| Pros | Regular Periods Reduced PMS (For me) Slightly Clearer skin |
|---|---|
| Cons | Mood Swings Weight Gain (+/- 10lbs) and cravings Headaches Depression Hair Loss |
| Bottom line | I was placed on Diane 35 as a last resort before Roaccutane, I have been suffering with mild acne for about 11 years now (I'm 24). I was originally on Yasmin which gave me no major side-effects but was not clearing my skin up adequately. I have very fair, sensitive and acne scarred skin (redness, broken veins) so essentially I'm in a bind, sensitive products are too rich, acne products, too harsh, SPF cream triggers acne. I'm really at the end of my rope! After being on Diane for three months I am seriously considering giving it up, the weight gain and increased appetite (especially for comfort foods) is not doing me ANY justice. Especially since the improvement in my skin is minimal. I am always hungry and emotional, a horrid combination. Before I was able to simply diet, or cut out foods that were bad for me, but I have sugar and carbohydrate cravings every day now. As for the hair loss I have always had thin hair but now it's falling out in droves. Plus I have a very limited libido, so all in all my experience of Diane was not a good one. I'm going off the pill for a while, these side-effects are a bit much. |

| Pros | cleared up skin |
|---|---|
| Cons | Had bloating and weight gain of about 5lbs |
| Bottom line | This product worked for me. I've been off and on it since I was 22yrs old (i'm now 33). The longest stretch I was on it was from 22yrs until I was 29 yrs b/c I wanted to get pregnant. My skin was consistantly clear the whole time I was on it except for the initial first 4-6 mo while it was getting my acne under control. I have suffered with acne since about the age of 12. I've been on Accutane 5 times! I've been on every topical Rx med, antibiotic and OTC treatment there is. I've tried Proactiv and Murad which did nothing for me. I was also on spiro as well which did work well for me. I've just had my 2nd child about 5 mo ago and slowly my skin is starting to get worse. And b/c I'm breastfeeding I'm limited to what I can take. FYI this pill is not approved for BC. It is for acne it even says so on the box "acne therapy" . Also, there is no cure for acne, so to those who said that when they went off of Diane they couldn't believe that their acne came back, I'm just wondering what you expected? When you were taking it, it was in your system and doing its job (lessening the androgen hormone in your system) so when you stop taking it don't you think its only logical that your acne would come back? Any way, it does work there are side effects as there are with all meds, you just have to figure out if the benefit outweighs the risk for you. |

| Pros | fewer smaller pimples without inflammation, less oily skin |
|---|---|
| Cons | Decreased libido, bloated feeling, "massive hair loss!!" |
| Bottom line | I started taking Diane 35 after 2 sittings of glycolic peels left me with huge inflammed never drying pimples mainly on my cheeks! they were horribly angry looking pimples. I ditched my dermat and decided to take Diane. It worked wonder. Quickly dried up my acne, very few small non-inflammed pimples. I was happy, it was working! But during 1 week of gap I noticed my hair falling out like a thick ribbon!! I cried all morning :,( I discontinued it after that and now started isotretinoin from another dermat. But my roomie took Diane 35 for 5-6 months. She didnt had hair loss and is relatively pimple free for abt 1 and half yr. She also had moderately severe acne on face, back and chest, with family history. So, i say, try it .... and if u've hair loss like me discontinue it. But if no major side effect then it's the best! Good luck! |

| Pros | No more acne |
|---|---|
| Cons | Bigger boobs, though this is really only a con to me. |
| Bottom line | I had horrible acne, my face was covered, I mean I had 5 to 10 big red painful spots all the time. From when I was thirteen until I started this pill (i am 20 now), and i cannot even count how many products i tried. The first couple months i didn't notice much change, but now i have been taking it for about 6 months and i haven't had any thing, except for those pesky red scars which will take a while to heel as i have very fair skin. This is the first week since i discovered concealer that i have had the confidence to leave my house without makeup on. As for blood clots, this is an issue with most forms of birth control, but my doctor just had me get a blood test before i started this medication to see if blood clotting would be an issue, luckily it isn't. I read the other reviews on here before i started this medication, but so far i am just glad to finally be able to jump in a pool without worrying about my makeup coming off. P.S. If your Canadian, my prescription is covered on both Greenshield and Blue Cross |

| Pros | clear skin big boobs |
|---|---|
| Cons | weight gain severe hair loss once you stop |
| Bottom line | I wouldn't use it . Sure, it gives u clear wonderfulk skin, but the pay off is horrible. I was on Diane for 2 years. Got off it and right away started to get acne back even worse then before, Two months later , I got severe hair loss. The hair on my head is falling off. I am losing a ton of hair. I had thick beautiful healthy hair and now I have half the hair I once had and my hair is still falling out. |

| Pros | lighter periods, less oily skin, no babies |
|---|---|
| Cons | mood swings, blood clodding, sensitive breasts, |
| Bottom line | Girls, don't use these pills, really! I've been taking them for about 6 months and planned to continue taking them cause my face did get better after 3-4 months of using, but then i was diagnosed with pulmonary embolism - which was a blood clod in my lungs caused by these pills. I'm lucky i get out of it alive. So i'll be taking another pills for almost a year to get back to normal again. Also, the moment i stopped taking Diane, the acne came back again.. It's really not worth risking your health for this. In meanwhile i switched to OCM and more healthier way of living and that's sure the best way to clear acne and stay healthy. I wouldn't recommend Diane, nor any birth control pills whatsoever. It was really bad for me. But if you plan taking ones, check with your doctor about the hormonal status and everything and do every possible test to make sure your body can handle them, cause they can do some serious damage |

| Pros | it works as BC |
|---|---|
| Cons | acne is getting really bad! boobs are to tender to touch (so bra's are out) slight mood swings |
| Bottom line | i have been on Diane for exactly a month now, i had really bad acne as a teen my doc put me on BC and just like that it was gone however all the side affects were too much for me, so i stopped for a few years. Now i'm back on Diane after reading about what it can do for the skin but i'v had such a huge break out my skin has never looked this bad!! i'm hoping that this is just for the first month or two of using this product and that it will start clearing up soon. I'll carry on using Diane for a few more months to see what happens and because Rome wasnt built in a day....so i'll let you guys now how it turns out. |

| Pros | none I can recall |
|---|---|
| Cons | caused persistent melasma |
| Bottom line | I used it for 6 months for my irregularities about 8 years ago, yes it help for that matter but I had very fine skin although had light acne problems. These pills left awful looking dark patches which get worse with sunshine exposure and acne problem was not gone either. Since then I have been trying everything to my melasma stains nothing works permanently. Recently I have been using Dan's jojoba oil, it seems they've got lighten a bit. It also worked my other friend who has worse melasma condition. So if you don't really need these pills don't use it for acne because it is not a solution. |
