| Pros | Great stuff, and I've tried just about everything short of Accutane, which I just can't bring myself to try. So far it has significantly cleared my skin, and it's only been a week. My skin looks to be more even as well, which is very nice. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Don't drink alcohol when you take Doxy. I took a sip of wine and it made me vomit. |
| Bottom line | After having moderate acne for 10 years, Doxy is a godsend. I don't have medical insurance, so paying $10 for a month's worth of pills made me VERY happy. |

|---|---|
| Cons | Didn't work and made me very sensitive to sunlight, got sunburnt heaps easier. |
| Bottom line | Not worth it. Instead I am using vitamins at the moment. Vitamin B Complex and Zinc. And buying extra Vitamin B5 pills (theres not enough of B5 in the complex). And I'm waiting on my cleanser, moisturiser and mask from SkinB5. |

| Pros | Starting to clear up skin |
|---|---|
| Cons | I'm on the 150mg Slow release pill and OMG it's like a horse pill!! Can they make it any bigger??? ;) Anyways besides it being really hard to swallow, and upsetting my stomach a little bit nothing else so far. |
| Bottom line | I started to take this on Monday so 3 days now. Before I started to take it, I had the worst breakout ever! I mean at least 20 big pimples on my face and a TON on my arms shoulders back and chest. I look like a walking pimple! I had one on my arm that was double stacked! Freaking gross!! Anyways now that I have totally grossed everyone out my point is the Doxycycline seems to be making the breakout go away. I have those cystic acne ones that are a bugger to get rid of. They take WEEKS to go down and they seem to be getting smaller and less painful! My main goal is to get accutane but if this works heck I swallow a horse pill every morning!! I already took the Monocyclin and it made me really sick so I stopped taking it after 2 weeks. I'm totally allergic to Penicillin, so hopefully this works for me! Also I got these as a sample from my Derm so I don't know what my co-pay is going to be. My last one for the monocyclin was 20.00 |

| Pros | Takes a while, as with all antibiotics, to start working. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Pills taste bad and are sometimes hard for me to swallow. Makes birth control pills ineffective. |
| Bottom line | My doc prescribed me this with an 8% benzoyl peroxide facewash after I started breaking out after accutane. Was sufficient while I was taking them but I have the hardest time remembering to take the pills everyday! I started breaking out terribly once I started taking Yasmin (my body just doesn't do well with hormones). I stopped the birth control, started taking the doxy, using the wash and adding Epiduo to the mix and I'm starting to clear up very well.. especially in the chest area. I think the key to antibiotics is consistency! Take them everyday and you will see results in a couple of months. I realize that it's hard to be patient with acne! |

| Pros | Works well, more convenient than slathering creams on your face almost constantly, plus you get to avoid the burning and dryness that comes with most prescription acne creams. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Aside from the stomach-based issues that have been mentioned endlessly, after taking doxycycline for a month, I learned that yeast infections were not just the domain of women. Just saying. |
| Bottom line | Between the constantly upset stomach and the yeast infection, I decided that acne was the lesser of all evils. I stopped taking the doxycycline after the yeast infection turned up, and whenever I would take even one pill, the yeast infection would flare up and I'd have to make sure I was always within close proximity to a washroom. Plus antibiotics aren't a long term fix anyways. I, for one, don't feel all that inclined to disturbing the bacterial balances of my body indefinitely. Further along that grain, replacing a benign skin issue with one that is, ahem, less socially accepted was hardly appealing. The only thing appealing was the cost. I was prescribed Periostat to be taken multiple times daily (20mg 3x/day) and though the sticker price is $3/pill, it worked out to $10 for 90 pills once the insurance kicked in. |

| Pros | No side effects, worked in about 3 days, with resolution of nodular acne that I've had for the last 15 years! One 50mg capsule a day, $4 generic at the local pharmacy, and my face is CLEAR!!! |
|---|---|
| Cons | None! |
| Bottom line | Highly recommended fix for nodular acne. After years (since I was 13) of suffering from acne, which changed into nodular acne in my 30's, I am now blemish-free! Wow. |

| Pros | Instead of paying an estimated 20 bucks a month for brand acne medications that contains benzoyl peroxide which irritates and burns the skin, You can swallow the pill down with no worries its better then relying on topical applications! |
|---|---|
| Cons | severe nausea, possible vomiting, mood swings, dry skin,- "so you may look a little white." hypertension, fatigue, |
| Bottom line | You must take this pill for the duration of time it tells you to on the prescription bottle unless you want the chance of vomiting, also preferably in the morning I suggest you take with food because your body is still "waking up," be cautious if your going out to tan make sure you wear sunblock some people may experience reactions while on that antibiotic, and the answer is "yes, it is ok to go tanning." for the most part I would suggest this product to anyone who is SERIOUS about completely clearing their acne. You will see the difference in about week and a half. |

| Pros | Convenient package; cheap; easy to swallow |
|---|---|
| Cons | Doesn't work |
| Bottom line | I only used the product for a week and I know that I should have been more patient with it.... but it didn't do anything for me. I initially had side effects of an upset stomach, but by day 3 of the medicine it was better. |
