Ok in response to TEE, USA above. Obviously you know absolutly nothing about medical science or the causes of real acne. I have had 2 dermatologists, you know the real professionals, contradict almost everything you say. Overwashing your face multiple times a day actually will make the problem much worse. You kind of have an idea, yes it is related to oil, but oil that is being produced below the surface of your skin not oil coming in from the outside world. Also towels and cloths of anykind actually irritate your skin more which can lead to more breaking out. On the whole I think this website was created for real actual advice and problems solutions. Not for people to produce 1900's urban legends that might help acne.

I have been doing chemical peels for about a year now, monthly and more recently bimonthly. For almost ten years I have battled moderate cystic acne. I could not take acutane and was forced to find other meausres.

I would usually get no more than three very large but scarring blemishes around my period and after about 6 months of chemical peels . My skin is smoother, the red spots and discolorations have gone away and my pores apear smaller, because they are cleaner.

I do this in addition to a regimin of Tazorac, Finnecia and Benzoyl Peroxide (only when my face gets shiny.).

In response to TEE, USA. I dont believe that you have ever been to a dermatologist or have dealt with a serious case of acne yourself. If you had, you would know that many mild to severe cases of acne are the products of genetics and or hormonal imbalances. For such cases, good hygiene is not sufficient to clear the acne. I myself have been dealing with a mild case of acne for over a year and despite consistent washing and moisturizing, my acne persisted. As for diet, most dermatologists have told me that diet has not been scientifically linked to acne and one dermatologist told me to avoid iodine and caffiene witch stimulate the oil producing glands but none of them said to avoid fat or grease. The best acne treatment is to find a doctor who will put you on accutane. (Doctor Lauber in newport beach, CA)
As for chemical peels i recieved a free one on promotion and i did not notice any difference in the appearance of my skin. I had scars and acne at the time and neither improved.

I've used a salon for 3 sessions of Glycolic peel. I had moderate results. Then I bought GA to use at home, in concentrated form. It cost me about £15.00 ($25?). I use it once a week and my skin is much better. The pores are smaller, the red marks are finally fading and I am having less outbreaks. I back this treatment up with GA cream about 3 x a week and BP when needed. I have had no complaints. I am changing to 80% salicylic acid now though as it is meant to be an anti-inflamm. too. Fingers Crossed!!

I am African-American and chemical peels have imporved my skin. My color is more even and the size of my pimples have decreases. A peel costs me about $100 a visit. I go at least once a month. I combine it with Differin.

I've gone from having very active acne to having an occasional break out. My skin tone (the splotchiness) has evened out. I've been using it for a few years now and wouldn't want to be without it. I have someone that gets it for me to use at home, so the price is affordable.

All a person need to do to have clear skin is follow these steps . Wash face every morning and at night 2 time a day . When washing do not scrub or use bath soap, because bath soap is meant for only for the body not the hair or the face. Use facial cream like Noxema with the mosturizer to wash face follow the directions on the bottle.Use a clean cloth to wipe off cream with warm water, remember twice per day . after wash apply a oil free toner or if you want a younger look, use FRIUTION...that product is sold in the womans section Cosmo desk apply to clean face. If you have long hair....do not sleep on a pillow because pillows hold oil and cause pimples if you have long hair. For your hair....use shampoo products that do not have ammonium chemicals in the ingrediences because it will dry your hair out and break off the hair ect. I stick with baby shampoo because it does not have ammonium and they are more careful with the ingrediences with baby products. I would add 1 egg to the baby shampoo because the raw egg just turns the soap into a combo. soap and natural mosturizer in one.So clear skin is cleaning habits....and also the diet -stay away from fried foods and high fat beacause the body has to get rid of the excess oils....... some kind of way!
