Bottom Line:I've been on Alesse for over a month and since then I've had a new pimple at least each day. right now, the pimples around my mouth area is so bad, everyone is saying omg what the hell happened to your skin. before I had acne but no where as near as bad. and just when I think it's stopped another one pops up. I'm so fed up that tomorrow I'm going to start taking Diane. I really hope it helps.

Pros:during usage - minimum pain during that time of the month
Cons:post usage - constant stomach pain, extreme acne outbreaks
Bottom Line:i am engaged to a wonder man who just simple wants me to have the best in life, and after i told him what the side-effects of taking this pill was, we immediately decided that abstinance was the answer.

It stopped my acne outbreaks for about 3 months and after that, i experiened ance outbreaks everyday since. I am now using a treatment - clear.now, which is the only treatment that has proven effective.

Pros:I only had very very mild acne. But all of my friends were on this pill and looking great so I decided to give it a try. It didn't do much for me- I attribute my clear skin to Benzoyl Peroxide
Cons:Don't want to come off of it and end up looking like a Pizza
Bottom Line:What it does currently and what going off of it can do make this pill VERY addictive

I would not recommend going on it unless your condition is severe

Doctors hand this out like there's no tomorrow which is fine for me now, but I only wish they'd questioned me before allowing me to commence taking this pill

Pros:Clears skin, birth control
Cons:Loss of libido, vaginal dryness, chronic yeast infections
Bottom Line:I would strongly advise anyone thinking of taking this medication to reconsider. Yes it did clear up my acne (mild-moderate) but the side effects were definately not worth it. This pill is an anti-androgen. Androgens are responsible for sex-drive. No wonder than that taking this pill totally killed my libido. The other side effects I had were vaginal dryness and yeast infections that refused to go away no matter what I did. After about 3-4 months of stopping the pill my acne came back about twice as bad as it was before. Now I'm on roaccutane - the only product on the market that offers the possibility of a cure for acne. I only wish I would have taken roaccutane in the first place instead of messing around with that horrible pill. Hopefully this helps someone.

Pros:Less acne, bigger boobs
Cons:Weight Gain, painful periods
Bottom Line:I've only been on the pill for two months, but can honestly say that my skin has improved dramatically, yet I put on 2kg. I haven't suffered depression or anything, my self esteem has sky rocketed!

hi im 19 and i was just diagnosed with PCOS, and my doctor advised me to go on Diane 35, but after reading all your comments, I am very afraid to go on this pill. I do have the symptoms of PCOS like excess hair, very little acne, excess weight around the waist- i guess im just afraid of gaining weight, having my face worsen or lost of hair on my scalp....any advice yall can give me, i would really appreciate it

Ive been on Diane35 for about 4 and a half years now. Its been great for my acne. I havent had to think about it at all for all this time. Im thinking of going off the pill now bcause of its side effects-my hair has started falling in clumps, my cholesterol level is REALLY high ( I exercise 6 days a week, and eat pretty healthy most of the time), and of couse I cant seem to shake off the 5-10 pounds Ive gained because of the pill.
Im really anxious-will keep u posted.

I have been on the birth control pill for 10 years and have tried almost every type out there. I was on Diane 35 for acne a few years ago and it worked well, so my dematologist decided to prescribe it to me again. After 3 weeks of use, I had to discontinue Diane 35 due to a possible pulmunary embolism ( I had mild chest pains, trouble breathing and shortness of breath, as well as a feeling like I could breathe but wasn't getting enough O2). I would suggest anyone who has these symptoms to get off the pill all together. In my opinion, the benefits of clearing up acne compared to the health risk just isn't worth it....

i've been on diane for about four years now. i went off of it for about a year, my acne came back and i was having crazy mood swings. once i went back on it, my skin cleared up and my moods regulated again.
i love diane. i think its great. except its a little expensive. but to think of what i would pay in creams and treatments for the acne that i would have, its really not that big of a cost.
i havent lost any hair or gained weight due to it. and i dont care if it f**ks with my reproductability, cuz i dont want to have kids anyway. perfect drug for me!

I was on it for I believe almost 2 years. I didnt notice how well it worked until I went off it. Now I have hair growing back on my chin etc stronger than ever and even my legs. I can't wait to get back on it again. I pluck the hair on my face daily now, before I could get away with one or two hairs here or there. If you are on it and notice a reduction do not go off it. I really regret that! My sex drive was next to nothing on it, it increased when I went off though. My husband noticed the difference. I'm nto sure if there are any other pills out there for hair growth, but I'm assuming any bcp will lower sex drive.
