| Pros | -Felt so fresh and clean on my face! -Great, yet gentle exfoliant -Inexpensive and easy to use -Reduced redness |

| Cons | None |
| Bottom line | I love it! I've had acne scars for a year now that have faded but just won't go away. My acne is actually very light. I only get 1 or 2 pimples at a time and they dry up and go away quickly. But every time I get a pimple, I scar. I don't pick at my face. I don't pop them. But I ALWAYS scar. So, I've done research and have read that baking soda can help fade acne scars by exfoliating dead skin cells away and revealing new skin underneath. I've not yet seen results as I have only used it once but I will continue to use this definitely. Here's what I did: 1 teaspoon baking soda diluted by 1 teaspoon water and a small amount of olive oil. I wet my face with warm water to open up pores then pat my face ALMOST dry. After exfoliating with baking soda mixture, I rinsed thoroughly, dried my face with a CLEAN towel and used cotton balls to swab on apple cider vinegar[to keep my skin's pH levels balanced] Then rinsed my face with COLD water to close pores My face feels great now! It's very smooth and soft and feels SO CLEAN. I highly recommend this!! |

| Pros | -cheap -easy to find in stores -common house hold thing -you can see results fast |
|---|---|
| Cons | -a little messy -can cause a burning feeling/irritation |
| Bottom line | I am 14 years old with some acne. I literally JUST tried the baking soda with water a couple hours ago. I took a small dixie-cup and mixed some baking soda with a little water and mixed it up. I used a cotton ball and put the mixture over my face, then washed off about 1 minute after. I can see some results already, but it caused a little irritation- but i have VERY sensitive skin. I can tell it helped take away some black heads. I will try this again tomorrow, seems to work well! |

| Pros | When used as an exfoliant mixed with some table sugar, I love it. It gets rid of all the dead skin that's clogging up pores, and is very effective with those little white bumps on my chin. It doesn't dry out my skin either. |
|---|---|
| Cons | The first time I use it, my skin was a little red. NEVER use it as a mask, it hurts like heck. Also, since it has a pH of 8.3. It is a base and you may want to splash yourself with lemon juice or something acidic to keep your skin pH balanced. |
| Bottom line | I've had acne for four years, and I'm 14. I have it on my face and body, and I never knew exfoliant would help it, but this one does. I would recommend it. You don't have to go out an buy some fancy product because you probably already have some baking soda and water. You may as well try it. |

| Pros | This is very inexpensive and easy to use. it is one of those things that almost every house has in it. |
|---|---|
| Cons | It may burn the first couple of times, especially if you have an open wound on your skin. |
| Bottom line | Yes, use this. It works if you use is on a consistent basis. I mix it with honey to make a paste and apply it to my skin to make a mask, Leave it on for about 30 minutes, wash off with warm water and antibacterial soap, pat dry with towel and apply BPO gel/creme before going to sleep |

| Pros | - Helps alot with pimples - lightens my acne marks(been using for about 2 weeks) |
|---|---|
| Cons | - none really. |
| Bottom line | I'm one of those people who keep changing their regimen a lot, but i'm really trying to stick with this. I used to have moderately severe acne and yogurt(plain, mask everyday) got rid of that, but I still had marks and I would always get random pimple breakouts, and yogurt wasn't helping anymore (overused it). Anyways... here's is my new regimen and it's working really well:) - I mix in the baking soda in my cleanser(organic black african soap from ghana/cheap on e b a y) about 2-3 days out of a week (for morning and night/ sometimes only morning or only night. - I mix it in by getting a really good lather out of my face bar, then put some baking soda in my hands (about 2 quarters sized) and then scrub my hands together for a bit and then clean my face with that. - At night I put on lemon juice (from the bottles, I don't dilute it, but if you have sensitive skin it's 50/50 with water) - After the lemon juice dries I put on a homemade vitamin C lotion/serum(google it, it's just crushed vit c's with moisturizer) the best way would be to get L-ascorbin acid powder and mix it w/ water but till I get that i'll use vitamin c pills. Put only a THIN layer, this will burn a lot(the more you use it the less it burns) I DON'T recommend for sensitive skin unless you buy the powder and go slowly. - After the serum dries I put on emu oil THIN layer. REMEMBER : the less of things you put on your skin the better. Less will always be more. Good luck :) |

| Pros | Inexpensive Easy to find in any grocery store Simple |
|---|---|
| Cons | N/A. I have just tried it once today for the first time. |
| Bottom line | I am an African-American female who has had acne breakouts off and on since youth. I have tried many natural and store bought products. The expense of most was not worth it. The baking soda had an immediate effect of drying the cysts and noticeably softening and smoothing my skin. I am committed to using it consistently for the next few weeks to see the full effects of its use. |

| Pros | -An amazing exfoliant and softener. Like nothing else I've used. -CHEAP, nontoxic, and safe |
|---|---|
| Cons | -Will irritate if left on too long -Will upset pH if not followed with an acidic toner or other treatment -Can be messy (see my advice for a nifty dispenser) |
| Bottom line | I use baking soda every morning and night to exfoliate and cleanse my face.It made my face soft, smooth, and supple. So great! It's important to use it gently and never leave it on long enough to cause irritation. In order to use it without mess (never try to use it from the box. Pouring is messy, the box gets soggy if wet, etc.) do the following: --Buy an empty spice container (the sort you'd get in a bulk foods aisle--I found a nice glass one at the health food store) --Fill it with baking soda. Ditch the box. --To use, first wet face. Using your nifty dispenser, sprinkle a tablespoon or so of the baking soda into one hand, then use your other hand to drip some water on the stuff until it looks like a paste (you'll get the hang of the ratios pretty quickly) --Rub hands together, gently apply to face. --How long you leave it on is a personal choice--definitely start with shorter times. --After using it, make sure to follow with something acidic (e.g., apple cider vinegar diluted with 50-70% water) to restore pH. |
