I've used BP products for a long time now. Unfortunataly it appears it no longer works against my acne. I'm looking into other methods now. It is nice to note that BP caused little dryness (if I used a low %) and really reduces oil on my face, however I feel it can irritate in other ways causing redness. So by all means try it if you havn't, it's one of the best OTC methods, IF it works. But if your acne starts coming back, try something else.

Anti-acne treatments containing benzoyl peroxide do work to kill acne-causing bacteria but overall, the side effects are much worse. Benzoyl peroxide is known to damage the skin structure through oxidation. Thus, premature aging is a problem. Besides, it is too drying. Some may find that after using benzoyl peroxide as daily regimen, once you stop your acne becomes much, much, much worse !! It happened to me. Thank goodness for salicylic acid though !! Lifesaver.

Well benzoyl peroxide really doesnt seem to work for me. It may help clear up the existing acne but it definitely doesnt prevent pimples from recurring. I'm streaky, I clear up only to be followed by a breakout so I have given up with this treatment. The only treatment that worked really well for me was Tetracycline but I had to discontinue the antibiotics because of potential swelling it causes in the optic nerves

BP 6% works OK (Derma prescribed). Wanted me to use 2x/day but it was drying out my skin too much so I alternate between the BP and an OTC pad.

This med is not covered by my insurance co. but if you go to the Triaz website, you can get a mail-in rebate for Triaz as well as other acne meds.

I tried the Triaz Cleanser a few years ago. It was good at first, but after I was almost done with the whole bottle, I started becoming sensitive to it & my face started to swell and dry out. I use "philosophy purity made simple" cleanser now, and I love it. It's not medicated, and it really balances out your skin.

I used to have mild/moderate cystic acne on my back. One day when it was particularily bad, I got fed up and decided to just try to annihilate it with some 10% bp cream (Persa-gel). I covered my back in a generous layer every night for about two weeks and left it on overnight (if you are going to try this wear a white shirt as it will bleach your clothes). I washed it off in the shower in the morning with a mild cleanser, and did not add a moisturizer or anything afterwards. That was about 6 months ago and I have hardly had a zit since. I repeat the procedure about once every two weeks or so, or if I feel a zit coming on and it has worked great! Good luck!

BP worked okay...it would make my skin nice and smooth, but the only problem for me was that every time I use BP 2.5, 10% and the BP wash (10%) I get these hard cysts, which i never get prior to using BP. For instance in a two month period I would get 1. So for me it seems to control regular pimples but then I get stuck with these painful cyst like bumps and for me its not worth it.

To all people
I had acne since many years and I used Roaccutan many times,
antibiotics and so on. I also had 3 chemical peels.
Now I'm 30 and things are better but skin is still fatty
so I need to take care alot ( it's a genetic factor ).

I'm using differin on the night and benzoil peroxide 10% in the morning and I'm doing very well.

From my multi year experience I can say the following:

Few considerations for everybody: EVERY product must be used
consistenly for at least 2-3 months. Some products get your acne worst in the first weeeks ( adapalene ) and it's absolutely normal and it has been studied and tested.
There are some intolerance ( I probably have it for azelaic acid ) but in general the main guidelines are:

Benzoil peroxide:
it is used to kill P. acnes, the bacterium
that causes infections. It is not used to reduce the oil in your skin. The dryness it's only a side effect, not the purpose of this product.

Antibiotics:
do the same as benzoil peroxide but they also
try to cure the inflamation. Remember they cna't be used for long time because they can create bacteria resistance.
Benzoil peroxide DON'T create resistance and it can be used for many years without stop.

Differin and other retinoids ( like retin -A ): they dont kill bacterias but they help to stimulate your skin cells to renewate faster and they generate a soft peel in order
to open the pimples.

Roaccutan ( oral ): it works shrinking your sebaceous glands
in order to redure the oil in your skin. It's THE ONLY proeduct working on the glads and shrinkin it.

Cleaning 2 times per day and use soft scrub helps alot.

Hope this helps for anyone
