Pros This actually works
Works under makeup
Makes my skin "glow"
Skin feels tighter
Cons Dries out face
Bottom line I use this cream with Retina, and the combination does wonders. I use clindamycin throughout my day (under my makeup), and I've definitely seen improvement!
My skin glows better than ever, and feels tighter. When you first start using clindamycin, remember to use in moderation. DON'T USE IT EVERYDAY! My skin dried out so terrible that it hurt to move my face. I rubbed large amounts of an aloe vera oil all over the dry areas for days, and get a GOOD moisturizer.

Advice: ALWAYS moisturize esp. around eyes and mouth area!

Pros Clear, dries quickly
Easy to apply
Hardly a smell to it at all
Does not affect make-up application
Cons None
Bottom line After putting this on my "no" list for my Derm due to the reviews on here, he prescribed it anyway. I'm supposed to be using it all over my face in the morning but have chosen to spot treat with it instead and it's working great! Clindamycin phosphate 1% lotion (but it's a clear liquid with a blotting applicator so not really lotion) in the morning; Sodium Sulfacetamide lotion 10% at night and twice daily Doxycycline 50mg is starting to work on my larger "eruptions" and no new ones. I noticed today they're starting to shrink very quickly. Perhaps due to the spot application (which is basically the entire bottom half of my face) I have not noticed any oily/greasiness.

Pros Moisturized
Cons Plugged up pores
Made healing acne re-inflame
Bottom line I am one of those people who pops their big ugly white heads and this stuff didn't seem to help the acne problem at all. If moisturized nicely but if I had a healing zit it would just re-clog it up. Maybe I was using a little too much, maybe not. Just my 2 cents.

Pros Helped control breakouts
Cons I developed pseudo membraneous colitis
Bottom line I used this product for about a year and ended up with pseudo membraneous colitis, which is a known side effect. In the end, I lost fifteen pounds in a matter of about two month and thought I was dying because I constantly felt ill. I went through a few doctors before the diagnosis was made and it was a generally horrid experience. After I stopped using it, all of the symptoms went away after a short period.

Cons Made skin even more oily
Bottom line I have been using this cream for about 2 months now and i can honestly say it had no effect whatsoever on my acne. I applied it every morning before work and within that time being at work my face would produce even more oil then it already does.

Pros -not expensive
Cons -Made skin peel
-Burned when it was applied
-Made skin break out more
-Made skin more oily
Bottom line I wanted this product to work so bad. I have batteling acne for eight years. I had the liquid that came in a bottle with the applicator soft tip. Unfortunatly, this product made my skin worse than it already was. My skin would peel, which made the product burn my skin more when I put it on. I quit using it after 6 weeks because it was doing more harm than good.

Pros Helped to stop the progression of my acne. It was getting worse and worse until I used this medicine. I am on my 2nd week of using the product and have moderate-severe acne, so it will be a while before I can say how well it has helped me. I am hoping for the best.
Cons Drying- my face feels like sandpaper and moisturizers don't do enough. But I can live with that considering it is fighting my acne.
Bottom line I wanted to let everyone know that this medicine is expensive if A) you don't have insurance and B) you purchase the name brand.

BUY GENERIC!
Don't let a pharmacy tell you that there is no generic for this medicine. That happened to me, and I almost paid $210 for one tube of medicine. Luckily I called my doctor and he told me they certainly make a generic version.

Pros Keeps skin nice and clear
Light weight
Good for sensitive skin
Cons None so far
Bottom line I've been using this for the past 5 months and my skin is really clear. I actually you this in conjuction to Clinique Acne moisturizer. I do use benzoyl peroxide when needed, but I've rarely had to since I started using this. But because my skin gets dry I've been using 100% pertrolleum jelly on my face when in the shower. I lather it on then rinse it off. I only do this once a week and it has helped keep my skin really nice and soft. I hope this does the same for you as it did for me.

Pros Did clear up acne
I loved the chilly feeling when applying it
Cons made skin super oily
lost effectiveness
made skin dry
Bottom line At first I experienced an initial breakout that lasted quite awhile. However my acne did clear up eventually. This product made my skin more oily than it has ever been and will make your face red. I stopped using it a week before my prom because I didn't want to have a red face :( after that I restarted it and it has never worked the same! I regret stopping it however I'm glad I found something else because I don't have to deal with the annoying side effects!

Pros Works...at first.
Cons The Clindamycin pledgets (pads) STINK to the point where I'll actually gag.
Bottom line I used these for a year. They worked, at first, but then my acne came back. In all, they cleared up my face about 50% during the best time of my treatment.

Now, I'm not quite back to square one...but I'm close. I'm giving us because of the horrible smell & the fact that I tend to waste about 20 pledgets because by the time I get to the bottom of the container, they're all dried out.

Also, I've skipped so many random days without using them -- simply from being absent-minded -- and I think I've grown resistant to the antibiotic because of this.

All in all, they're worth a try...but not if you need to pay for than about $15/mo for them. If I could go back in time, I'd ask my doctor for a cream version of the clindamycin instead.
