| Pros | - extra gentle - lasts forever (1L bottle can easily last upwards of 3 months) - unscented (for sensitive, easily irritated skin) - removes most make up effectively (except for long-wear foundation and waterproof mascara) |
|---|---|
| Cons | - does not clear acne on it's own - must use an exfoliant and acne treatment in addition to it - wish it would remove all make up completely, but this is what eye make up removers are for |
| Bottom line | Many people complain that this cleanser does not clear up acne on it's own. Since Cetaphil doesn't contain any acne fighting ingredients, this can only be expected. What Cetaphil does contain however is gentle, soothing ingredients which won't further irritate sensitive, acne prone skin. During the summer months, I can use whatever cleanser I want and I don't need to worry about dryness. However, in the winter my skin becomes incredibly dry and flaky. Cetaphil is the perfect answer to dry/sensitive winter skin issues. While it won't clear skin on its own, Cetaphil is a great cleanser for your entire acne fighting regime. I use this cleanser, salicylic acid cleansing pads (Such as Oxy or Clearasil, which are better than cleansers with salicylic acid, since they leave the acne fighting medicine on the skin, giving it a chance to work), followed by Cetaphil's rich moisturising cream at night, and Neutrogenia Oil-Free Moisturizer with SPF in the morning. If I have larger pimples, I use a BP spot treatment. This combo is great, and keeps my skin perfectly balanced and healthy (not red and irritated)! |

| Pros | Keeps face from becoming oily and greasy Prevents acne for people who have moderate / light acne or even used to have severe acne Can get large containers of it so it lasts a long time |
|---|---|
| Cons | Expensive |
| Bottom line | I used to have extremely severe acne due to incontrollable amounts of grease and oil that would layer on my face no matter what product I used. After going on dozens of prescriptions, I eventually went on Accutane which cleared up all my acne after about a year and a half. BUT, even though most of my acne stopped, the grease and oil was still heavy. Cetaphil cleared this up perfectly. After almost a decade of having a greasy face, I now live with clear, SHINE-FREE skin! I can prove it was Cetaphil because I went back to college for a new semester and forgot to take my bottle with me and my face was so greasy and oily and I started getting mild acne again, along with an 100% shiny face 24/7. I immediately retrieved my Cetaphil and my face cleared up again after two days. I love my cetaphil and will never live without it again! I do not know how this product works for people with dry skin. But for people who get greasy, oily skin, this product is for you. |

| Pros | mosturizes & light |
|---|---|
| Cons | didn't help my acne |
| Bottom line | I've always heard how great this product is. My best friend uses it and loves it so I thought I would give it a try and try something different. I've been using it for the past few weeks and its this is the worst my skin has ever been. This product isn't for everyone. |

| Pros | Great as a morning Cleanser (use on clean skin) No smell, feels nice on skin afterwards Perfect for normal or combination skin |
|---|---|
| Cons | Does not remove any make-up Might be too drying for dry skin sometimes Does not remove oil, creams, etc. Expensive |
| Bottom line | I use it only in the morning when my skin has natural oil and I want to refreshen it. It is easy to use it and skin feels nice afterwards. However, it does not remove foundation, creams etc. I tried many times but does not work.. I gave up to use it as a make up remover and use only as a cleanser. |

| Pros | Doesnt dry out skin No 'tight' feeling after cleansing |
|---|---|
| Cons | does not get rid of all the oil in the face for oily skin though, but its still good |
| Bottom line | I'm not sure whether this cleanser has help in reducing acne, but bottom line is that i feel comfortable using this cleanser, and my redness is gone probably due to a new regiment im using now. I had a sensitive and combination skin. Used to wash my face with sebamed, however, i still finds it too harsh on my skin. Eventually i switch to cetaphil, which was satisfying. My skin does not feel tight and dry anymore. And now my skin is less oily, probably like what most people is that, harsh cleanser will eventually make your skin produces more oil to compensate the moisture you lost. My regiment: Morning Cetaphil Cleanser Hazeline Lightening cream (include sunscreen & not oily as usual moisturizer) Evening: DHL Cleansing Oil (with make-up) Cetaphil cleanser Hazeline Moisturizing cream (not oily too =)) Once a week i will use acne medicine all over my face as a leave on mask to reduce pimples, i cant used it everyday cause my skin is very sensitive. Hazeline snow cream is a more traditional acne medicine that has been passed down from generations in asia, my grandmother always buy this for us whenever we have acne outbreak. I am also taking omega 3 supplement once a day. Hopes this is helpful. I know it sucks to have pimples. |

| Pros | Smooths Skin Amazingly! Helps With Redness. Doesn't Dry Out Skin. Very Inexpensive For The Amount That You Get. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Doesn't Remove Makeup Very Well. |
| Bottom line | I had read a lot of reviews on this cleanser, but had never actually gotten round to buying it, as I figured it would do the same as every other cleanser. I had been using Nutrogena Acne Stress Control, for about 6 months, and had no problem with it, except that it made my skin quite red. Anyway I ran out of that a few weeks ago, and saw Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser at the supermarket, so I figured I'd give it a go. My acne is moderate, I get breakouts on my chin, and a few on my cheeks, and a lot of redness on my forehead. After just a few days of using this, I noticed a huge improvement in my skin, not so much with the acne, but with the redness! I thought my acne was quite bad, until I saw my face without redness and realised it wasn't as bad as I thought. My skin feels so much smoother, and 90% of the redness has completely gone! The first couple of days, I did notice it was giving me a few more pimples on my chin, but I have heard from a lot of people that it will get worse before it gets better, as it pulls up all the bacteria out of your skin. I stopped using it for a few days, and tried a Nivea Cleanser, as I was worried about those new pimples, but then my skin just got red and irritated, so I went back to the Cetaphil and I love it! My acne is slowly clearing up, and it is amazing how smooth my skin feels! Bottom line is, I love this cleanser. I will update again after I have been using it for a month or two, but so far I really like it. I do recommend! |

| Pros | VERY gentle Clears acne like NOTHING else! :3 Leaves skin moisturized, even in dry weather Makes my skin feel natural and clean |
|---|---|
| Cons | Absolutely nothing |
| Bottom line | I've been using Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser ( Oily Skin Facial Cleanser as it's called in Canada ) with my Clarisonic Brush for YEARS. It is the only thing I'll ever use. People complain that it doesn't lather? When I put a pump onto my Clarisonic, I'll put a bit of water on it and rub my finger over the brush in a circle until I get a bit of a lather, just enough to spread it around. That's all you need people. Personally I don't like feeling like I'm washing my face with shampoo >.> Anyway. This product, along with my ACV toner and Aloe Vera moisturizer, has kept my face clean, crystal clear and soft C: It's just so gentle and leaves your face feeling COMFORTABLE ( Not tight or "squeaky clean" ) and moisturized ( doesn't even dry my face out in this Oklahoma weather ). I've used dozens of other cleansers, from Neutrogena Naturals to all of St. Ives cleansers, and nothing can beat Cetaphil for price and effectiveness. It may seem like it costs alot for a Cleanser, but you have to realize you're paying 16 or so dollars for a huge pump bottle that lasts well over 6 months. I can't recommend this product enough! |

| Pros | -does not strip your skin -it's gentle -$2 off cetaphil coupon on website (if you consider it a pro) -good for dry to normal skin |
|---|---|
| Cons | -does not remove sunscreen (or makeup) -may not cleanse thoroughly enough -not strong enough for oily skin |
| Bottom line | My derm recommended this a while back. I was using topicals (duac and differin) and I found that this cleanser did not irritate my skin. I have used this on and off through the years and it seems that I always have more acne when I am using this cleanser. It seems like my skin is always left oily after I wash with it. Instead of consulting the message board like most people do, I asked my dermatologist. I told him about the oil residue that was left after I cleansed. He told me: "It is a common belief that using harsher cleansers actually results in an increase in oil production. This is true. However, it is important that individuals with oily or acne-prone skin use a tougher cleanser to remove oil and restore balance to the skin." There. Straight from the horses mouth. I always find that when I switch to the foaming cleansers that Dan recommends that my oily skin is better managed. If you have dry skin though I would go for it. Just my opinion. Also, I had to stop using this because it started to sting my face when I was on accutane??? |

| Pros | good for sensitive and rosacea moist for skin |
|---|---|
| Cons | cant remove makeup well |
| Bottom line | i had used my doctor cleanser but it made my skin even redder. So i decided to give cetaphil a try, a few pimples pop out in the first few days but after using it for a period, my skin are not so red anymore and my face are more smooth and clear, this is the best cleanser i ever used. |
