I was on the pill for two years.. my skin cleared up straight away ..I was realy impressed. It makes me nausea real bad tho, and at christmas I went off it because it was making me vomit.. I was spot free (just one or two spots sometimes) for nearly 8 months when my acne started to return over a week ago.. I am now back on diane 35 about five days. The nausea is horrible, but is getting better and my skin is drying up a bit! so please let this work. I find it so tough as I am sure a lot of people who use this site do. I have acne scarring that regardless of acne returning or not gets me down so much. I find When you read reviews on pill, creams etc your always going to read 10 or so comments saying"wow amazing worked great for me" and another ten saying "it was awful caused me this problem etc etc.. so its so hard to know whats right for you and what realy is good. I freak myself out and convince myself the pill or this or that cream is bad when I read neagtive comments and when I read positive comments ... I become over confident with what I am using will work.. bottom line realy is if you find something good and don't suffer much negative effects etc than stick to it and stay away from readng too many negative reviews on a product or on diane 35 if you find it good. It will only stress you out and maybe bring on ill effects and more acne..............jez I wish I could take my own advise. sorry if I bored yee all

Pros

  • cleared skin up. less breakouts

Cons

  • nausea.....nausea...nausea.. so bad!! always feel hungry.
  • moderate
  • inconsistently
  • $ 15
  • I recommend using this treatment.

I'm back and ready to be brutally honest about this product!

at the time of my first review i had been on Diana 35 for a month that was about 2 months ago and to tell you the truth not much has changed....which leads me to believe that this product will work really well for it's indented use as a BC but if you looking for immediate relief from acne then this is not the direction you should be headed in.

i do believe that it does work (just slowly) because every week i see a little less redness and a little less acne, iv also been using a very good moisturising face soap and i dont wear make up in the week anymore (that helps!!!!)

but all in all i have faith in Diane and I'm patient, good things that last take time...if people dont like what they see then they shouldn't look! XD

Pros

  • the nausea has stopped!!!
  • a little weight gain (yes thats a good thing)
  • no PMS!! yay!!!

Cons

  • boobs are really tender
  • still some acne
  • skin is drying out a little
  • moderate
  • for a few months
  • $ 21
  • I recommend using this treatment.

I was placed on Diane 35 as a last resort before Roaccutane, I have been suffering with mild acne for about 11 years now (I'm 24). I was originally on Yasmin which gave me no major side-effects but was not clearing my skin up adequately.

I have very fair, sensitive and acne scarred skin (redness, broken veins) so essentially I'm in a bind, sensitive products are too rich, acne products, too harsh, SPF cream triggers acne. I'm really at the end of my rope!

After being on Diane for three months I am seriously considering giving it up, the weight gain and increased appetite (especially for comfort foods) is not doing me ANY justice. Especially since the improvement in my skin is minimal. I am always hungry and emotional, a horrid combination.

Before I was able to simply diet, or cut out foods that were bad for me, but I have sugar and carbohydrate cravings every day now.

As for the hair loss I have always had thin hair but now it's falling out in droves.

Plus I have a very limited libido, so all in all my experience of Diane was not a good one.

I'm going off the pill for a while, these side-effects are a bit much.

Pros

  • Regular Periods
  • Reduced PMS
  • (For me) Slightly Clearer skin

Cons

  • Mood Swings
  • Weight Gain (+/- 10lbs) and cravings
  • Headaches
  • Depression
  • Hair Loss
  • moderate
  • for a few months
  • $ 10
  • I do not recommend using this treatment.

This product worked for me. I've been off and on it since I was 22yrs old (i'm now 33). The longest stretch I was on it was from 22yrs until I was 29 yrs b/c I wanted to get pregnant. My skin was consistantly clear the whole time I was on it except for the initial first 4-6 mo while it was getting my acne under control. I have suffered with acne since about the age of 12. I've been on Accutane 5 times! I've been on every topical Rx med, antibiotic and OTC treatment there is. I've tried Proactiv and Murad which did nothing for me. I was also on spiro as well which did work well for me. I've just had my 2nd child about 5 mo ago and slowly my skin is starting to get worse. And b/c I'm breastfeeding I'm limited to what I can take.

FYI this pill is not approved for BC. It is for acne it even says so on the box "acne therapy" . Also, there is no cure for acne, so to those who said that when they went off of Diane they couldn't believe that their acne came back, I'm just wondering what you expected? When you were taking it, it was in your system and doing its job (lessening the androgen hormone in your system) so when you stop taking it don't you think its only logical that your acne would come back? Any way, it does work there are side effects as there are with all meds, you just have to figure out if the benefit outweighs the risk for you.

Pros

  • cleared up skin

Cons

  • Had bloating and weight gain of about 5lbs
  • light
  • for more than a year
  • $ 23
  • I recommend using this treatment.

I started taking Diane 35 after 2 sittings of glycolic peels left me with huge inflammed never drying pimples mainly on my cheeks! they were horribly angry looking pimples. I ditched my dermat and decided to take Diane. It worked wonder. Quickly dried up my acne, very few small non-inflammed pimples.

I was happy, it was working!

But during 1 week of gap I noticed my hair falling out like a thick ribbon!! I cried all morning :,( I discontinued it after that and now started isotretinoin from another dermat.

But my roomie took Diane 35 for 5-6 months. She didnt had hair loss and is relatively pimple free for abt 1 and half yr. She also had moderately severe acne on face, back and chest, with family history.

So, i say, try it .... and if u've hair loss like me discontinue it. But if no major side effect then it's the best!

Good luck!

Pros

  • fewer smaller pimples without inflammation, less oily skin

Cons

  • Decreased libido, bloated feeling, "massive hair loss!!"
  • moderately severe
  • for a few months
  • $ 5.5
  • I recommend using this treatment.

I had horrible acne, my face was covered, I mean I had 5 to 10 big red painful spots all the time. From when I was thirteen until I started this pill (i am 20 now), and i cannot even count how many products i tried. The first couple months i didn't notice much change, but now i have been taking it for about 6 months and i haven't had any thing, except for those pesky red scars which will take a while to heel as i have very fair skin. This is the first week since i discovered concealer that i have had the confidence to leave my house without makeup on.

As for blood clots, this is an issue with most forms of birth control, but my doctor just had me get a blood test before i started this medication to see if blood clotting would be an issue, luckily it isn't.

I read the other reviews on here before i started this medication, but so far i am just glad to finally be able to jump in a pool without worrying about my makeup coming off.

P.S. If your Canadian, my prescription is covered on both Greenshield and Blue Cross

Pros

  • No more acne

Cons

  • Bigger boobs, though this is really only a con to me.
  • severe
  • for a few months
  • I recommend using this treatment.

Girls, don't use these pills, really! I've been taking them for about 6 months and planned to continue taking them cause my face did get better after 3-4 months of using, but then i was diagnosed with pulmonary embolism - which was a blood clod in my lungs caused by these pills. I'm lucky i get out of it alive. So i'll be taking another pills for almost a year to get back to normal again.

Also, the moment i stopped taking Diane, the acne came back again.. It's really not worth risking your health for this. In meanwhile i switched to OCM and more healthier way of living and that's sure the best way to clear acne and stay healthy.

I wouldn't recommend Diane, nor any birth control pills whatsoever. It was really bad for me. But if you plan taking ones, check with your doctor about the hormonal status and everything and do every possible test to make sure your body can handle them, cause they can do some serious damage

Pros

  • lighter periods, less oily skin, no babies

Cons

  • mood swings, blood clodding, sensitive breasts,
  • moderate
  • for a few months
  • $ 2.5
  • I do not recommend using this treatment.
