  1. Please just sell it as soon as possible! I live in Tucson and am very pale, so I’ve been waiting anxiously for a nice sunblock.

Could you sell it without the jojoba as well, for those of us who already have jojoba?

Thanks, Dan, for everything you do!

  2. Yes, many of us already bought Jojoba Oil, specially the one from Acne.org, which works really well! So it would be nice to have the choice buy the product alone but also to buy it with Jojoba for those who don’t have it yet.

  3. I think you should not sell it with the jojoba oil. Many people do not need flakiness control and this jojoba along side will just add to the cost.

I am also wondering if this sunscreen is a chemical one or a physical one, and what are the active SS ingredients?

    Thanks!

  4. Love your site, I have used other products for the regimen and I am just ecstatic with the results. However, the idea of a sun block is great; it is what is needed for us with this regimen. Good news for us all, especially if you are making it a slim and affordable package. I also found that gently “very gently” passing a cotton ball after the wash helps with the flakiness.

Ok no more blogging for me got to study 3 classes left! Keep up the great support for us all!

Oh, and thanks for helping me and many of us with this life long dilemma.

  5. would the addition of the jojoba oil throw off the advertised SPF? in other words, don’t we risk diluting the sun screen if jojoba oil is added after the fact?

  6. I would vote AGAINST selling it w/jojoba oil.

    1) I already have some jojoba here.
    2) My problem w/all moisturizers containing SPF so far, is that they just cause my face to look oilier than usual after a couple of hours. So I end up not using SPF moisturizer. If yours doesn’t add oiliness (& I’m guessing not, if you’re recommending jojoba) then I’d likely use it as is, without jojoba anyway.

I use a lighter moisturizer in the morning, and tend to any flakiness with my evening application, so I personally would not be likely to be adding jojoba in the AM.

  7. I would definitely buy it with the jojoba oil… but if you offered it without then I would just buy the oil separately. Maybe you could offer both? Whatever is more economical.

  8. I personally already have your jojoba oil so I would not need it myself.

I’m concerned about the plans for SPF 30. Usually I like to have a SPF 15 unless I’m going to spend a LOT of time in the sun. In my experience, my face gets very white with a SPF 30 or greater. I was hoping for something that could protect my face from the sun, while still looking normal and even being able to get a slight tan. Maybe you could offer two different versions? 15 and 30. Is this a possibility? In any case, I’m very excited about this product as well as your spot treatment.

  9. Yeah, a SPF 30 with a little jojoba oil sounds like a wonderful idea, Dan! I definitely think you should sell it as soon as possible!!!

  10. Hey Dan, please sell this SPF. I will happily buy it, along with tons of other people. I really need a sunscreen, and this is it. However, please also sell it with the jojoba oil, because I already have a ton of yours. Please also use a lower SPF (15) so I can get tan also. Thanks!

  11. Hmmm. That is an elegant solution, but I don’t think it’s quite necessary. And, in theory, it seems like it would be more expensive…why not just tell customers that if they use it, they might want to buy jojoba oil too? To be honest, I don’t get rid of flakiness with ANYTHING without using jojoba oil – even your moisturizer. I have to use extra jojoba oil or I WILL be flaky. And, though most people may not be in the exact same boat as me, a lot of people already have the jojoba oil. I think you’re better off selling it without – that way the people who need it can still get it (separately, just as anyone who needed extra flakiness control would now) and those who don’t need it don’t have to get it.

  12. Yes send that SPF 15 asap hah, and I think you should sell with and without because like its been posted not everyone needs jojoba oil. Maybe sell a mini one for those who do need it with it. Thanks again Dan!

  13. I’ve been buying your products regularly since 2004 (currently using the full regimen plus AHA and Jojobo) and I vote for an SPF 15 option w/ no Jojobo included, as I think that would just add to the cost, and almost everyone buying stuff from here past the basic regimen stuff, is already going to have a bottle of your Jojobo oil, which is huge and not expensive and lasts forever.

  14. I think the SPF is a great idea, but it’s not necessary to sell it with the jojoba oil. Maybe you could sell a trial size jojoba separately for those who want to try it before buying the large one, but most of use seem to have the jojoba oil already, and if we don’t, it’s because we don’t need it.

  15. I totally agree with everyone here. Maybe you could sell a trial size jojoba oil separately. I already have jojoba oil and I wouldn’t want more when I order the sunscreen.

  16. Yes! SPF! I am new to the regimen…just got it in the mail yesterday! And to be honest, I waited THIS long because I was hoping for the SPF lotion to be out so I could just buy that instead of the regular moisturizer, but I said “screw it, I’m buying this stuff now”. haha

Here is my question. I remember watching the video where you use Oil of Olay SPF lotion, and you say what you don’t like about it is it’s lack of flake control, so you just add some jojoba oil. So how is this new lotion that you really like different from the Olay?

I am a big advocate for SPF…I think it’s VERY important to wear it, especially on the face because it’s such a sensitive area, and we just leave it exposed every day. I would more than likely buy the SPF 30, but (if you can swing it), I think it would be nice for people to have the option of strength to buy, be it SPF 30 or 15.

And selling it w/ a side of jojoba oil….a lot of people are saying they already have that big ole 8 oz bottle of goodness. Maybe this would be a good time to make a travel size bottle of jojoba oil! That way if people just want a small amount just to see if they like it, or for when they are traveling they can safely carry it on a plane, etc.

I am really excited about this lotion! I hope all of this gets worked out and we can buy it soon :) Best of luck, Dan! Thanks so much for your dedication.

  17. I would sell it with the Jojoba oil. It would introduce jojoba oil to a world of people, people that might give up on clearing their acne if it were not for the flakiness reduction that the oil brought.

It would also mean you are shipping a complete product, that accomplishes everything it should accomplish, it just isn’t in 1 bottle.

What will make that moisturizer complete and effective will be the Jojoba oil, so it would be nonsense to ship it without it.

I already have a full bottle of jojoba oil, but would still welcome the small bottle.

  18. I agree with Steve — sell it with jojoba so you are really selling the complete product, even though I already have your jojoba oil. I’d just make it a sample size bottle though, so people will go through it at about the same rate as the SPF it accompanies. Plus, a sample size bottle would be useful PROVIDED the cap is completely leak proof. (Something like the cap on saline eyedrops would be good.) I’d love to be able to stick a little bottle in my purse so I could use it throughout the day as a lip moisturizer.

  19. Love that idea of a sample/travel size of jojoba even though we always have your 8oz size on hand. Yes! on offering the 15 and 30 spf if you can. We’re not on the site all the time; but when we are, we love a large dose of those daily video blogs. Thanks.

  20. I also think selling with and without the jajoba oil would be a good idea. I persoanlly would prefer the 30 SPF version (I have very pale skin). Also, does it protect against both UVA and UVB rays? I know some lotions only protect against one and I prefer to use versions that protect against both. Thanks!

  21. I’ve used a few bottles of your bp, and just ordered some jojoba oil and AHA. In one way I don’t like the idea of having the oil come attached, because if you don’t use it all, and you buy multiple bottles of moisturizer, you’ll be left with all these little bottles you’d feel bad for having paid for. For people who do like the oil, though, it’d be convenient to have a smaller sized bottle. Either way II think having a travel-sized jojoba oil is a great idea, especially if it has a good cap so it’s easy to dispense, and doesn’t leak.

I’m assuming your sunscreen doesn’t protect against UVBs? I know it’d be hard to get a non-shiny broad-spectrum, but I’m a girl and am worried about getting all wrinkly when I’m older so I’d only ever buy broad-spectrum sunblocks. :0

  22. While at a Body Shop, I had asked about SPF- the clerk suggested I get the Shea Body Butter- b/c it naturally had SPF of 15- I think it was specifically about the Shea butter in it, as she said that was the only body butter with that benefit. A chemist I know for a well known skin/cosmetics company had said that while SPF is important, the ingredients used for it often cause breakouts & clogging. It’s a tricky thing to consider, as the protection is important, but this site is dedicated to those of us w/breakout problems.

  23. I live in Hawaii and use sunscreen daily, as should anyone who does want wrinkles but, its always sunny, so I use a high spf. I think a minimum spf of 30 is really needed for the face, as is something that is oil-free(even a beneficial oil really isnt welcome when most sunscreen user who buy sunscreen specifically for the face are women and women put makeup on afterward don’t want it smearing off) –so I would for go the jojoba–, also emu and kukui nut oil also are close to the skins natural sebum and work well for dryness, although the emu is from an animal source. I also wanted to ask you a question about using such a large amount of b.p. and skin safety? Benzoyl Peroxide isn’t used in Europe because it is considered unsafe, –is it safe to use such a large amount of b.p, ? Is there any other product/chemical etc that has the same oxygenated ability? Thanks

  24. Is this an avobenzone-based sunblock, zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, or something else? I’m very curious to try this out because I’m so picky about sunblocks, as most irritate my skin.

I agree with what many others have been saying: offer a smaller bottle of jojoba oil to go with the sunblock, but don’t force people to buy the bundle. The Proactiv, AcneFree, etc. mentality is to bundle bundle bundle products, and what I love about your online store is that there is no financial incentive to buy bundled products (besides shipping costs). The flexibility is a great benefit for customers.

  25. I’ve been waiting for Dan’s SPF since your original moisturizer was released, hehe. I don’t know much about SPF and whatnot, but I do know that since I’ve been using your AHA+ (day and night, my skin seems very malleable), flakiness has been completely under control. Anyone using your AHA+ just at night wouldn’t need to use the jojoba oil on top of the SPF because their flakiness would probably be under control.

Beside all that, I already have your jojoba oil (as most people on these boards do), and it is used very slowly, so I don’t believe packaging it along with the SPF would be necessary.

Well, my final opinion on this: don’t include the jojoba (since everyone already has it, or is willing to buy it separately; and AHA+ owners have flakiness under control anyway) , and if it’s not too troublesome, have both SPF 15 and 30 (I’d be fine with either, but it seems everyone here is torn on which they want, though leaning towards SPF 15). In the end, I just want this SPF! I’ve been waiting for years! =O

  26. ive purchased many of your products and think that the addition of a sunscreen has been a long time coming! as a 24 year old who has battled acne since middle school and who is also a religious sunscreen user, i would appreciate an spf 30 without jojoba oil. from what ive seen in myself and friends, jojoba oil can clog pores and trigger breakouts in some people. i think a very benign, oil free formula would be best. thenpeople can then layer things like moisturizers, treatments and jojoba oil if they wish.

i would also recommend zinc oxide as the active sun blocker. it is less pore clogging than titanium dioxide, has healing properties and is safe for those with sensitive skin (and those who are using acne treatments often have skin that is sensitized). also, the effectiveness of chemical sunscreens can be cancelled out by mineral foundations, which many acne prone gals (and even some guys) use.

hope this helps! cant wait to see what you guys come up with!

  27. i loveee mario badescu’s moisturizer. i use it on a daily basis, and it simply has spf 15. i use the collagen moisuturizer (SPF-15) because my skin is combination and can be dry, but they have many variations. the most popular moisturizer of mario badescu’s is the oil-free moisturizer (SPF-15) and is recommended for most that are acne-prone. i have not had any negative results with this moisturizer. it’s greatt.

  28. I definitely want spf 30, there are tons of moisturizers out there with 15, I want a 30! I don’t think you need to sell it with the oil though, since a lot of people already have it. I think, maybe sell 2 version, 1 with oil, 1 with out. For sure do spf 30 though.

  29. I love the idea, I’ll buy it in a heartbeat with or without jojoba oil, but I think it’s a good idea to give people the option of buying it without, because some of us already have a big multipurpose bottle of jojoba oil!
I completely back the SPF 30, I personally wouldn’t use any less on my face!

    Looking forward to it:)

  30. WHEN DOES THIS COME OUT?!?!? This video was made almost a month ago… and I REALLY NEED SPF! I’m not comfortable purchasing one that isn’t made by Dan… mostly cuz I don’t want it to effect my regimen. The last thing I need is for some random spf lotion to take me 2 steps back when I just started making forward progress!!!
MAKE IT FAST!! :) With or without jojoba (you can never have too much, it’ll always be used eventually) I’m ready for Dan’s SPF!!!!

  31. Hi Dan

May I suggest that you give options to people to choose whether they will like to have jojoba oil included with their purchase of SPF moisturizer? New users may need the jojoba oil, but majority who are your “old” customers will not need it anymore. I have bought the jojoba oil so I wont need it if I’m going to get the SPF moisturizer from you. It will eliminate waste of jojoba oil. I forsee some may throw it away when they find they dont need it at all. I dont need any flaky control as well, so the jojoba oil I bought is basically for my hair.

Hope you can look into my suggestion. Great work! Keep it up. I really hope to see your trial run on this SPF moisturizer soon…. real soon. I cant wait to try it. Hurry up.. Put it in the trial run NOW!

  32. Everyone has great ideas…to sum up my thoughts on this…my suggestion is to –
-sell the SPF without the jojoba oil…
-make a travel size of jojoba oil that people can add on if they want.
-the SPF needs to be at least 30..15 is good for some, but not for fair skin with the regimen you are selling. (so maybe have both 15 and 30)

My question is–Will adding the jojoba oil dilute the strength of the SPF? IMPORTANT TO KNOW. And when does it come out? :) yay!

  33. My vote would be for a zinc-oxide only sunscreen in an extremely light base of Water and silicones. No fragrance or glycerin either.

  34. Titanium dioxide, in addition to zinc oxide, is also non-comedogenic. I’ve been using Bare Escentuals sunscreen (SPF 30) on my face, which is a powder sunscreen containing titanium dioxide. I’ve had no problems with it. In fact, I think it’s helped make my skin go from 95% clear to 99% clear. I’ve been also using California Baby on the rest of my body. It’s the only non-chemical sunscreen (no avobenzone or oxybenzone) that blends really well and isn’t greasy. Might be a good alternative for anyone who doesn’t want to use a makeup-like, tinted powder. Dan, why not check out California Baby brand and perhaps manufacture a cheaper version, the same way you did BP? Like the manufacturers of California Baby, don’t to use any parabens, propylene glycol, or any other chemicals like that in the formula, which have been found to be toxic. I’m very glad you don’t put any of those things in your BP, which works quite well for me.

    Keep up the good work.

    Best,
    Alex

  35. FYI – jojoba oil is a natural sunscreen. Used alone, you’d get about an hour of protection. Mixed into someone’s sunscreen for sale, you will NOT be diluting your sunscreen; it’s all supportive.
