| Pros: | I honestly have to say - none |
| Cons: | I decided on dermabrasion because of some slight acne scarring and ended up with severe indentations in my cheek- I am VERY unhappy - I am willing to share pictures with whomever would like to see them. |
| Bottom Line: | Though I am sure dermabrasion works for some - had I known the negative impact it would have on me - I would have NEVER done it - beware. |

| Pros: | Got rid of 50% of the deepest of scars, more even tone skin. |
| Cons: | Took 6 months for skin to return to normal color. Use high SPF sunscreen but remember not to overload or else can cause terrible irritation due to skin's sensitivity after procedure. Can't eat seafood, sticky rice, peanuts, beef, tea, yam for 3 mnth |
| Bottom Line: | Can boost one's confidence due to having a more even texture, tone skin but need to be extremely cautious in taking of skin. Use gentle cleanser like Cetaphil and moisturizer with spf at least 30 2x/day (morning and night). Skin will be very sensitive... so watch out... watch out...of using irritating products on face! |

| Pros: | slight improvement of acne scars. |
| Cons: | long time to heal, hypertrophic scarring. |
| Bottom Line: | I just had a dermabrassion in oct 2007. I was very optimistic. The dermabrassion was done of both cheeks. Part of it healed well, but the lower part of my cheeks developed hypertrophic scars and that area still very red. I am more self consious now about the redness and hypertrophic scars than the acne scars I had before. I am one of those unlucky people that developed hypertrophic scars. I took good care of my face after the surgery. And i went to a good surgeon. I wouldn't recommend it. Its a big risk. you may end up worst. I am still hoping that the redness will go away and the hypertrophic scars will fade with steroid injections. |

| Pros: | smooth skin, smaller pores etc etc etc but if you want to get rid of acne forever... ACCUTANE IS A MIRACLE WORKER! use it for 4-5 months and u will NE VER have acne again!! ACCUTANE ACCUTANE ACCUTANE ACCUTANE!!! acne dissapears within 3 weeks!! |
| Cons: | none |
| Bottom Line: | I cant believe so many of you had bad experiences with MICRODERMABRASION!!! I LOVE IT!
I think its great! My facialist does the micro treatment, then steams my face , gives me a mini glycolic peel and then does extractions, the microderm removes all the dead skin , so if you do extractions immediately after, it is a lot easier and less painful.
The only down time is the redness caused by the extractions ( squeezing ) and the peel, and its gone the next day. Other than that ur face is a little red for a couple of hours. Definitely not weeks like some people mentioned, well at least not for me.
It only makes sense that if u remove the dead skin from ur face , it reveals newer , softer one. i usually do it once a month and the cost including the peel and extractions is 130.00$ IMPORTANT==== make sure u go somewhere reputable, if its done wrong, obviously u wont have good results. If its too cheap (innexpensive) beware...i believe that in many cases u get wha |

| Pros: | I didn't see any pros for this! |
| Cons: | It takes forever to heal up. Your skin is raw...I looked like I was in some sort of an accident. Expect to hide out at home for a week or two. Also, extremely expensive. |
| Bottom Line: | I had the dermabrassion combined with a TCA peel to try to diminish my scars. I was very red for months afterwards (which made the scars even more noticeable). Once healed, I literally saw NO improvement. To go through the recovery and have spent that amount of money for no change what so ever was disheartening. I know my plastic surgeon was reputable and higly qualified, it just didn't work for me. I would not recommend this at all! |

| Pros: | leaves skin soft and somehwat improves red marks leftover from old acne |
| Cons: | Is not a dramatic enough change to warrant the cost. |
| Bottom Line: | I had a series of 6 microdermabrasion treatments done at my dermatologists office, scheduled one month apart. My skin felt much softer nad it did help a tiny bit with old acne marks but not enough to warrant paying $70 a session. It did nothing for my melasma either. it was a nice exfoliation though but overall I think this is highly overrated. |

| Pros: | Light scar marks were removed |
| Cons: | Terrible damage done to the skin |
| Bottom Line: | Initially I felt it was working well for me, but after two weeks I could see that there was no changes. I was in a dilemma what to do with my scars. After a week one of my co-worker recommended that I use zenmed's scar and hyperpigmentation kit. Believe me the results were amazing. |

| Pros: | Evened skin tone a bit...faded my cystic acne stars a little bit as well. |
| Cons: | initially, the dermabrasion worsened my skin. Blemishes that I thought were gone reappered, and the ones already existing stood out more. |
| Bottom Line: | I had and still have cystic acne. I dermatologist put me on oral anti-biotics, so they have been SLOWLY drying up and going away. My skin tone was very uneven due to excessive sun exposure and acne scarring, so he recommeneded dermapeel. The pimpled got smaller and my complexion improved (not drastically). Im dark skinned, so I didnt get red or anything. The good results take a while to achieve though, about a month or two. |

| Pros: | None. |
| Cons: | Lasting redness, long healing time, expensive, looks worse now, more self-conscious now. |
| Bottom Line: | I have a scar on my face. I had underwent dermabrasion about six years ago, and the redness around the site healed within three months. Second time around (in March 2007), the redness stayed. I've been to several dermatologists.. now they're recommending Fraxel laser. One says it can help the redness, one says it can't. I have NO idea what to do.. and am depressed that this redness could last forever. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. This is NOT a success story.. sorry to be a downer. |
