Pros softer skin, lighter scars, and finally gaining my confidence back :)
Cons peeled for about a week, and I thought that the procedure hurt.
Bottom line Hello,
I have had acne for about 6 years (I am 21). I have tried everything it feels like but than I got a medium peel done ($50) and I noticed how much softer and clearer my skin is... The nurse did tell me to take my oral medication twice a day like it is recommended and I have'nt broken out really bad. But I have noticed my scars are a little less red and my skin looks more fresh and healthy.(After one peel) I believe that this procedure can help me feel better about myself where I feel like I dont need to put a mask of make-up on everyday. I am actually going for my second peel tomorrow :) I am so excited I cant wait till I see the results after this peel :) after this peel if I have no more active breakouts than I am gonna start microdermabrasions. Good Luck!

Pros Hyperpigmentation, mild to moderate scars, interrupts acne breakout cycle, fine lines and wrinkles diminished. Post-peel kit for after care is given to you to take home!
Cons Can have a tingling sensation at the start of treatment, skin visibly/physically sloughs off.
Bottom line Had the VI Peel performed just before Memorial Day '08, and again 09/15/08. Excellent results, your skin is much brighter and even toned. Women beware: You can't cover up with make-up because of the peeling. After you complete the peeling process, you will not want to wear make-up.

Pros It worked after two treatments and my face cleared up.
Cons Expensive and need it every month. It buns when applied and with the peel I had my face was yellow for a couple of hours (but I knew this so didn't plan on doing anything).
Bottom line My acne could not be controlled by any product from a store/online (Pro-Activ, Acne Free, Clearasil, Daniel Kern, Murad, etc) or from a dermatologist (Differin, cremes, antibiotics, etc). I was very cautious to try this because of the expense and no guarantee, but I went for it and after two treatments I had already seen much improvement. I just had my third treatment a week ago and my face is a lot clearer than it has been since I've had acne.

Pros Face felt clean and tight. No down time, just felt like a mild sunburn. Removed superficial scars and discoloration.
Cons Lasted a month or so. Repeated treatments required.
Bottom line This is the best treatment for skin that has blackheads and whiteheads and if you're a picker. It's at Kelly Day Spa at the Mission Inn Hotel and Resort. They have many treatments and can tell what is best for you. I really like the microdermabrasion with acid peel treatment and do it every month to three months. It is not very expensive and has great results within the first day.

Pros Light chemical peels work great for lighter acne scars, once your acne is under control. Obagi Blue peel works great if you have more layers done.
Cons Make sure you stay out of the sun, but you shouldn't be tanning anyways. :P For the Obagi Blue Peel your face is blue for up to a week and it takes to weeks to completely peel. Don't want to be seen out in public!
Bottom line I am an Esthetician myself. I give my self light chemical peels with resorcinol which help some but I need to constantly be doing them. For the Obagi Blue Peel, I recommend finding someone who will give you anesthesia so they are able to penetrate deeper. There is no way someone can stand the pain with 4 or more layers if you are awake. I had great results except my acne wasn't under control. So now I have to start all over again. If you are not given anesthesia and only get 1-2 layers done don't expect good results. Light chemicals peels cost from $80-300 depending on where you go. For the obagi it was about $900 with anesthesia.

Pros no peeling, quick in procedure
Cons cost, slight sting when applied
Bottom line I'm african american, I went to medical spa and had two chemical peels. along with the peels I used a AHA cleanser, hydroquinone and retin-A prescribed by my doctor. altogether these products worked great in 2months my skin was almost clear. then i stopped using them because of the high price 90 for the peel, 120 for thr retin-A, 50 for the cleanser and 40 for the hydroquinone. i wish i had the money to continue because now my skin is worse then before i started.

Pros this peel is safe for all fitzpatrick skintypes- its also going to lighten acne scars and reduce acne and reduce fine lines and reduce sun damage- its excellent if its done properly and you follow the skin therapists directions- you must not pick .
Cons avoide sun for a few days and ALWAYS wear sunscreen and do not pick your face after the vi peel as it will damage your skin.
Bottom line this is a fantastic peel gives great results and all my clients have been very happy. for more information visit us- [link removed]

Pros None
Cons I had a facial peel prescribed to me by a dermatologist done yesterday morning and suffered severe 2nd degree burns due to it. I am certainly never doing this again if my face ever goes back completely normal.
Bottom line Be warned, dermatologists are not to be always trusted.
