Bottom Line:I had a 35% tca peel for my acne scars at a Dermatologist's office a month ago. It looks a ton worse than before. I orginally had the erbium laser (with a little C02)done about 8 months ago. After that my scars ended up only looking about 35% better. Then he recommended this peel on my left cheek. It made my scars look about as bad as they were before the laser surgery. DO NOT USE THE TCA PEEL!! My $4,000 has went down the drain. If he doesn't fix this I will make sure to post his name and city on this site so you know what docter to avoid. If you tried anything that actually works PLEASE let us all know.

Pros:Before they put on the last layer they do some extractions. It is a bit painful, and usually leaves marks but after a couple days it peels right off. Helped with the appearance and little bit of the texture helped as well.
Cons:After you peel your skin tends to be red and your very sensitive to the sun. After the chemical peel you look like you just got beat up cause of the extractions and trauma with the chemicals. I wouldnt recommend it if you have to go to work right awy
Bottom Line:helped me in the beginning but i noticed that the extractions may have caused other breakout to appear. I rec. if you have minimal acne. I also rec if you want to treat some discoloration and skin tone. goodluck

Pros:It can improve the appearance of your skin for a couple of weeks.
Cons:You shouldn't have chemical of microdermabrasion until your skin has very little acne otherwise you are creating new scars by popping the acne you already have on your face. (I learned this the hard way until I finally went to a Dermatologist.)
Bottom Line:Save your money and go to a DERMATOLOGIST. Most spas just want to sell you a package deal that will not improve your skin, only make it worse. I spent $375 for "spa" treatments that did not work. The dermatologist I was so afraid to go to was much cheaper, especially since it was covered by medical insurance. I still had to buy the prescriptions, but I have saved more than I would at the "spa".

Also read the labels of ALL creams that you use on your skin. If it has any OILS (mineral oil, coconut oil, etc) in it at all, don't use it. They will clog up your pores and cause breakouts.

Use only oil-free cleansers and moisturizers, and don't pick at your skin. Hope this helps!

Pros:It brings a bright glow to the face while it burned my face.
Cons:I had a glycolic peel and during the pricedure my skin was stinging and burning, i thought my acne and scars would clear up but they didnt. I have had 3 sittings one month apart. I feel that stickin to the cleansing regimen has been the best option.
Bottom Line:The TCA glycolic peel seems overrated to me. It depends person to person, some peoples skin can tolerate the peel, but people with sensitive skin, which is most of us with acne, i dont reccomend the TCA peel.

Pros:I've had 5 chemical peels of which 4 Obagi Blue Peel, my skin has improved so much, especially my acne ice pick scars, they are so much less noticeable now. Some people even tell me that I have beautiful skin which is so unbelievable 10 years ago.
Cons:The back to normal takes a long time and pigmentation is a problem, luckily Obagi creams help to solve the pigmentation problems.
Bottom Line:I'm 52 years old now and I want to try other methods like the laser resurfacing and hopefully the down time is less. Still, I would recommend chemical peels, especially Obagi Blue Peel.

Pros:Very affordable and cost-effective, clears active acne, reduces the depth and appearance of acne scarring, lightens post-inflammatory redness, gives the skin a healthier "glow" and smoother appearance, results improve after each treatment
Cons:Very irritating if used incorrectly, best results can take multiple sessions depending on the strength of the acid, results are short-lived if not maintained by using milder acids between peels
Bottom Line:This is an excellent option for those seeking smoother, clearer, and healthier skin for a fraction of the cost of laser treatments. Instead of visiting a spa, I performed chemical peels on myself by purchasing medical-strength peels over the internet. When done correctly, the results are equal to the more expensive peels done by aestheticians. I notice great improvement in the depth of my acne scarring, and they continue to get better with each subsequent peel -- some superficial scarring has been removed completely! I no longer experience hormonal breakouts, and my skin has a gorgeous "super-model" glow. The red spots leftover from acne are also getting much lighter, and again, improvements are cumulative with each peel. I do a 40% weekly lactic acid peel with 5% beta hydroxy peel daily. I also use copper peptides post-peel to encourage more rapid healing. I absolutely recommend chemical peels, but again, I stress that you can do this at-home for quite a bargain.

Pros:excellent reslults for acneic, aging and sun damaged clients
Cons:irritation,redness, peeling
Bottom Line:i am an aesthetician in las vegas and i have read some of the comments about peels. the bottom line is .you must maintain proper skincare mantainence at home as well as repeat visits to your skincare specialist.it does not happen over night and you should have a series of treatments not 3-4 months apart. this time span will not give you the result you are seeking. my clients come in for a series of 5 treatments in a row 14-21 days apart then we start customized facials for 3 months (1 a month) then start the series as needed. you are responsible as a client to maintain your proper skincare regimein at home as well, this is how it works hand and hand. most times clients have a false since of what their skin really looks like and the expectation is too high .take a photo at the begining of the treatment then at the end, you will definately see a difference good luck and don't give up. remember its you skin wear it well

I entered an online contest with a laser clinic in my area. They called after awhile to tell me that I had won a prize of $300 off of one of they're packages, so hair removal, peels ect. I had slight acne at the time which they said could be taken care of with the peels and that I would have a new look to my skin. I am only 24 so this was not necessary. They basically just wanted my money. Chemical peels in my opinion are too harsh for young skin or it was for mine anyway. So I had a peel done and of course I broke out severly on my chin. They told me that it would peel alot since it was my first peel and of course I waited and it barely peeled in some places, so it just looked really dry and uneven. Then I noticed that the skin around my lips started to swell and has actually disappeared. I now have huge wrinkle marks around my mouth. I am definitely not happy and have to decide what to do with the money that they will not refund. I wish that I had not had the acne because I could have had a microdermabrasion which produces more immediate results and that probably would have been better for me. They also told me that I had scarring from the peel which did not make me happy either. Would not recomment chemical peels.
