| Pros | - available to everyone - cheap - helpful and effective |

| Cons | - shouldn't use every single day |
| Bottom line | The bottom line with baking soda is that it works to an extent. It works great, actually. My face is pretty bad, to the point where I hate leaving the house, I hate going anywhere, just because I don't have clear skin. However, my problem may be different from a few others; I know it's recommended heavily against, but I can't ever help but scratch and pick at my acne. I scratch them until they're absolute, bleeding scars, until they're unrecognizable as acne. And so one day, I was looking at myself in the mirror, saw that I had these awful scabs and scars everywhere, so I tried baking soda and water. I stirred until the mixture was thick enough to stay on my face, but liquidy enough not to crumble to pieces. I spread it on all over, and let it stay as a mask for 10 minutes. Ensure that you remain still, or the mask will begin to "snow" whenever you move. I turned on the water to be lukewarm, borderline cool, and I used only my fingertips to rub in circular motions at my face. If the mask restricted rubbing because of water and paste buildup, I would just run my palm under the water and dab my face at those areas. I pat the towel in gentle, small and rapid pats all around my face. Very gentle, very rapid. No pressure applied at all. After this, I notice the scabs are not black, the scars are not red. The baking soda peeled off the layer of dead skin, and now it's just flesh that needs to heal. Now that it's no longer acne and it's just a cut, I apply Polysporin, and it heals great. You also don't have to worry about that lasting discolouration from old scars; baking soda bleaches your skin and evens out the skin tone. (: I would advise against using it too much. Peeling off skin that is trying to heal too often won't give it a chance to go away completely. But with new breakouts, I would use it more consistently, until the scars are fleshy and you can use Polysporin. I have a piano recital coming up, so I am so, so, SO thankful for Arm & Hammer Baking Sod |

| Bottom line | I don't have very bad acne, just some bumps on my skin that aren't too visible but very annoying. This was so good, my skin felt really smooth and even almost instantaneously. :) |

| Pros | exfoliates your skin skin feels clean cheap |
|---|---|
| Cons | stings, dries out your skin, caused more breakouts where i usually don't break out |
| Bottom line | I tried this for a couple of days and did not have a good reaction to it so I stopped. It was too harsh for my combination skin, and I was gentle with it. It gave me pimples around my mouth where I never had any before. After using it I could see that my skin was sort of peeling, and not in a good way. I would recommend a gentler exfoliant, like right now I am using one with pumice micro particles and it's working really well. I have light acne, and my biggest problem is clogged pores and a couple of pimples. Also, maybe I didn't stick to it enough to see great results, because it seems to work for a lot of people, but I would say be careful if you are looking for something gentle. |

| Pros | *great for exfoliating *dries up pimples *can be used as a wash, mask, or spot treatment *cheap! |
|---|---|
| Cons | *have to use oil free moisturizer *give it some time to work! |
| Bottom line | After having allergic reactions to several different acne medications, I was looking for something that would get rid of my acne and not irritate or cause an allergic reaction. I had heard about using baking soda but was a little sceptical, to be honest, but decided I had nothing to lose. I made sure to test the wash (a tablespoon or so of baking soda mixed with a tablespoon of water) on a small part of my face to make sure I wouldn't have an allergic reaction. The next day, I tried the wash on my whole face. I did this for a few weeks and combined it with two other things. I washed with a salicylic acid wash, then exfoliate with the baking soda, then use an astringent pad. I also used the baking soda as a mask every few days before bed. It works great! It gently scrubs off all the dead skin and leaves my face very smooth. It tingles to let you know it is working, and it got rid of my oily forehead and chin. The only con is you have to use an oil free moisturizer (I only use it in the morning) or your face will get dried out. Also, you have to give it some time to work and allow your skin to heal. I have tried so many different things and nothing has worked for me the way this has! I have incredibly sensitive skin and have had allergic reactions to so many things, but this works great for me. If you are looking for something new to try, I would definitely recommend trying it! |

| Pros | -Exfoliates my skin -Soft matte skin afterwards -Feels very clean |
|---|---|
| Cons | -Looks subtly dried out, but in a few hours my natural oils will balance this out. I'm not sure I'd even call this a "con" |
| Bottom line | Today I used baking soda on my face for the first time. I'm very pleased and even surprised with the results! I used about 1/4 teaspoon and ran the water enough into my palm to get a good paste going (note: this was a very thin paste--I didn't want to over do it) and gently rubbed it around my face with my fingers. When I noticed skin balling up and literally just peeling off of my face, I got a rag with cold water on it and gently rubbed my face. Then I rinsed. I had no idea that baking soda would exfoliate my skin! My skin looks and feels beautiful. And clean! Baking soda is now a permanent part of my beauty regimen. |

| Pros | Fades scarring Got rid of blackheads Kept me from breaking out Got rid of dry, flaky skin patches Reduces redness |
|---|---|
| Cons | Have to be really, really, gentle and not use too much or else your skin will dry out |
| Bottom line | Seriously, use baking soda. It's super-cheap and very effective. What I do is, @ night, take a little Baking soda, add water until it feels smooth, pat on face, LIGHTLY rub, then wash off in shower. Btw, good as a mask too. Just leave it on for like 15 min., can add honey or more water if it is too strong. |

| Pros | Very cheap Gets rid of dead skin Can be used as a scrub OR it can be used as a mask and then scrub off when dry Can be used overnight as a spot treatment when mixed into a paste |
|---|---|
| Cons | Doesn't do anything for blackheads on nose |
| Bottom line | I overall liked Baking Soda as a acne fighter. However, DO NOT use with lemons. I mixed this with lemons and a very strange smell occured so I researched it and apparently lemon and baking soda cause a chemical reaction so I advise you do use the lemon as a toner AFTER you wash off the baking soda if you plan on using both products. |
