Pros: works on face AMAZINGLY!!!!!!!!! Cons: iam using it for my shoulder and chest acne.... its been over a monthe and i see absoultly no improvment!!!!!! Pros: Works fairly fast, cleared up old acne and new forming cysts. Cons: Hate being on antibiotics for extended periods Bottom Line: Bactrim works very well, better than Doxy or Minocycline, took Doxy for 4 months and I became resistant to it, broke out like a teenager.. Trying Bactrim as the last stop, will NOT take Accutane, took it 20 years ago, worked like a miracle but very harsh side effects and long term illness, Accutane is a God send but prepare for health issue's later in life, SERIOUS health issues. Bactrim has done a terrific job clearing up my acne and cystic acne, but will only take at short term increments. Good luck everyone, I know how frustrating acne is, I am a 44 year old female who has been batteling Cystic acne since I was 16. Recommended: Yes Usage: Ronnie has used this item for about a week. Pros: Completely cleared my skin after two weeks! Cons: None Bottom Line: I had huge cysts all over my face and I'd taken tetracycline for months with no improvement. Within days of taking bactrim I had no more breakouts, within two weeks all my previous breakouts had healed and disappeared. I'm also using trentinoin cream at night. My face is sort of dry so I have to exfoliate in the morning with a wash cloth, but my skin is so pretty and clear I don't have to wear makeup anymore! :D I am so thankful for bactrim! I'm just scared that my skin will go back to the way it was if I stop taking it. Recommended: Yes Usage: Missy has used this item for a few weeks. Pros: First half year it cleared me up... then 7months later my acne came back. Cons: BIG PILLS to swallow Bottom Line: it's a reason to give "interpharm inc" income... they prolly pay doctors to perscribe it. just tell your doctor you don't want to be a guinea pig and to give you something that ALWAYS has results. Pros: took this for an ear infection and my face completely cleared up...now i just use benzoyl peroxide and ziana to maintain my clear face. Cons: none Bottom Line: i think this could jump start acne treatment/get rid of the bacterial infection. just make sure you use creams to keep your face clear afterward. Pros: absolutely amazing. Cons: It's a antibiotic, i hope my body doesn't become immune... Bottom Line: After taking tetracycline and my skin got WORSE, I was feeling pretty crappy by then. So, I saw my dermo again, and he prescribed this stuff. I was so relieved to be off tetracycline, and at first i didn't see any results with Bactrim, but after a month i began seeing great improvements with my skin. And Now it's been two months, and my skin is completely free of pimples. Touch it, and it is smooth and wonderful. Pros: Works Amazing! Cons: None Bottom Line: Bactrim DS 160mg/800mg Tablets 60 (6 x 10) (Authority Script) 46 cents per tablet This is the only thing that really works. I get deep cyst type pimples on my cheeks, but within a week of starting this, they disappeared. I have been on it for over a year now. I know it is still working because if I forget to take it for a few days, I will ALWAYS break out! The best thing is I can now be so carefree with my skin and I still wont get cysts. For example: I don't use any acne creams, I wash my face with soap, I can sleep in my makeup, and I can forget to wash my face. My life has changed :-) A dermatologist got me onto this. And now my normal GP dispenses this to me as my dermatologist was nice enough to send a letter to my GP saying please dispense this, so I don't have to pay to go to the Dermatologists and pay his fees every time I need my script refilled. Pros: Incredibly effective, cheap and so far no side effects. Cons: It's an antibiotic so can't use indefinitely. Bottom Line: Allergic to Tetracycline and Minocycline so this was gonna be one of my last stops before the A word. Been taking it for about a month and I haven't been this clear for this long in 13 years. If you've tried everything else this is def. worth a shot before accutane. Pros: Worked very well on my skin Cons: I had a serum reaction and had to go to the hospital for a night. Awful symptoms including high fever, a lot of vomiting, and a rash. Bottom Line: It's probably a great drug if you know for sure that you can handle sulfa drugs. Otherwise the reaction can be pretty intense and scary.
