Pros: Not sure yet. Cons: Very painfull, itchy, and red. I was not prepared for this long recovery. Bottom Line: I had upper lip dermabration for wrinkles one month ago. After the procedure it looked like I ate a jelly doenut...very bloody. It took about ten days for for a scab to form and fall off. The skin is now very pink/red,swollen,itchy, and smoother at this time. I will let you know if this improves next month. I sure hope so...my daughter is getting married in March. Pros: The pros are, I have no more freckles and no more forehead lines. Cons: I wasted $6000, I now have 4x the scars I started with. Bottom Line: I wasted $6,000. Before I had minimal scarring that I was obsessed about on the left side of my face. Now I have 4X that amt,from the bottom of my cheekbones to my jaw line, I now have saucer and lines.I researched & waited yrs. PLEASE don't do this By the way, it seems no matter how long you have been going to the doctor and no matter how reputable, you are still a number and they somehow, remember your acne scars as worse before the surgery. Pros: hypertrophic scars leave, but depressed scars show little improvement,i use dermatix silicone gel on the treated area, good result seen Cons: skin becomes excessively coarse, pores are extremely enlarged(just like orange peel).i was very distressed to see my face,cuz i was expected too much improvement before, but i can't see any change. Bottom Line: after dermabrasion,it should be accompanied by the rich antioxident diet,like vitC,A,E,zinc and copper rich containing diet.n eat rich fibre diet,defeacate eveyday,don't allow toxic substance stay in u'r body.it'll improve healing process and new skin'll be better than the previous.sleep early n sleep much(at least 8hrs).don't use AHA and doing chemical peeling after the treatment as it'll make worse of the scars and acid containing treatment cream should be avoid,live in a dark place.artificial light also contain UV,so don't miss suncreen at night also,but can wear off when u sleep(switch off the light).BEWARE:don't be so aggitative when u can't see improvement and buying many products for improve redness and scars as redness will fade by itself after 3 mths, n skin is too soft to withstand the effects of many hard cosmetics.the most suitable product is silicone gel or cream or sheet. Pros: Scar healed Cons: Lasting redness Bottom Line: I'm having the redness problem from dermabrasion. Does anyone know how to heal lasting redness from Dermabrasion? Pros: Smooth the scars Cons: More scarriong, hypermentation for about 6 months. Bottom Line: Dermabration is good for medium scars but it just improve a little bit with each treatment wich its mean that for see best resulst u most have at least 3 treatment. I already have 2 but I make the mistake that in the first one my dr a surgeron just made my cheek area and it form a hipermantation and some scarring then the second dermabration I did in the whole face with a dermatologist and he recommended to do the whole face for even result.I would say that I just see like 20% of improvement and Im having starting the tca cross wich doesnt afected the rest of the skin and fallow of tca cross I will have subsicion in conjuction with fraxel. Pros: I honestly have to say - none Cons: I decided on dermabrasion because of some slight acne scarring and ended up with severe indentations in my cheek- I am VERY unhappy - I am willing to share pictures with whomever would like to see them. Bottom Line: Though I am sure dermabrasion works for some - had I known the negative impact it would have on me - I would have NEVER done it - beware. Pros: Got rid of 50% of the deepest of scars, more even tone skin. Cons: Took 6 months for skin to return to normal color. Use high SPF sunscreen but remember not to overload or else can cause terrible irritation due to skin's sensitivity after procedure. Can't eat seafood, sticky rice, peanuts, beef, tea, yam for 3 mnth Bottom Line: Can boost one's confidence due to having a more even texture, tone skin but need to be extremely cautious in taking of skin. Use gentle cleanser like Cetaphil and moisturizer with spf at least 30 2x/day (morning and night). Skin will be very sensitive... so watch out... watch out...of using irritating products on face! Pros: slight improvement of acne scars. Cons: long time to heal, hypertrophic scarring. Bottom Line: I just had a dermabrassion in oct 2007. I was very optimistic. The dermabrassion was done of both cheeks. Part of it healed well, but the lower part of my cheeks developed hypertrophic scars and that area still very red. I am more self consious now about the redness and hypertrophic scars than the acne scars I had before. I am one of those unlucky people that developed hypertrophic scars. I took good care of my face after the surgery. And i went to a good surgeon. I wouldn't recommend it. Its a big risk. you may end up worst. I am still hoping that the redness will go away and the hypertrophic scars will fade with steroid injections. Recommended: Yes Price Paid: 600.00 Was this comment helpful? Pros: I didn't see any pros for this! Cons: It takes forever to heal up. Your skin is raw...I looked like I was in some sort of an accident. Expect to hide out at home for a week or two. Also, extremely expensive. Bottom Line: I had the dermabrassion combined with a TCA peel to try to diminish my scars. I was very red for months afterwards (which made the scars even more noticeable). Once healed, I literally saw NO improvement. To go through the recovery and have spent that amount of money for no change what so ever was disheartening. I know my plastic surgeon was reputable and higly qualified, it just didn't work for me. I would not recommend this at all! Recommended: No Price Paid: 1,500.00 Was this comment helpful? Pros: My face looked great right after but didn't look different in the long run. Scars don't look different either. Cons: Cost Bottom Line: Not worth the money.
