I didnt know about your SA product. Anyways I am glad there are a lots of comments/opinions here. Truly acne has to be defeated but first to control it on the surface.

I was reading a post above and made sense, by the way I had acne for a long time now... and i am 30 :( ...

Certainly if you have active zits/pimples/pustules/ etc they wont clear up right away. But I am kind of leaning towards trying BP again plus a good SA product because they will complement each other by killing the bacteria and keeping pores clear... maybe there are some volunteers out there willing to give it a try for a few weeks.

I am currently doing the blue/red light therapy and just at 30% of the whole package but not feeling that happy doing it so far, specially because my derm also suggested using this brand of products EPIONCE that are quite expensive but oh well... i gotta try anything if I was on accutane why not this now. Yes epionce has SA and besides that derm suggested to use differing on top of SA at nights... yes thats like a double bomb and I am doing so far 3 weeks past gone and broke like crazy... hope it gets better

Anyways, another comments is that we know how acne happens... lets think of another approach cause for many the many treatments out there dont work.... is it possible like accutane does in severe case to tackle acne from the inside out? I believe it is but maybe it wont be totally understood or discovered for a few more years...

So I just hope for some crazy breakthrough out there from the research community...

thx

Hi Dan,

I agree with you that sal acid just isn't bp. I am very enthousiastic about this product however! I'll tell you why.

I've been on the regimen for about three years now. Before I started the regimen I was on
tetracycline, so I'm kind of a heavy case. It took me about five months to get clear with bp, but ever since, I've got my acne under control. There's just one downside: the amount of clothes I ruined with bp is uncountable.

That's why I'm so happy with the sal acid. Whenever I wear clothes with colored collars I put on sal acid. The stuff wouldn't get me clear from where I started, but absolutely keeps me clear (if I keep varying it with bp) where I'm now.

It's like AHA+ for me: it's a great product, not on itself, but complementary on the standard regimen.

I really hope you keep making it.

I'm late to this post, but I only just recently started using your SA. I've tried a couple of different acne treatments, including BP. The one that has seemed to show the most promise has been SA. I have been using Noxema pads along with the acne.org cleanser and the AHA.

After a recent road trip this weekend, my face was in the midst of an unsightly breakout. Stress, bad diet, breaking of routing; I suppose all could have been factors. I had received your SA in the mail but did not want to try it before the trip in case my skin did not react well. Upon my return I decided to give it a go.

The results have been fantastic so far. Easily the best SA I have ever used. I applied it first that night back home and woke up the next morning surprised at how much better my face looked. I've been using it a few days now, still using the cleanser and the AHA mainly as a spot treatment. Inflammations are down, red marks are fading, and the rest of my skin is looking great.

I guess I should give it at least 3 more weeks before rendering a final verdict, but, at this point, it's definitely a product I would buy regularly if this continues to be the result. It's working great for me and provides a nice alternative for those who, for whatever reason, cannot or do not want to use BP.

Like someone said above, I think you should keep making the SA because it hits acne from a different direction than bp - and depending on what the biggest cause of your acne is, it can really help.

I've been alternating between salycylic acid and bp, and its not only been easier to keep my face clear - but it just makes my skin look good, period. BP gets rid of acne, but doesn't do anything for how the skin looks underneath.

Please don't stop making the SA. I don't have any strong acne, so I just need something mild to keep things at bay, and the SA does that + is a great moisturizer and aftershave. It's like a 3 in 1 for me... please don't stop making it, or at least let us know before you run out of the batch so I can stockpile.

I'm afraid there is no other single-ingredient-does-it-all like BP; sal acid or an AHA combined with other ingredients (such as jojoba!) would be the best way to go for those who would rather not use BP.

I ordered Dan's SA a few days ago... so I can't speak from experience yet, but honestly, I already use SA every morning... I am apparently really careless (or something) but I've reached a balance point in terms of how many of my clothes I'm willing to bleach ; )

BP every night, but SA every morning.

If Dan's is at least as good as the stuff i'm using now, I'd stick with his.

Hi,

I am one of those people who doesn't follow your regimen exactly... I cannot bear to only wear white during the day, so I only use BP at night. My acne is not too bad, using BP once a day my skin is pretty good but not perfect. I use SA in a cleanser like Matt said and I think it really helps. I might try yours too, but will probably wait until I need to buy more BP to save on shipping costs (if the SA is still available?)... just wanted to chime in as a person who uses your products in more of a "mix & match" way. Overall I think SA can be useful, so if you have made the best SA product available like people are saying, I think you should stick with it!

SA has been great as an additive to different facial clensers. Neutrogena has been actively including BHA into their NutriPure line of facial cleansers as well as Nutrogena T-Gel (they use 3% SA) to control flakiness. Consider it as an addition to your cleanser, especially if you market it as a shampoo alternative. The only reason I am using Neutrogena's cleanser and not your own is because it has 2% SA in it. Thanks!

While I'm a huge fan of BP (SA never did anything but tear my skin up) I think it's really good to have an alternative, a proven topical alternative to BP - one of the problems people have on the regimen is that some of them can't, just can't use BP. I'd really hate to see this regimen in any exclude people or lessen it's scope, the range of people who can use it.

I never would have thought as using SA as a moisturizer, though, until you mentioned it on this video. I like the AHA (huge fan of it now, never going without it!) - and I like Dave's idea of SA being more of a substitute for AHA, maybe?

I know I already posted here, but let me add one more thing about the SA. For some people, AHA hasn't been as effective on non-inflamed acne/bumps. SA is an alternative to AHA that seems to work more powerfully and leave skin fully clear. Obviously, it's not as effective on its own as BP is, but I think SA should be thought of more as an alternative to AHA and an alternative for those who can't use BP.
