| Pros: | cures acne...temporarily |
| Cons: | antibiotic resistance |
| Bottom Line: | I used clindamycin (Dalicin?) from fall 2003 till about the summer of 2005. In that period of time, not only did my skin clear up. but I led a whole different lifestyle. However, that all came crashing down that summer when I found out the reality of antiobiotic resistance. I am interested in trying the product again; it's 3 yrs later and I still haven't outgrown my acne, so i want to give it one more shot because this time I am prepared for antibiotic resistance. The only thing is, since my skin's been resistant to it in the past, will it still wrk at the same level as it did before? I'm assuming it will since I havent used the product on my skin in 3 yrs, but lets see. My plan for this time is to use it for a year, (hopefully) get clear and switch to benzamycin, which elso worked for my skin. I'll use that for a couple of months, and then switch back to clindamycin again. |

| Pros: | for the first year or so it is awesome. |
| Cons: | antibiotic resistance |
| Bottom Line: | Okay I suffered acne for over 10 years and this really cleared me up when I really needed it. I was breaking out with numerous whiteheads everyday. But when I used this all my friends said my skin was clear, and it really was it was a great 2 years I had with this but then it started to wear off. Oh yeah I used the CLINDAMYCIN PHOSPHATE SOLUTION |

| Pros: | no side effects, cleared whiteheads, lessened cystic pimples, seems to be helping to balance my skin |
| Cons: | doesn't do much for blackheads |
| Bottom Line: | I've had acne for about nine years, and have tried pretty much every OTC out there, most of them seeming to make things worse. So I broke down and went to my doc. She gave me topical clindamycin (in liquid form) and benzoyl peroxide (which I've used for years, but it's supposed to be more effective along with the clindamycin). I've been using them for about a month, and my skin likes it for now. I normally have very oily skin, and this seems to help with that problem. I still have a few pimples and some black heads on my forehead and nose, but I can't complain too much considering I can leave the house now with just a little concealer instead of caking on makeup. My insurance paid for it, so the price was fantastic (free!) |

| Pros: | gave me control over my skin. prevents major breakouts and pimples as well as treats ones that already exist. |
| Cons: | doesnt do anything for blackheads |
| Bottom Line: | i used to have moderate acne and ever since ive been using clindamycin ( i use clindets) i have mild acne. i used to get big red pimples on my face all the time, id always have atleast two on my face. this stuff worked i would say in 2-3 weeks and has continued to work for the past few years. it controls my skin i would say, now i never have horrible skin, i still get the random pimple but i never get major breakouts anymore. i use it in the morning after i wash my face with a 10% benzoil peroxide wash. I once tried using it in the morning and at night but it really over dried out my typically oily skin. the only problem is it does nothing for my blackheads. Ive started using differin for that and hopefully that will help |

| Pros: | cleared my skin up really nicely, i had whiteheads and blackheads |
| Cons: | for the first little while it dried my skin out a bit but i just picked up a great oil free moisturizer (clinique's dramatically different moisturizer) |
| Bottom Line: | -wash your face no more and no less than 2x a day
-moisturize in the morning and use the gel at night
-dont skip a day of face washing (thats what always gets me!!)
-dont pop your pimples!!! ( i know its hard but they will heal faster if you let them be)
-worth it, worth it, worth it! |

| Pros: | It works. |
| Cons: | I woke up in last 2 days...it's amazing, no red face, less pimples..... |
| Bottom Line: | Clindamycin. It's great. Except my face is becoming a bit dry, but my pimples are going away. I can see changes in my face everyday. |

| Pros: | smooths out skin, shrinks size of pimples and dries them up, the lotion works the best! |
| Cons: | small bottle, runs out quickly, the gel doesn't work as well |
| Bottom Line: | My PCP gave me this when I was a bit younger and I was having mild break outs. He gave me Cleocin T. The first time I got it filled and it was the name brand, the second time it was the generic. Usually, I don't mind generic. But when it comes down to this stuff you NEED the name brand. |

| Pros: | It really doesn't cause too many problems for my skin, and seems to be preventing the few cysts I get before my period. |
| Cons: | I can't tell if this is working or if I'm simply getting better on my own, and my skin has broken out again, it doesn't help noninfected comedones, or oil. My stomach has had problems since I started and I also got a yeast infection. |
| Bottom Line: | If you're going to bother with this acne medicine, you might as well just use 10% benzoyl peroxide or something otc. It isn't worth the prescription bother, and it doesn't really help if you have a lot of whiteheads or blackheads.
Also, the antibiotic can be absorbed into your system and cause systemic problems just like an oral antibiotic, so be careful if your system is sensitive like mine.
Not worth the trouble. No more helpful than over the counter products. |
