| Pros | -Perfect for my dry, sensitive skin -Great, thorough cleanser -Moisturizing -Non-irritating -Keeps my skin clear and clean and happy |
|---|---|
| Cons | -Unusual texture -No lather -No wonderful scent -No tingly, clean feeling -Boring! |
| Bottom line | Three of the things I cherish in a great facial cleanser are: awesome scent, creamy consistency, and wonderful tingly sensation upon washing. Cetaphil's Gentle Skin Cleanser meets none of these criteria. So... why is it my favorite cleanser? Because it works! Face washes like Neutrogena Deep Clean Cream Cleanser and the Clean & Clear equivalent smelled great, created a luxuriously creamy lather, and made my skin tingle... but they made my dry skin drier, my sensitive skin irritated and more sensitive, and they created acne on my relatively acne-free face! Honestly, I was sad and disappointed when I tried Cetaphil. It comes in a boring bottle and the product seems so plain and boring. The texture isn't great, it produces no lather, and it has no pleasing scent. It's just... there. And so I cleansed my face with it. And, my face didn't feel squeaky clean. It felt... plain. Just like Cetaphil. But... days and weeks later, my skin is awesome - much improved! I have no acne (is it odd that acne products give me acne, while a plain cleanser with no acne medication keeps my skin clear?), my dry and sensitive and irritated skin is lusciously moisturized and super calm. Honestly, I wish I could use the fancy looking, fancy smelling, fancy feeling cleansers. But it seems that I'm doomed to the boring - but if my skin keeps looking so great, I don't mind! I had only considered using their cleansers and moisturizers on my face, but after reading more about it, I'm considering using this as a cleanser for my whole body. If you have no acne, or light acne, you should definitely try this product. And if you have moderate or severe acne, this still might be a great cleanser if you use some type of acne medication with it. The Cetaphil will definitely help keep your skin balanced and calm, prepped for whatever else you need to do in your regimen. Trust me - try Cetaphil (and give it a fair shot, because it doesn't seem like it'd work at first) a |

| Pros | So gentle and leaves my skin feeling soft. |
|---|---|
| Cons | None |
| Bottom line | I have been using this cleanser and the mosturizer for bout 2wks and so far I love it. The mosturizer looks like its greasy but its not and it really has helped with my super dry skin that was flaking. I love how gentle it is and thats the very reason I bought it. I used proactive for only 2 days and I suffered. It burned my skin where it would hurt to touch it and made my acne worse. My skin was so sensitive to the touch but cetaphill didn't hurt it and helped it feel better after 2days. |

| Pros | Gentle, no noticeable scent, leaves skin feeling smooth and clean, inexpensive. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Doesn't lather- some people prefer this, although it doesn't bother me. |
| Bottom line | A few months ago I decided to give this product a try after seeing so many positive reviews. My skin is sensitive, and usually pretty dry in most places, but also very prone to break outs. This cleanser leaves my face feeling moisturized, and has helped keep breakouts to a minimum. Everyone's skin is different, so what works for me may not work for you- but I would definitely recommend anyone to give this a try! |

| Pros | - gentle - balancing - cleanses decently (better than most "gentle" cleansers, on par with a regular cleanser) |
|---|---|
| Cons | - runny liquid - doesn't seem to be very good at removing oil, those who have oil issues should probably follow up with astringent and moisturizer - contains quite a few preservatives |
| Bottom line | I use this cleanser to remove my makeup prior to using the AcneFree system. I like how it does a decent job at removing my makeup without stripping it of any moisture; leaving it at a nice clean and balanced state for the harsher BP-containing AcneFree cleanser to do its work. I'm considering using this as my only cleanser - I think I will be ok as long as I continue to use some BP treatment afterwards like the AcneFree BP medicated repair lotion. |

| Pros | Best cleanser ever. |
|---|---|
| Bottom line | I started using this cleanser at 15. I've now used it for almost 15 years. I've tried other cleansers periodically, but nothing has ever been better than Cetaphil. Make sure to buy the gentle formula. Doesn't dry out my skin. No irritation. |

| Pros | Easily available in the US |
|---|---|
| Cons | Irritating |
| Bottom line | I have used this for about three months and every time I used it, my skin would become so irritated. It was gradual until I couldn't take it anymore. Ironically, this stuff made my skin drier and mind you I have oily skin. I have tried the oily version and it is no better. I would recommend this if you have more resistant skin and using a topical medication to prevent irritation. Mind you I was using this and a BP with a percentage at 2.5%, so I have sensitive skin. |

| Pros | - Cleanses well - Fragrance free - Non-irritating - Cheap and easy to find, can buy in larger quantities - Leaves skin feeling smooth |
|---|---|
| Cons | - Kind of unsettling consistency |
| Bottom line | This is my favorite cleanser EVER. I have been using it for several years now, and every time I try some new product, I always come back to Cetaphil. Why spend more when you don't have to? This is not a medicated cleanser, so no, it will not clear your skin on it's own. But as a cleanser to use before medication, such as BP, this is great. No, it doesn't foam. That means it is soap free. Cleansers don't need to foam to work. People tend to associate skin that's totally stripped of all oil with "clean". This leaves what is supposed to be left on your face, while getting rid of the stuff that isn't. |
