Pros Less cystic acne
Cons Glycolic 70 % left me with scars on my nose and temples that were not there before! This peel was done by a Dermatologist. Do NOT go to a dermatologist to get a strong chemical peel... go to a plastic surgeon!!!!
Bottom line It is not worth it.

Pros Affordable compared to other peels.
Cons This is a harsh peel, and you will not be presentable outside. Skin peeled off in sheets, but after that I looked no better. No one ever knew I had a peel.
Bottom line I don't think I would do this again. My skin didn't look any better after the peel. If you rub your face, your skin will turn red and you will scar. I was very disappointed with the results.

Pros With the first peel .. I noticed a significant difference.
Cons The burning was almost unbearable.
Bottom line I love love love the chemical peels -- the results are so good that you won't mind the burning.

Pros Can't list one pro because nothing good came from this treatment.
Cons Burning sensation was unbearable, couldn't go out in public for 2 weeks, left a deep scar on my jawline that was not there before, looked like a burn victim for weeks and could not cover with makeup, face was red for months after the peel.
Bottom line I got a Jessner peel. DO NOT GET THIS PEEL if your skin is somewhat fair and sensitive. It did not improve my acne nor get rid of scarring. I was only able to get through 4 of the 8 passes that were supposed to be done because of the extreme pain, but I do not think the 4 additional passes would have resulted in anything better/different. My skin was red for months after and makeup could not cover the discoloration.

Pros Worked for persistent PIH from acne scars treated with IPL
Cons Painful. 1-week downtime. Pricey-- although worth it for the results.
Bottom line I have adult-onset cystic acne. I had a pigmented scar treated with IPL-- which made it worse. Literally I walked around always trying to cover up a scar shaped like a dark circle. I had this area treated again with IPL- then with Alexandrite-- needless to say it persisted. Then I tried Obagi Nu-Derm which was really the first thing that really worked for my skin. It made me skin look great and even lightened the scar. However-- it never completely disappeared. So I underwent an Obagi Blue Peel-- and my scar is gone. I also had some boxcar scars which were lightened. I would definitely try Obagi for pigmented scars/PIH. I would start with NuDerm and then follow with the Obagi Peel. I am so happy with the results!! I went to a plastic surgeon to have this done and highly recommend someone who is familiar with the Obagi system and peels.

Pros acne cure, smoother skin, and reduction of pigmentation issues
Cons uncomfortable during the process.. nothing else
Bottom line I have researched and studied..before I ever tried a chemical peel.. and I must say, it is the ONLY thing that worked to get rid of my acne. I have seen a dramatic difference in my skin in the 8+ weeks I have done peels.. and have been so impressed that I have looked into school to become liscensed.

I would only advise that people should indeed look to have this done professionally.. and if they cannot find someone who can offer references.. or explain in detail the process they are going to undergo, to look further. Peels are an easy thing to get wrong.. and also can be a Godsend... if done right :)

Pros -very fast change
Cons -it burns like hell of course
Bottom line I had really bad acne, and a LOT of red spots that had accumulated over the years. I was very fortunate to spend 2 weeks of my summer with my older brother who by coincidence was closely affiliated with a celebrity dermatologist (I will not release her name here), and she helped me tremendously on her own time out of the goodness of her heart at her own summer home where I stayed with her. She just took me into her master bathroom and rubbed a high percent of salicylic acid on my face throughout the day for less than a week. My face peeled something horrible (or GREAT, I should say), and my red marks were completely gone by the time the sheets and flakes of my skin came off.

It looked so bad I never wanted to leave the house, but that was fine for me for a week. I had never been in such a mansion in my life-great experience.

My skin took the treatment well , and I have sensitive skin. It never bled or cracked or anything, and I didn't have ANY acne for about 4 months

Pros Had no pros.
Cons Made my skin worst with horrible break outs
Bottom line I had some acne scars I wanted to get rid off, so I tried the peel. Instead of getting rid of the scars it made me break out severely!! I am now dealing with acne again. I had two TCA peels. The first one I had minor break out. The dermatologist said it was normal and that they would go away. So I did a second one hoping that she was right. After the second one my break outs went out of control. My face is red and full of acne now. I am now having to deal with another dermatologist that is trying to help me clear up. I am desperate to get rid of this acne. I am 26 but look like a teenager going through puberty. I would not recommend this procedure to anyone. It worsen me and has made my life horrible.

Pros I have been getting a series of glycolic peels and I love ,love, love, them!!! I use to break out and had old scarring. this has made my skin clear up and make it velvety smooth. I get compliments on my skin all of the time! I am 30,but people think 22
Cons the only con is coming up with extra money for this luxury and your a little red afterwards.but nothing serious
Bottom line once again I love it! I can really tell a difference in pictures even. my skin looks airbrushed. if you find the right place you shud deffinetly do it.
