My skin stayed completely, totally clear using the sal acid in the morning and BP at night. I was paranoid to go to twice daily sal acid though because Joel, Paul, Brandy, and other people were coming to visit and I didn’t want to be broken out :) But they’re gone now so I switched to the sal acid morning and evening. My skin is totally clear. The cool thing is, it’s like even under a microscope it would be clear. I have nothing even starting to pop up. What is remarkable about this is that I have had a weird illness for two weeks now and have been blowing my nose constantly. Normally, there is nothing that will prevent breakouts with that much irritation around my nose. But this time is different. My nose is completely smooth. It’s almost weird.

In the interest of full disclosure, since I’ve been sick I have been eating less too. My appetite is down. So I’ve been losing weight. When people lose weight, their skin is often better. So I will keep experimenting with just the sal acid twice a day and keep you guys posted. As of right now I am loving it. And since I switched to using it twice a day I can eliminate the moisturizing step!

yeah, me too. so when are we looking at this being available? Is ther any merit to trying another 2% salicylic solution in the meantime?

Personally, I can’t use benzoyl peroxide. Salicylic acid is the only other option I see available to me, but it seems that all products weren’t created equal. I’m glad to see talk about it, as bp makes my skin swell and itch and my pores basically explode.

I switched from Salicylic acid, to your regimen.. I used it for a year, and it did nothing for me, except tear up my skin… If i applied it to a zit, it would just literally dissolve and tear it apart… wasn’t good. So I think I will be sticking wiith BP

Glad it worked for you though!

I love salicylic acid – use it in combination with Retinol.

    I just can’t use BP.

QUALITY SA products really keep me clear.

    I can’t wait for yours!

    PLEASE market this stuff soon.

Yeah I actually had the same question about trying other 2% SA products…the only one that caught my eye was the Neutrogena Stress Control, and I’ve been using it for the past three days in the mornings and it seems to be doing a good job. For me the problem is that the BP dries me out like crazy and makes me flaky, to the point where it seems that no moisturizer is capable of making me look not dry. I’m still using the BP at night though, namely because I’m afraid to totally ditch it. The SA is making me less dry, but still not to the point where I’d like to be. I tried jojoba and it didn’t really help me that much, but I’m using AHA moisturizer at night, so maybe that’ll make a difference soon.

I guess my question is… are you saying now that the Regimen will not work as well as Salicylic acid does? What does this mean for the Regimen, and what made you try the SA in the first place?

  • Katya

When are we gonna be able to buy your SA product ? I cant wait ! I keep on switching from brand to brand because I can not find something good enough for my skin.

I’m looking forward to this just to save my wardrobe. The BP works really well (for the most part) but I’ve had countless tees and button down shirts ruined. Sucks when you spend $30 on a nice tee.

Wow, what a great site! I use an exfoliating scrub with SA (basically the generic CVS version of the St Ives apricot scrub) on my face, which helps with the acne as well with any ingrown hairs from shaving. It also helps to diminish scars over time. I also use a body wash with SA. I used to use BP (Clean and Clear Continuous Control), but then quit after reading that it could make your skin worse (even though that wasn’t my experience). After discovering this site, I’ve decided to give Dan’s regiment a try.

I AGREE! I was using BP, switched to Clearasil Pads that contain 2% salicylic acid. They’re so easy to use and now I use em morning and night without moisturizer….so one easy step! Its amazing.

The sad thing is I tried it when I first started getting acne like 12 years ago and it really irritated me. I guess your skin gets tougher as you abuse it more with more treatments. Now it works great.

So those of you who don’t like it now – keep it in mind for years to come!
