with a daily moisturiser. Cons: If I stop taking them, acne returns within a week or so. Bottom Line: Great antibiotic if they agree with you, no point taking them if you don't get results or if they are causing you other discomforts, i.e. nausea. Pros: Cleared up skin dramatically Skin is now glowing and blemish-free Cons: Need to take it as prescribed without fail...otherwise skin breaks out again. I missed one day and the very next morning i had a breakout! Bottom Line: This is my third post hehe! I have been on it for about 3 months now. I am glad i persisted as it has worked out for me. My skin first seemed worse then it got sore and red for a while then it settled down and now it is great! I also use it with Benzac 5% wash that i use once or twice a day...my skin also initially reacted to this but then also slowly settled down. I also experimented with flaxeed oil which really seemed to help me... I was quite bummed initially as my skin seemed to be reacting negatively....but i persisted and am so glad that i did! Pros: None so far.... Cons: After 6 days of taking it, I woke up with lots lf little spots all over my chest. Never had any there before! Bottom Line: I have had a weird spotty rash on one cheek only for 3 months. Doc has prescribed this (1 tab of 100mg a day for 2 months), but after one week I have not noticed a difference and in fact now have lots of little spots all over my chest, which I have never had before.
