I ordered the Clarisonic Mia for myself for my 29th birthday after a friend highly recommended it. Within a week my skin was so smooth! Baby soft! It cleared up the majority of my acne and left my skin glowing. I use it in the morning and at night. As I workout at least an hour, sometimes two, every day, my upper back was also starting to breakout, so I began using it there, too, and my back cleared up within 2 days! Incredible!

Pros

  • Deep clean
  • Glowing Skin
  • Can use it in the shower (waterproof)
  • Magnetic charger
  • Can use on back, too

Cons

  • Charge runs out somewhat quickly
  • Have to change the brush head every few months ($25)
  • May have initial breakouts within first week, but they clear up
  • moderate
  • for a few months
  • $ 109
  • I recommend using this treatment.

Do not use on live acne where bacteria will be spread.

One clearish skin, this brush will change your skin texture and contribute to continually clear skin.

My acne has been severe in various phases of my life and I've used Proactiv for 3 years, Clinique Acne for 1 year and only the Clarisonic will change the appearance of your skin.

My routine is brush in the shower in the AM with a simple acne wash and Clinique Acne moisturizer on spots and simple hand washing at night.

Trust Dan when he says don't agitate live acne. Save this brush for clear skin.

Pros

  • effective, quick results
  • glowy skin, minimizes pore appearance
  • best skin texture
  • sturdy, water proof

Cons

  • default sensitive brush not great
  • not good for live acne
  • charge runs out quickly
  • moderately severe
  • for more than a year
  • $ 220
  • I recommend using this treatment.

I have been using the Clarisonic Brush for over a year now, and cannot say enough good things about it. I was really luck and only rarely had acne as a teen, however after suffering from ovarian cancer and changes in my hormones as i got older my skin freaked out and i was breaking out like crazy, I had deep painful cystic acne and nothing was really helping. I intitally got the clarisonic to help remove dry skin, i never felt like regular exfoliators were enough, but the clarisonic is great at removing dry dead skin and for that reason alone I am greatful. However I also noticed that it great started reducing the severity of my acne and now after about a year of use my skin is almost always completely clear, i may get one or two small bumps a month due to hormones but otherwise my skin is clear to the point that i no longer wear foundation regularly.

I use it with a gentle cleanser like cethaphi or Clinque as well as a BP lotion at night. In the Am i just cleanse with water and apply moisturizer.

I would also like to add that both of my sisters also use the clarisonic after seeing how well it worked for me. They both went through purges that lasted 3-5 weeks stuck with it and are really happy with the results. I would really encourage using a gentle cleanser as all three of us have seen that products for acne make the skin more irritated and dry. And NEVER use it with a scrub the brush alone should be doing the exfoliating, also be sure not to press into the skin let the brush do the work.

Good Luck and dont give up on it.

Pros

  • Deep Cleans Skin
  • Reduces Scarring
  • Reduces Hormonal Acne

Cons

  • Initial Price
  • moderate
  • for more than a year
  • $ 150
  • I recommend using this treatment.

For me, I have the very common oily/combination skin, so my T-zone is extremely oily all of the time and my cheeks are extremely dry. I also have the Clarisonic Mia (yes, there are 2 different types). My face decided to freak out on me after I started using this because it cleans so deeply down into the pores. So I started slapping on loads of moisturizer and it has gotten better. I also only use face wash (with no acne medications in it) and moisturizer, so I no longer put medications on my face just as an experiment. My recommendation to you: if you buy this, ease into using it (duh) and make sure that you follow your routine (whatever it may be) religiously. DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU HAVE SENSITIVE SKIN.

Pros

  • REALLY cleans deep down into pores
  • whatever you put on after using it soaks into your skin a hell of a lot better
  • fun and easy to use
  • can be used with any type of cleanser
  • completely waterproof
  • rechargeable

Cons

  • leaves skin needing A LOT more moisture (for me at least)
  • light
  • for a few months
  • $ 100
  • I recommend using this treatment.

I know that this says that I've only been using the Clarisonic (I have the Mia) for about a week, but I feel like I need to explain what has happened so far just in case you have just purchased and started using one. I have pretty moderate acne, and when I started using this, I noticed that it really does get my skin cleaner than just using facewash. My blackheads that used to literally cover my entire T-zone are virtually non-existent now, and the intense acne scarring that I have has gone down a little. If you are going to use it for getting rid of acne scarring along with whatever other reason, I would recommend using a good cleanser (i.e. Shiseido White Lucent) to use with the Clarisonic to help to get rid of scarring and age spots.

If you have moderate acne like I do, I would definitely recommend using it once a day and then progressively moving towards twice a day (if you need to). Also, don't make the mistake that I did and use it for longer than a minute...that caused me to break out, not horribly, but enough to stress me out.

And because the Clarisonic is technically an exfoliator, USE MOISTURIZER.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this product.

Pros

  • Leaves skin feeling extremely clean
  • Noticeable reduction of blackheads
  • Fun and easy to use
  • Brush heads only have to be swapped out every 3 months
  • Excellent for removing deep acne scarring
  • Makes it easier for skin to absorb moisturizer, makeup, serums, or anything else that you put onto your face

Cons

  • As with most acne products, you have to ease into using it
  • moderate
  • for about a week
  • $ 120
  • I recommend using this treatment.

I like to keep my reviews short and to the point, but I just have so many great things to say about the Clarisonic brush! I'm currently on the acne.org regimen and absolutely love it, but unfortunately benzoyl peroxide leaves my skin dry and flaky, even when I use glycolic acid to exfoliate. I know Dan (acne.org inventor) says manual exfoliating can be irritating, and I do agree; however, it can be effective at taking away all of the flaky skin if done correctly. Everyone's skin is different, so I recommend starting out using this once a day or once every other day for a few weeks and work your way up to twice a day if needed. I use the Mia 2 with the deep pore cleansing brush head twice a day with my acne.org regimen and LOVE the results. Dryness and flakes are GONE! I never experienced an initial breakout. I would suggest using this if you have mild acne. The Clarisonic might be too abrasive for moderate to severe cases of acne.

The Mia models are smaller and more travel friendly, and includes a travel case. I've also owned the Classic Clarisonic handle and it was more bulky than the Mia. But they all work pretty much the same. I prefer and now own the Mia 2. And the brush head can make a huge difference. A lot of people actually prefer the deep pore brush than the sensitive brush. Also, don't use any other new skincare products while first starting to use this so you know exactly what is breaking you out if you experience any reactions. One variable at a time is extremely important.

Good luck and remember to start slowly!

Pros

  • * Cleans and exfoliates the skin
  • * Fun to use
  • * One charge lasts a long time
  • * User and travel friendly (Mia and Mia 2)
  • * Handle can work with any brush head
  • * Skincare products absorb into skin better
  • * Works well with the acne.org regimen if your skin is clear or almost clear
  • * Can buy online or at stores such as Sephora or Nordstrom

Cons

  • * May experience initial breakout purging
  • * Price
  • * Might be too abrasive on sensitive skin
  • * Have to change brush head every 3 to 4 months
  • light
  • for about a year
  • $ 149
  • I recommend using this treatment.

Before you splurge $150 or more on this product first find out how your skin deals with light exfoliation. A simple scrub of caster sugar and water should tell you how. Take a small bowl of sugar into the shower, rub it gently in circles on wet skin and then rinse off. Do it for a few days and if it makes your skin flare up then don't bother this product, it isn't for you.

My skin deals extremely well with a lot of exfoliation, so using this twice a day is fine for me. I've had acne for over ten years now so I had a lot of scaring to fade, the clarisonic is excellent for this. I still get break-outs but they are reduced and they do fade quicker.

This is by no means a cure-all but it does have excellent benefits for people whose skin can take it.

Pros

  • Great for fading Acne Marks
  • Feels great so you will remember to use it
  • Smooths skin
  • In my case severity of outbreaks was reduced

Cons

  • Cost, just get the Mia, the body attachment isn't worth it, you will rarely use it.
  • Your skin has to withstand a lot of exfoliation.
  • Not for delicate or sensitive skin!!
  • light
  • for about a month
  • $ 220
  • I recommend using this treatment.

I've been using the clarisonic for about a year, and for the first few months (1-4) it was working pretty well. It actually cleared up my skin (along with Murad Acne Complex) about an additional 15%.It made my skin smooth, got rid of dead skin, and worked great as a facial scrub. Then for the next 3 to 4 months I didn't see any more improvement. Afterwards (and up til now) my acne has been getting worse and I have horrible black marks (I can't necessarily call them scars because sometimes they heal and go away after a few months). I used to use it twice a day along with Murad and after the worsening acne I brought it down to once per day, and now I don't use it at all. At first once I stopped I was afraid of getting cystic acne (like I have when I tried to stop using in the past), but thankfully I haven't. I've also been using Murad for about 2 years but have seen no significant improvement in the past year. The first year I saw about a 40% improvement (but as the same with the clarisonic) the past year has done nothing for me. Now I'm thinking about starting on Cetaphil, Black soap, or go back to Proactive (which I last used 6 yrs ago).

Long story short, I would use this product MAX once every other day and only as a scrub or for micro-dermabrasion. DO NOT use this everyday. I've actually spoke with an aesthetician, who said it was too abrasive. Many would say that your skin would have to "purge first", but after 4-6 months of "purging" I personally had to say enough. Please do not use this everyday, it will cause too much irritation and for those with oily skin, it will make the oil increase because your skin is trying to make up for it.

Based on past experiences

I only have black and white heads (but in a horrible amount) & some acne marks.

Oily/ Combination skin

Used Clarisonic for 1 year

Summary:

Use it sparingly (no more than once every other day).

Use it as a scrub, but not along with your usual and

Pros

  • cleanses skin
  • leaves skin smooth
  • gets rid of dead skin

Cons

  • can irritate the skin
  • leave the skin raw if used too much
  • can make acne worse
  • moderate
  • for more than a year
  • $ 120
  • I recommend using this treatment.
