| Pros: | smoother skin, eliminates very shallow scars |
| Cons: | painful! |
| Bottom Line: | I did the medium peel. My skin is 'sensitive' and so the doctor decided on a 25% TCA peel. I went into the procedure, perhaps foolishly, expecting it to be like a tingling sensation when the TCA is applied. Not so. The acid burns like the dickens, and the treatment is roughly equivalent to getting a second-degree burn on your face. Apparently you can have pain medication to ease the pain during the treatment. This might be a good idea to consider, but my main recommendation from the procedure is this: insist that your doctor give you an anti-swelling medication for post-op. My doc gave me two pills. It might have been helpful to have a few more. Secondly: DON'T RUB YOUR EYES. It's a very uncomfortable sensation to have skin peeling around your eyes. However, you will just cause your eyes to burn if you rub them. Plus, they could get infected. Lastly, play videogames to keep your hands off your face. Don't pick at your skin, unless you like having your face burned off. |

| Pros: | Drastically Improved level of deeper scarring (but doesn't eliminate, i had cystic acne so scarring was not horrible but deeper). Improves texture and feel of your skin. No pain afterwards. |
| Cons: | For stronger peels 3-5 days of avoiding sun, peeling like when you peel from a bad sunburn. Don't pick or itch! works best if you let it fall off on its own. Need to do more than 1 usually + something like a inexpensive laser for evening of tone. |
| Bottom Line: | Talk to your dermotologist and definitly do a few of these if he/she says its safe. It will even your scarring gradually but you'll definitly notice a difference after just your first one. Doesn't even your skin tone but combined with an inexpensive in and out laser (that you'll have to wait a couple months to do and may take a couple lasers to really even) you'll definitly love the results. The cost is very minimal, my doctor gave me a deal and only charged me $100, but they usually cost $150-$300 each time it's done. The Lasers are pretty inexpensive too around the same price so you could get it all done for probably around $1000 maybe $1500 max but that's well below the $5000 these high powered lasers cost. Oh I did the High powered non evasive laser that doesn't burn your skin but goes under it to try and generate collagen and it didn't work at all a waste of $3000. Definitly do this and save money if it's what's right for your skin/scarring. |

| Pros: | After you get through the peeling, smooth skin...reduced oiliness...far less breakouts...in fact, Ive had 1 cystic pimple since I had my first peel (1 month ago)...I just had my 3rd peel yesterday. It also reduces redness from scarring!!! Worth it! |
| Cons: | 1st peel (lactic peel)-minimal peeling, no redness 2nd peel (salicylic acid peel)-VERY Red and serious peeling and crusting--lasted 5 days, couldn't leave the house 3rd peel (Jessner's peel)-Slight redness, some flaking...not as extreme peeling |
| Bottom Line: | I bought a package called "The Clear Concept Acne Treatment." I have the peels in conjunction with a microdermabrasion and a blue/red light after the peel. I also have the aramis laser during these peels. This builds collagen for deep scars. So far, this is working. My skin is far less oily and I have about 80% less breakouts. It is reducing the scarring as well. I am 25 and have had acne all my life, but it just became severe in the last 5 months. Prior to Feb, I would break out occasionally, but then it started to become more frequent and would be cystic in nature, which of course started scarring my face. I have tried topical and oral antibiotics, but nothing seems to work and antibiotics won't do anything for the scarring. So far, these peels are gradually lessening the active acne and reducing the redness in my scarring. I have 3 more peels to go in my package and 4 more laser treatments. I continue to stay realistically optimistic. I would reccommend this treatment. |

| Pros: | Smooths out scars (although they don't completely disappear) and creates a more uniform texture. Strong solutions with less contact time is superior to daily preparations. |
| Cons: | Visits cost a fortune before you see results. Home procedures are risky, especially if you are prone to hyper-pigmentation, keloidal scarring or have herpes. Results are very gradual. Leaving it on too long caused burns. |
| Bottom Line: | I have atrophic scarring light to moderate with an olive complexion. I took a risk and bought 1 oz of 60% solution of AHA at 1.9 PH and have been peeling every 2 weeks. I apply the solution over my entire face and put it on a q-tip and intensify the contact in the scars. I have to say after 8 months I have noticed improvements and I still have some solution left! I have just started alternating with a 65% lactic acid solution and putting the AHA in the scarred areas only. I don't see how a few visits can work when I have seen modest results only after 20+ peels. You can buy online solutions particularly with the company with the initials M.A.C. Their solutions are the real deal. This is for atrophic scarring only and AT YOUR OWN RISK. You should also have your acne under control. Other advice is to not smoke, limit drinking, limit sun exposure, and eat a healthy diet before, during and after the peels. Be patient and good luck! |

| Pros: | within 24 hours, the redness had subsided and my skin was really glowing and fresh. Instand revitalization.
Whole procedure took 10 minutes |
| Cons: | redness, slight burning and tingling, tightness immediately after the procedure |
| Bottom Line: | worth it, but you have to go every couple of weeks. i've only had the lightest peel done, however. |

| Pros: | I come from a ducth family,so i am extremely pale. This means i scar easily, even the smallest pimple sometimes leaves a mark.I had mild fruit acid peels (3)which removed all of my superficial scars.Bonus: My pigmentation also improved dramatically. |
| Cons: | My skin was red andvery tight for about 24 hours.I can also only have peels in winter since the sun in SA and my pale skin is a deadly combo. My skin flaked for about a week(mildly) and I had to wear sunscreen to avoid getting sun damage. |
| Bottom Line: | The maintanence after a peel is a schlep, but the results are worthwile. Be patient, dont pick at the flaking skin (it will scar) and wear sunblock. I am only 22, and believe or not my scarring improved so much I actually got a modelling contract! Affordable and worthwile.. |

| Pros: | The Vitalize Peel can be done in about 30 minutes or fewer. I experienced light, unpainful burning and was able to wash off the solution in six hours. My normal activities were not restricted except for sun exposure. My skin appeared mildly sunburned |
| Cons: | Skin peeling begins on the second day and escalates on day three. Some peeling and flaking continues on day four. Need at least three or more for the best results. |
| Bottom Line: | I am in my early 40s, and after my third Vitalize Peel, my acne breakouts have virtually disappeared and my complexion finally looks fresh. My acne scars (the deep-valley type) on my cheeks are less noticeable. They appear firmer. This peel has also decreased many of the negative effects (brown spots, discoloration) from the sun. I had five of these peels, and now I will get one every six months for maintenance. |

| Pros: | evened out my skin tone temporarily |
| Cons: | caused further scaring from excessive peeling....for pickers the peeling skin is bad news, i constantly wanted to pick |
| Bottom Line: | After I had shed all the skin my face was glowing for about a week, but then it went right back to its old ways with even more scarring from excessive peeling I am going to try again with a lower level peel, change my diet and keep my hands off my face |
