Pros Natural, affordable, smells delicious, has many other uses.
Cons It does make your skin shiny at first, but absorbs in about 10-15 min or just put some powder on top.
Bottom line I've been battling with sever acne for 3 years now, and have been using proactiv for 1 year. Proactiv has helped a lot but always left my skin dry in areas (I can only use it once a day), and I still had minor blemishes constantly. I started using coconut oil on my hair and it smelled so delicious I started using it as a moisturizer. After about a week my skin was feeling great, smooth, soft, balanced (not dry or oily anywhere). Now it's been just about a month and my skin has become clearer all over and there have been no new break outs.

How to use: Wash your face with whatever acne wash you use, then take about a a fingernail sized amount of coconut oil and rub it between your palms until it melts, then rub over your face.

Highly recommended.

Pros Great for eczema
A good body oil (when you avoid acne prone areas)
Smells like a coconut dessert
Cons HORRIBLE for acne!
Must melt it before using (unless you're in a hot climate)
Bottom line I'm VERY surprised at all these good reviews on coconut oil. In all other respects, it's fantastic, but it's HIGHLY comedogenic. I used it once on my face for an hour or so, and the next day my face was riddled with cystic acne (mind you my face is very reactive). Yes, it does have anti-inflammatory properties- But... Even if it calms the swelling and redness of existing pimples, it will clog your pores and make more. Try it on your nails, hands, eczema patches, feet, hair, but NOT on an acne-prone face or back.

Pros Cheap, easy, natural
Cons messy, doesn't fully absorb so your skin looks oily. didn't really clear my acne.
Bottom line I think coconut oil works moderately well. I used it for a long time with some results, but no miracles. I do really like the fact that it is natural. After using coconut oil I started some research into natural face products and I found this AMAZING company called In Love with Bodycare. They use coconut oil in a lot of their products, along with other natural ingredients. These products have seriously changed my life. My skin is always completely clear now. I haven't had a break out in a year. I can't even express how awesome the face wash and lotion is. YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS. I am someone who has tried everything, and I this is the only thing that has worked 100% for me. I know how awful it feels to have breakouts and this really, really works. Please check this company out, it is so, so worth it.

Pros Kills cystic acne
Calms other forms of acne down
Cons Sometimes the greasy feeling makes me feel uneasy. However, this is the ONLY con I can think of and it really is negligible considering how much coco oil has done to help me.
Bottom line When I was 21 I started breaking out like never before. As a teenager the most I ever suffered with acne was the occasional spot.

The day I turned 23, a cyst broke out on my face. I had no idea what it was, but when it became clear that it wasn't going away, and more started showing up I realized I had a problem. Three dermatologist visits, and four horrible rashes from the medicine they prescribed me later, (which caused my skin to age 20 years, for a few months), I grew fed up with the clinical approach. I tried all kinds of cleansers, skin care products and natural remedies. Nothing provided true relief. Finally a year and a half later I stumbled upon coconut oil while doing research on other natural cures. This was my last ditch effort, because my will and patience were running extremely thin. Long story short, the coconut oil has done WONDERS from my skin. I still have small break outs but it is NOWHERE near as bad as it used to be. Previously I was breaking out in new cysts every other week and I have only broken out in one cyst since I began (mid-october)-which was a result of an illness. That cyst cleared up COMPLETELY in two days from a combination of coconut oil and garlic (used topically). Please note though, that if you are using garlic topically you have to be EXTREMELY careful not to overdo it and burn your skin. Doing so is easy, and can cause your skin to scar.

I recommend coconut oil HIGHLY to everyone suffering from acne. Ultimately I believe acne is cured best by diet and detoxification - which also contributed to the clearing of my cysts (Holler, master cleanse!), but coconut oil really helps in the endeavor. It is one of nature's strongest anti-bacterial agents, which is why it is so effective at killing acne.

Don't lose all hope if you have cystic acne. Try coconut oil, because the worst that can happen is that it won't work for you.

Pros tasty, great for skin or hair moisturizing
Cons break outs!
Bottom line this left my oily, clog-prone, acneic skin a wreck. i can't believe I thought this would be good as an *acne* treatment. approach w/ caution. (fyi, in my experience, only grapeseed oil hasn't broken me out, and even then only in very, very tiny quantities. olive oil, shea butter, and jojoba oil all ruined my skin).

Pros it clears acne, leaves skin soft, helps eczema improve ALOT
Cons leaves a slight residue
Bottom line I have been suffering from acne and eczema for about 25 years now and I have tried a lot of OTC medications but all of them either made my eczema worse or my acne worse so I decided to give coconut oil a try afer hearing about it from a friend. It leaves my skin smooth for the whole day and my acne is gone, spare the occasional small whitehead. It is GREAT!!!

Pros Great Moisturizer
Made my skin soft and supple
Helps prevent and tame acne
A little goes a long way
Delicious and Nutritious
Even Skin tone
Helped my sunburn to heal
Takes off water proof makeup easily!
Bottom line I absolutely love this stuff!

When I started college my face exploded with acne to the point I get at least 5 new ones each day. I had Whiteheads, blackheads, oily/combination skin, to cystic acne that ache and throbbed. I couldn't sleep on my side because the pillow hurt my face.

My back and chest exploded with acne as well and I tried almost everything but some made it worse like Proactiv. Wanting to go to the natural approach I found this stuff on amazon and saw the raving reviews. Skeptical I even went on you tube to see it was for real.

I decided to buy it and in the first 2 weeks I noticed a dramatic difference. Especially for my back acne. My skin didn't feel rough or patchy my skin was smoother and it look dewy at one point, and my cheeks weren't as red as before. My acne of course didn't disappear but I saw i haven't gotten new ones. I kept using it for 1 entire year and my skin is WAY MORE clearer than before. I still have the acne scars since I have hyper pigmentation. But I could easily cover it with makeup. No more bumps, patchy, aching pimples.

Routine: Morning and Night
-Wash face with a natural soap
-Witch Hazel Toner
-Differin or Epiduo once in a while. Mostly use it for a spot treatment
- Coconut Oil I first get like a teaspoon and massage it all over my face and let it soak in a little bit. Then I gently dab it with a clean tissue paper to get rid of the excess oil.

I hear many people say it feels heavy. I believe they just put too much on. A little goes a long way it should feel light but at the same time moisturizing.

Oh yes for my back and chest. First I take a shower and put a little bit in my hands and rub it around till it melts. I then massage it on my chest and back till I feel its completely absorb. Your skin will feel smoother the longer you use it :]

Pros amazing moisturizer
help hyperpigmentation
internal and external use
quickly heals old breakouts
natural
smells good
Cons use delicately
can run expensive (not as expensive as facial products though)
people's skin reacts differently to it
Bottom line Make sure to use extra virgin coconut oil because it is less likely to cloge pores. I had a massive breakout when I moved from a hot climate to a cold climate and I was under a lot of stress beccause of school. I literally tried everything and nothing seemed to make my skin better. I read a review on coconut oil and decided to give it a try.
I dissolve coconut oil in warm water and soaked it in a cotton ball to dilute it a bit. Then I lightly dab it over my face after I wash with Cetaphil and tone with apple cider vinager. Once it soaks in your skin the magic will start to happen.
i suggest trying it out on your neck or other sensitive area to see if you break out there afterward. If not then give it a go.

Pros Busted a cystic that had been around for a month.
Cons Scary to put oil on zits!
Bottom line I started ingesting 2 Tbsp of coconut oil in a morning smoothie 2 months ago. My long time troubled cystic skin improved. But I had one cystic that would never go. Only ebb and flow. So irritated, a friend said put coconut oil straight on it. I did, before bed. The next morning I got in the shower. Used the usual cetaphil. Got out, looked in the mirror and it had erupted! It was gushing gross infected looking gunk. I hadn't touched it! I put more oil on it and it felt flat. The next day a big scab layer came off revealing a tiny spot, almost healed! I'm sticking with it!

Pros Cheap, easy to use, smells good, can also use for lots of other uses like cooking and body/hair moisturizer
Cons A little expensive, hard to know which brand to choose
Bottom line I use pure, unrefined coconut oil as a moisturizer 2x a day.

Other steps in my regimen: no commercial beauty products whatsoever. I wash my face with baking soda, tone with ACV, drink 1tbsp of ACV a day, and moisturize with the pure coconut oil.

Important to note: I also cut out nearly all dairy products about 4 months ago. (I'm of Asian descent and definitely lactose intolerant.)

Results: No new major zits in over a month, for the first time in 2-3 years. When small zits happen, they dry up quickly and don't leave as much hyperpigmentation and scarring behind as I'm used to from before. My skin has more of a glow, and interestingly, my stomach feels better, too. I'm on my way to being clear, knock on wood, and will probably save over $150 dollars this year on commercial beauty products in the meantime.

Conclusion: since I'm doing a combination of new things, it's hard to know exactly what effect the coconut oil is having. But I intend to keep up with it, and really enjoy using it!
