This is my third year on diane and this pill has done wonders to my skin. Complete freedom from acne!

I'd been on Diane-35 for about 3 years and it worked wonderfully for my skin. Unfortunately the side effects seemed to sneak up on me in that time and I had just no sex drive after the first year or so. I also found that everything had less effect on me...I'd cry more but it was more of a general feeling of hopelessness than being upset by anything. I came off the pill a few months ago, and my outlook seems to have improved a lot (even though my skin breaks out a bit again), but I still don't have a sex drive yet. This is annoying because it was quite strong before going on the pill. Having said that, my periods aren't back to normal yet, so maybe it's just taking a bit longer for my body to get back into the swing of things. Has anyone else taken this long to get their sex drive back after coming off Diane?

I have tried about 6 different types of BCP's and finally settled with Diane because I was so frustrated and basically gave up trying to find the "perfect" pill for me. As it turns out I stayed on Diane 35 for about 4 years. During this time I suspected it was affecting my moods, libido and general state of mind. But I did not know for sure, so I just kept on it because I knew it was helping my acne (somewhat)....Finally my lack of libido and feelings of emptiness were beginning to affect my relationship. My fiance commeted on my low sex drive and just couldn't understand how the pill could do this alone. So as an experiment and to prove that I wasn't crazy I stopped taking Diane 35 and in about one week my libido went up (way up). Furthermore, my mood, energy and general outlook on life seemed to improve. Now for the bad side of this little experiment - my did start to flare up again and became very oily. I guess the benefits of improved sex and mood were important enough, because I am off the pill and am enjoying having my old self back (so is my man). I'm not happy about the acne (at all), but am considering minocycline and some other topical creams. My entire experience BCPs has been a case of choosing the lesser of two evils. There is always a downside with any pill. I guess I've finally come to realize that feeling good on the inside is more important than how I look on the outside. I will never go back to Diane 35, especially after reading the comments of other woman who have exerienced so many terrible side affects. If there is a pill out there that has non of the bad side effects, I sure haven't come accross it yet! Condoms rule!

I was prescribed Diane 35-ED in my teens to control my hormonal acne. After a short time, my acne completely cleared up, but not in innocence. Everything was great for about a year, but then the side effects started to come into play. I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety, lost motivation for life (whereby before, I was full of life), eventually I had rapid weight loss, was then diagnosed with Anorexia Nervousa, and battled this illness over 4 years, while still on Diane. I suffered with insomnia, insecurites, and the list just goes on and on. Being totalling fed up with feeling horrible, and after a process of elimination, believed Diane to be the cause behind my anxieties. I stopped taking Diane, and almost immediately I began to sleep soundly, could think rationally, gained self confidence back and didn't suffer with anxiey. I won the battle over my eating disorder (this of course didn't happen overnight, I went through years of counceling, dietetic advice, many stays in hospital, and had wonderful family support). Noteably my acne did return, but I've found ways to manage it naturally (by avoiding chemicals in my diet, and using organic skin care products), without the need for horrible drugs like Diane 35 ED. Yes, Diane does clear up acne, but is losing your zest for life and suffering in other ways, really worth clear skin. Only you can answer that - but my advice is stay away from Diane 35-ED, it's really not worth it.

Diane 35 cleared me up in about three months the first time I tried it, but I'd gained so much weight on it that I decided to quit for a year... well, my acne came back and I put myself back on it, and thankfully I haven't gained anything back this time ;)

My skin is gorgeous as of right now - I get the very occasional zit and the very rare breakout... but all and all, if you're breaking out around your jaw area and usually around your period, this might just work for you.

I've been taking Diane 35 Ed for my acne for just over 3 months now. My skin hasn't cleared up yet. The doctor said to give it 6 months to a year :-( Haven't had any bad side effects. My breasts have gotten bigger and I've gained about 3 kg which is good for me as I'm underweight. My libido hasn't changed.

I've been taking DIANE 35 for 7 years now and I've always been very happy with it. My skin was very bad and I've tried everything before my doctor suggested the pill. My skin improved within the first couple of months and was perfect ever since. But I'm starting to think that DIANE 35 prevents me from orgasming easier - especially during intercourse.

I have been on other Ortho-Tricyclen before and that didn't work at all for me, so I was skeptical about trying this one. After using antibiotics for years (which did work), I wanted to try something else. Then I tried Diane - skin cleared in about 4 months. I went off it after about 1.5 years thinking everything would be under control and acne came back very bad, along with oily skin, oily hair, etc. I went on again and it has been 4 months and I'm clear again, but still have red marks which didn't fade even after my first time on it for 1.5 years. My advice would be that it could work for you if you have mod/severe acne (like i did), but don't want to try accutane. However, I think it is common to have very oily hair/skin if you decide to discontinue it. Also wanted to say that I didn't experience many side effects (ie. no wt. gain, no hair loss, no pains/aches anywhere; maybe some more bloating than usual, and a very slight decrease in sex drive).
