Jojoba oil is definitely a must for those suffering from dry skin. When I started the regimen, my skin was very dry and flaky, but the jojoba oil solved that once I opted to buy some. Over time, you’ll find that you’ll need to use less and less oil. I started using six drops, and over a couple of months, I’ve worked my way down to two.
Here’s a question for you, Dan: I’ve read that jojoba oil can trick your skin into thinking that it’s already producing sebum. Is it possible that, over long term use, your skin will eventually stop producing sebum, even after I stop using the oil? Jojoba oil is great, but I’d hate to become dependent on it.

Hey Dan,
No matter how what moisturizer I use, even if I add jojoba oil to it, whenever I use the BP lotion my face turns bright pink/red. It’s not an allergic reaction (I even asked my dermatologist to make sure), it’s just very pink/red and irritated looking. It lasts all day and night, and it does not dissipate at all. This doesn’t happen to me with any other face lotion, be it moisturizer alone, AHA+ alone, etc. Any idea why this might be happening?
I’ve been on the regimen for a couple of months now.

^ I know what you mean, before I could use BP and I used ALOT and got kinda clear, but I took Accutane to clear my backacne and nowadays, I can’t even apply a bit of BP or my face would turn red. I’ve had to take other means to control acne. For me is just having a good diet, and maybe anti inflamatory antibiotics for spot treament you should talk to your dermatologist another way to combat acne if bp turns you red because theres no point if it helps if it turns so red cause that will irritate your face more and overall look worst. Maybe oral antibiotics, cream antibiotics, good diet, etc. There are many ways to clear acne. I will agree with Dan that BP is the best topical out there, but if you can’t use it you just can’t use it.

As I know, hyaluronic acid and the alga polysaccharides are very good moisturizers. They are natural products and can fix skin water more efficiently than most of present chemical products. Chlorella Nourishment, made of edibale algae and hyaluronic acid, works very well especially for old people. It invented by Lijun Plant Resource Institue. You cna try it.

In regards to what Bryan said, I also used to be able to use BP sparingly before I went through my Accutane course. Now my skin is simply too sensitive to use BP everyday (I turn very red), so I’m limited to using it every other day. Despite the irritation I receive from BP, I think it’s the best topical acne medication available.

I didn’t realise how industrialised the desert was (just listen to that background noise!);; the more you know!

PokerFace, yes I dunno why, maybge Accutane just makes our skin layers thinner or something. For us we can’t do the Regimen, thankfully, accutane helped us a good deal and atleast in my case I can keep my acne in check most of the time with just Cetaphil cleanser etc, but for other people who get red with BP you might try Jojoba oil, if that doesn’t work then you’ll just have to find another regimen that doesn’t include BP. Thing is atleast for me even AHA and Salycid acid are also harsh on my skin so I can barely apply any topicals on my skin. Apparently more and more people are experimenting this redness. It’s amazing Dan, after accutane, and the raw amounts of Bp he applies he doesn’t get em, yes he moistures good, but I did as him and mosturing really didn’t help get rid of the red.

So what are other options if Jojoba and AHA do not work to control dryness and flakes??? Jojoba made me look super greasy and only kept the flakes away for a couple hours, AHA causes me burning and itching and causes more blemishes… I have been on the regimen for 3 months.

Yeah, the comment made at 7:41 a.m. obviously isn’t me again. lol
This is one of most creative videos you have put out Dan. You really should use the green screen more often.
Great job!

i have a blog that gives some helpful remedies for dry flaky skin on the regimen!
July 31st, 2009 at 6:48 am
I’ve only been using the products for a week or so, and my face kept getting drier and scaley, despite using a moisturizer. Now I have very dry skin which has started to flake in some places.
There are a lot of posts abouthow to exfoliate away the flakes, but how do I get rid of this dryness so that I can get back to the regimen?

Bob, the same thing happened to me. I thought it was an allergic reaction, my skin became rashy, like little red bumps all over the place it wasn’t fun
It burned, was itchy. Try just doing the regimen once a night, or maybe once every other night at first and it should go away. I wanted to quit because of it, I was like “I’m done”.. but I know you have to just push through like Dan says. Quitting is a big mistake. I’m glad I didn’t!!!
