| Pros | Cleared up skin totally |
|---|---|
| Cons | None |
| Bottom line | I took this for maybe 15-18 months a while back, cleared up my mild cystic acne completely. Ever since I stopped about a year ago nothing has been as effective and I now feel I have to go back on it to avoid accutane. Ultimately where other antibiotics fail this will generally succeed and you won't need accutane. |

| Pros | I've been on this product for a week, and its really working! I don't have any active spots at the moment.. just old one's drying up (about 4 or 5 in total) I've also been pretty slack with it.. only taking the pill once a day (at night) instead of twice, because i hate large pills. I'm also into my second month of yaz.. so im not sure which one is most responsible for the change, but i think it's the bactrim, |
|---|---|
| Cons | you lose the contraception benefits of the pill.. which is why i can't be on it for much longer. praying the acne doesn't return once i get off it (hopefully the yaz will have kicked in by then and taken over) |
| Bottom line | try it! It works really fast.. its been less than a week and im amazed at the way its drying everything up. |

| Pros | Completely cleared mild-to-moderate cystic acne around my jawline |
|---|---|
| Cons | I may be allergic to it, may not be a long-term solution |
| Bottom line | This antibiotic cleared cystic acne that Solodyn could not. Began working after the first week; cleared all zits by the end of week two. Unfortunately, this drug is not ideal for long-term use and I do not plan on taking it more than one or two months. If necessary, I will get on spironolactone after discontinuing this product since it is probably safer for long-term use and will address what I suspect is the underlying issue for my acne--excess androgens. Additionally, I have had a small, localized rash on my stomach for the past week. At the same time that this occurred, I began getting a sore throat, headache and low fever. The doctor said I did not have strep throat, so I am wondering if I had an allergic reaction to the Bactrim. Fortunately, my sore throat went away, but the rash remains...I may not know what is causing it until I stop using Bactrim in a few days. |

| Pros | Started clearing up my acne within the first week. So far I have been on it for close to a month and I have noticed a much faster healing times for the few pimples I am still getting. My skin is much less oily and I haven't had any cystic type acne all month. (Typically I get at least a few of those huge, painful ones every month) |
|---|---|
| Cons | My stomach has been OFF. I am going to the bathroom several times a day, feel very bloated and gassy and have had some stomach aches. I have heard that long term use is also not recommended. |
| Bottom line | I have tried every cream, birth control pill and antibiotic, and so far this has been working the best for me. The only things I haven't tried are spernolactone and accutane. If the stomach problems continue, I may try an androgen blocking drug such as spernolactone before dealing with gas and constant bathroom breaks. |

| Pros | Cleared up my acne, both cysts and papules. Cheap Started working about a week in |
|---|---|
| Cons | None that I can think of |
| Bottom line | I've had acne since for 20 years. I've been on every prescription and drug store product I could find. Even tried the acne.org regimen. Nothing cleared up my skin completely except for Accutane which I was on when I was 17 yrs old. About 6 months ago my skin started breaking out like crazy with cysts and white heads. I didn't even want to leave the house. I went to a new dermatologist and he gave me two options, Bactrim or Accutane. Due to bouts of depression I wasn't a good candidate for Accutane anymore so I had to settle for the Bactrim, not expecting much. I even considered buying Accutane online, even though that is very dangerous. I'm soooo glad I did. This stuff has really worked well for me and I'm glad I gave it a chance. Plus, it's so cheap. $2.50 with my insurance which isn't that great. No negative side effects either. |

| Pros | Cleared up acne quick, new ones stopped forming immediately. I was taking minocycline, for 23 years, but it recently stopped working. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Have to cut pill in half because it is difficult to swallow. Seems to cause some throat dryness. |
| Bottom line | Worth it - hopefully will not become immune to it for awhile. |

| Pros | None at all. |
|---|---|
| Cons | did absolutely nothing for my acne. |
| Bottom line | I'm 16. and i've had acne since 14. My acne isn't THAT bad. mostly like 10 whiteheads on each cheek. but they're not severe so im like wtf. why hasn't any antibiotic or cream worked for me? I've tried every single antibiotic except doxycline. & right now im using septra with TAZORAC. EXPENSIVEE SH*TTT!. My last resort would be accutane but im not sure if it would be worth it. im really scared of blood tests : ' [ . who knew life would be like this when you would have to face your biggest fear. : ' ( |

| Pros | Works fast and it's great against cyst. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Some people have reactions to it. |
| Bottom line | It's a really good drug and a last resort before Acutane. Works great for me. |

| Pros | I always had acne, but in my 20s i developed more cystic acne on the sides of my cheeks. This cleared up everything for me. I can finally leave the house with no makeup and not be completely embarrassed. |
|---|---|
| Cons | I broke out like CRAZY when I stopped taking it. |
| Bottom line | I've tried almost every treatment on the market. This is the only one that has worked for me. I don't really care if I have to take this for the rest of my life. After dealing with acne so long, it's worth it to me to take a pill everyday to have clear skin. |

| Pros | Cleared up most cysts and a lot of shoulder/back acne. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Did not clear face up too much, just the very large acne. As soon as you stop, you break out again. |
| Bottom line | I have been off and on for several months. It's easy to forget one pill once in a while. It cleared the very large acne, but not the smaller acne which is on my face and chest. I stopped taking it for a bit and I broke out again, terribly but not with as many cysts. I got back on it again and it didn't do a dent into the smaller pimples, etc. I started taking green tea extract along with it, which I think helped somewhat. I am getting off it though to try something else. But really, it does work for some people just not for me. BUT less cysts which was nice. |
