Benzoyl peroxide is a free-radical generating compound widely used in the polymer industry and also in pharmaceuticals as antimicrobial agent to treat acnea. Is that true DAN? Is it also true that it promotes Tumors? or am I just freaking out?
So what about the latest sunscreen formulations, with those active ingredients like avobenzone, homosalate, octisalate, octotrylene, and oxybenzone? Those provide much more comprehensive protection against the sun than other active ingredients…
Biore Dual Fusion moisturizer is fantastic. It doesn’t make me breakout, doesn’t make my skin greasier, works well under make up (I’m a L’Oreal Bare Naturale mineral makeup fan) AND has an spf of 30.
If only the pump wasn’t unreliable (You have to BEAT- none of the “tapping” they recommend- against a hard surface to get both sides to come out) I would give it a bajillion stars. That said, it’s still the best daily spf I’ve ever used.
If you’re struggling with flakiness, I’d suggest adding some jojoba oil to it.
The Olay sunscreen for sensitive skin mentioned in this video is amazing, I had no idea my skin would work soooo well with zinc oxide. I have tried using neutrogena, aveeno and eucerine and broke out with all of them, and thought that the regimen was just not working for me. But I realized after watching this video that all these sunscreen I was using had avobenzone instead of zinc oxide. Now, along with Dan’s regimen my skin have been completely clear with Olay’s sunscreen, zinc oxide was the missing piece of my perfect regimen puzzle. Thanks Dan!
I live down in TEXAS where we have a ton of Heat and Sunshine. I’ve used a ton of different sunscreens over the years and I’ve found a really good one.
Murad Oil-Control Mattifier SPF 15
This stuff has 3% Zinc Oxide in it. I have very oily skin and this takes very good care of that issue for the whole day. It comes as a cream, but I’ve found that if I rub it in my fingers and then dot it on. Then instead of gliding or rubbing I just do extremely light pats, the product soaks in and leaves no irritation and I’m very mat, yet it doesn’t dry me out. Might not work for everyone, but I’ve found it to be good for me.
Also, a lot of people think that 15 is a little low, but if you do a little research you’ll find that applying sunscreen is not a one time thing. 30 minutes before you are exposed and then every hour after that when exposed. For the most part, you should stay out of the sun from 10am-3pm just because that is peak times. Plus, you should limit your sun exposure when on the regimen. Hope this helps my Oily brothers and sisters. P.S…it works great as a primer for make-up, that comes from my gf.

I hear that the cap for sunscreen labeling is now going to be SPF 50+ rather than SPF 30+.
