Thanks for voting everybody. We will go ahead and move forward with a larger 16oz. AHA+. We’re also looking into whether we can make a 3.4oz. one as well, but this may take a bit longer. I can’t quote any exact launch dates at this point, but we are ordering the necessary raw materials and we will get the new size(s) of AHA+ up on the site soon. Thanks for your input on this.

We recently found a bunch of empty labelled 8oz. benzoyl peroxide bottles at one of our manufacturers. It was one of those moments where you have to think about what to do–should we practice what we preach regarding environmental stewardship and use them, even though most people, myself included, prefer the tube for the 8oz. BP? In the end, we decided to go ahead and use them.

We did something similar last year when we came across some extra blue bottles from when the products used to be blue. You guys seemed to agree that it was fine to use those blue bottles, even though it meant your products might not all match for a while.

_____

A quick rundown of our thinking:

Throwing the bottles away:
Benefits:  Continuity of packaging. Less customer service issues.
Drawbacks:  Costs money to haul them away and dispose of them. Guilt; it feels wrong not to use what we have.

Reusing the bottles:
Benefits
:  Possibly save a bit of money by using everything we have. Less guilt.
Drawbacks:  Lots of people prefer the tube for the 8oz. size.

To me, the decision isn’t very hard. It feels best to use what we’ve got, and it may save us a bit of money (we hope to at least break even once you account for extra customer service and other expenses involved in using the bottles). Thanks for supporting us with stuff like this when it happens. If you absolutely can’t stand the 8oz. BP bottles, let me know, but if you can stomach them for a little while, I think we can all feel pretty good about it.

Hey you guys. For years people have asked for me to make products in travel size, and also in larger sizes. I always think anything is possible, so I decided to make this happen. We just went live with the new product sizes yesterday. The cleanser and benzoyl peroxide are both available now in small, medium, and large sizes. The moisturizer is in production and the small and large size will be out in early to mid February.

We also completely redesigned the bottles (big surprise, lol, this is the fifth time I think we’ve redone them), and we’re sprucing up DanielKern.com where they’re sold. I’d love to hear what you guys think of the new bottles and new web site.

I had a total brainstorm moment at the gym today with a friend. I’ve been redesigning the products and they are a little blah–see the attached pic for a rough mock-up of how they’ll look. I like them because it’s handwritten now, but it is bordering on generic. So I was thinking, “how can we get people involved and how can we incorporate a little color?”

And then it came to me. What if I asked you guys to submit “what do Acne.org products mean to you?” artwork. I want to leave the parameters pretty wide. It’s not so much, “make an icon for a cleanser” or “make an icon for a moisturizer”, but rather, “what do the regimen and acne.org products mean to you?” Any kind of artwork is welcomed, but here is what we need so we can print it:

max size: 1.5″ X 1.5″
300dpi or greater
any amount of color is fine
hand drawn/painted and scanned is absolutely acceptable

I’ll be choosing 3 designs for now. One for each product. I can offer the makers of the winning designs a year of free product (12 cleansers, 12 BPs, and 12 moisturizers, and a body buddy if you want one). Sound fair? If you’d like to submit artwork, I need it fast–like in the next two days would be preferable because these are going to print soon. You can email them to dan@acne.org. Looking forward to it!
