| Pros | I have had absolutely great results with TCA chemical peels. I have had them done at an expert dermatologist's office and had no adverse reactions. Acne scars are have been diminished significantly. |
|---|---|
| Cons | The only con is the redness and peeling that occurs for about 5 days after. |
| Bottom line | I first got a 35% TCA peel, then moved up to 55% and have had great results. Never do them at home! Spend the money for a professional. They work great at removing red marks and fading and smoothing deep acne scars. I haven't had any permanent scarring like the people stating they did them home. TCA peels are a lot safer than phenol peels, and as long as you follow the doctor's orders and don't pick at your skin and stay out of the sun, you should be fine. |

| Pros | None. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Downtime, cost, and break outs. |
| Bottom line | I got a chemical peel done to my face and it burned like hell! Not to mention that I looked like a burned victim for 3 days afterward. After my leather feeling red skin peeled off I was fine for about 2 more days and then BAM, I started to break out and as each day came I got more acne. I was getting 1-2 zits a week at the time before this treatment, now I have 2 cystic knotts under my skin and other small ones. It's been a week and I'm waiting for my skin to clear. Unless you like wasting money and enjoy painful procedures that just make you worse, I wouldn't recommend chemical peel. Oh and look up hyper pigmentation cause that has happened to some people from doing this. |

| Pros | Got rid of a huge ugly pimple within a couple of days! |
|---|---|
| Cons | Peeling, fever blisters |
| Bottom line | This is the second time I've gotten a chemical peel and it wasn't bad at all. My face was red for about 30 minutes after the treatment. I did get a fever blister (which was previously explained to me; if you are prone to getting fever blisters when you have a cold you are likely to get them after this process). The best part about this treatment was that it got rid of this huge pimple on my chin within a couple of days! I loved it. It also made the texture of my skin smoother. |

| Pros | ...Is there such thing with these peels?? |
|---|---|
| Cons | Redness, Acne Scarring, Irritability, Embarrasing Flaking, Itching, etc... |
| Bottom line | Chemical peels suck!! I had the first chemical peel done at a dermatologist just to improve the texture of my skin. I regret doing this because I never suffered from acne until this chemical peel. My skin became red and it started to flake. It was horrible and it was painful. Then, in order to fix the results of the 1st chemical peel, I went to a plastic surgeon. At first, i noticed some improvements. The acne was not as severe, but the scarring got even worse. Now I'm left with ugly brown spots and pigmentation all over my face. I wish I would've learned from my mistake the first time. Please don't do this! |

|---|---|
| Cons | Expensive. Doesn't work, Makes you get more acne than before. Leaves major scars on your face. |
| Bottom line | I had the VI Peel. Doing this peel was the WORSE thing that I ever did to my face. I just wanted my face to be brighter and get ride of a pimple scar that I had on my cheek. I did this peel twice. The first time I finished peeling, I broke out all over my cheeks and my face was an uneven color. It was suggested that I do the peel again, so 2 weeks later, I did it again and the results were 10 times worse than the first time! I got dark marks all around my mouth and my scars got worse. I emailed Dr. K about the results and he said that I should have been given bleaching cream to avoid hyperpigmentation. So I have to purchase bleaching cream on top of the extremely expensive VI Peel? He also blamed it on my saying that this was caused because I didn't use the aftercare products that were given to me. I DID use the products and I think it was just an excuse. I would NOT recommend this peel based on my experience. |

| Pros | NONE |
|---|---|
| Cons | EVERYTHING |
| Bottom line | My skin is horrible. i had a glycolic peel and my face broke out like never before. My cheeks, forehead, and chin now have acne and i have horrible post hyperpigmentation now. The new acne now takes weeks to go away, when it used to only take a couple of days. i just cry and cry now because it was the biggest mistake I made. I had perfect skin last yr and now this year, im just a mess. The peel made it 10x worse. |

| Pros | Removes some light scarring and brown spots |
|---|---|
| Cons | Does nothing for large pores and potential additional scarring from scratching, self-peeling, or excessive burning from the chemicals |
| Bottom line | I just did the Vi Peel and like many people have said, you CAN end up looking pretty ugly. If a zombie can be resurected, that's what I look like for the past 4 days and I finally had to pay my dermatologist a visit. He prescribed 2 oral medications to stop the swelling and itching and a topical cream that softened the peeling as well reduce the redness so the new exposed skin wasn't burning anymore, plus he gave me a shot on the spot. I haven't read a testimonial that said you can look and feel this bad. I can survive with redness and peeling but the big burnt cheeks and everything between it that has now turned into brown scabs aren't worth the teeny results. I would have done 2-3 lighter treatments than one Vi Peel and suffer. |

| Pros | I was going to an estitician (sp?) regularly alternating facials and progressive chemical peels. There was a huge difference in my skin with that regular maintence and more expensive products. |
|---|---|
| Cons | It is embarassing to go out a few days after the peel because that's when you're not supposed to wear makeup. I did break out one time after recieving a peel but once that cleared up my skin was clear for months. |
| Bottom line | I think that if you go to a spa and get progressive peels and facials (if you can afford it!) you will see a difference in your skin. Also if you can afford it I reommend Rhonda Allisona and Eminence brands. That's what I was using before my budget was put on a diet. |
