| Pros | It's cheap and it works. What more do I have to say? |
|---|---|
| Cons | None, though it can sting and irritate if you use it too much and more than once a day. I've warned you, so don't do it! |
| Bottom line | After I got this terrible stomach virus, my face broke out severely, especially on my forehead area. I had like 10 pimples on my head and 2 on each of my cheeks. It was so nasty! I was kind of annoyed because my sulfur mask wasn't working as it used to, and I had no money to buy acne products and cleansers and such. While looking for food in the kitchen, out of whim, I looked at my baking soda in the fridge and said: "Why not?" I'd tried it before, but it was too drying and harsh on my dry and sensitive skin. So to combat that, instead of adding water and making a mask, I added olive oil and turned it into a scrub! My word people, that did WONDERS! This is my regimen: Morning and night I wash my face with my Dove Beauty bar soap twice, then put the baking soda/olive oil mixture on may face and massage gently, exfoliating the dead skin cells. It's very moisturizing, which is good for for who has very dry skin. After I put the scrub I wash it off with lukewarm water and then with cold water to close my pores. Then I put on a LIGHT (water-based) moisturizer - I personally use Faerie Organic Dewy Glow Moisturizer, so I get the extra moisture, but not enough to break me out. (If you have oily skin, I'd suggest using a good toner and then add your favorite moisturizer after. Or you don't have to add moisturizer at all, since the olive oil will do it.) It's really helpful during this dry winter. Doing this has helped my face look brighter. And those pimples? After 3 nights of doing this they are either gone or so small, you can barely see them. I believe the the combination of the baking soda (which dried out the pimples) and the olive oil (which healed and brightened my skin) helped the most. Bottom line: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! :) |

| Pros | I have mild acne (5-7 pimples at a time) and within 3 or 4 washes, this completly cleared my face and i have not broken out since! It is CHEAP and doesnt contain harsh ingredients that irritate my VERY sensitive skin. My pores have gotten noticably smaller and my skin shines & looks great! |
|---|---|
| Cons | If you use this more than once a day, or with other products your skin will probably dry out. Also, if you have really sensitive skin and leave the baking soda on for a long time it may sting, but nothing remotley unbearable. |
| Bottom line | I beleive this is the most effective thing I have ever used and its dirt cheap! |

| Pros | Cheap Easily available |
|---|---|
| Cons | A bit messy |
| Bottom line | Absolutely worth it! Even though my acne was not terrible, I was looking for something economical and homeopathic to use to improve the dry skin on my nose, and make my skin softer. Since I'm 38, I don't have pristine skin, but this makes me look younger, and my skin is so soft. I scrub morning and night with baking soda. About 3-4 times a week, I apply a baking soda mask and leave it until it dries then rinse with warm water. I always follow it with vinegar (just a bit on a cotton ball), and swab my face with it. Yes, its smelly, but it works. Then I slather on some face cream/lotion. It's worked wonders for me!! |

| Pros | -Cheap! -Has reduced oily skin -Reduces redness -Smooth Skin |
|---|---|
| Cons | -Messy |
| Bottom line | I have been using harsh topicals on my skin for a while now and this seems to help better than any of them. I use it as a mask a few nights a week and also mix it with my gentle face wash. Scrub gently though. I absolutely love this stuffffff :) :) |

| Pros | CHEAP, easy to use, BEST product I've used ever! |
|---|---|
| Cons | nothing too bad to cause me to not use it. seriously. baking soda is AMAZING. |
| Bottom line | TRY it. I've been suffering from HORRIBLE acne since I was about 12. I'm 22 now and have never found anything so effective as this. I was extremely skeptical because well, it's too simple! But I'm so glad I gave it a chance. Baking soda is my new best friend! I started adding baking soda to my skin care routine and have seen immediate results. Give these tricks a shot : Add baking soda to your face wash Use baking soda+ a little water and use it as a face mask & also, boil a few tablespoons of thyme. when the water is hot, pour into a bowl, put your face over the bowl& a towel over your head. Steam for 5-10 minutes. Thyme helps with extremely oily skin and steam causes your pores to open up& allow all the dirt to drip out in the sweat. Please, try any or all of these..I promise you won't be disappointed. |

| Pros | - easy - cheap - works in a pinch |
|---|---|
| Cons | - stings skin the first few times - dries skin |
| Bottom line | Baking soda will work in a pinch to reduce redness, but I don't really recommend it because it didn't do much for my acne otherwise. |

| Pros | Works fast Does its job Is plain amazing |
|---|---|
| Cons | None at all. |
| Bottom line | I used this after seeing it on the internet and i made it up twice in one night the first time i didnt have much baking soda so i rinsed my face and made it up again. The second time I made it with more baking soda it felt much better on my face. I have very very sensative skin so to have nothing more than a light sting that most people are talking about its amazing. If you do try this and feel the stink dont worry at all. Many people think the sting is bad but from using countless things to try and clear my face and feel the sting everytime all that is doing is telling you that your face is clearing up. After the first time i almost never feel the sting again. But after ten minutes i went in and looked in the mirror and seeing the couple i had be close to gone is like amazing i reccomend this for any and everyone with or with out sensative skin. |

| Pros | Really works. Inexpensive. Effective. |
|---|---|
| Cons | None. |
| Bottom line | Please use organic baking soda. Doing so will avoid aluminum and other potential impurities. I believe many posters here that have experienced what they refer to as "burning," might be due to impurities in regular baking soda (but I could be wrong). My facial skin is the measure for all manner of sensitive skin; I only use water to "wash" by gently running washcloth over my face--no soaps for months now and my skin feels and looks restored. I use an organic baking soda I get from bulk at our local food co-op. I put it in a little cup, add water to make a liquid/paste consistency, then I apply it to make a mask, allowing it to dry then leaving it on for about 15 to 20 minutes. It really does work to stop acne and it has been definitely drawing out the blackheads. I do this once or twice/week. If I see acne starting, I dab extra baking soda from the mixture on the spot (or spots) to really create a drawing effect. In all instances so far, the acne dissipates and goes away. I am actually pretty surprised because nothing else has really worked to relieve acne from a topical standpoint, except the baking soda. What I find for internal benefit is simply not eating grains but for maybe one a week; and even then I make my own natural wild sourdough rye bread. I eat moderately healthy fats (clarified butter from 100 percent grass fed cows, coconut oil, olive oil; no vegetable oils), plenty of vegetables cooked correctly and raw, kefired goat milk (I have the kefir grains and make my own from fresh, plain goat milk) and goat cheeses, and plenty of organic eggs. Anyhow, I hope my information above helps others. I found this website to be a huge help using posts for the baking soda remedy. Give it a try. I was very happy I did. |
