| Pros: | Took awhile (about 3 weeks) but does seem to be working |
| Cons: | None, no allergic reaction |
| Bottom Line: | During the end of summer my acne suddenly went from mild to moderate with at least 3 or 4 new spots per day and tons of red marks. Had been on mino for 3 years which worked great (along with BCP) but I'm pretty sure I became immue to it. Started taking Sprio but after a month, no improvement. Derm perscribed Bactrim to help until the Sprio kicked in. It took about 3 weeks but literally one day I woke up with no new spots and haven't had any since. I think it's the combition of both the Sprio and the Bactrim because I was suprised that Bactrim didn't work right away for my moderate acne with all the reveiws here on quickly it works. Right now I'm on 2 pills a day and will probably dose down to 1 per day next month and I have to see how it goes.. |

| Pros: | the only thing that was worked for me. |
| Cons: | have to get lab work done. |
| Bottom Line: | my doc put me on differin, klaron, aminocin, and tazorac. the only medicine that worked for me is bactrim. i have to get lab work done every three months because i guess for some people it can lower your blood count (mine was always normal). it got rid of my cysts (i still have a couple once in awhile) and ive gotten so many compliments on my face. i have to take it 2 times a day but its worth it! |

| Pros: | Seems to work quickly even when other medications won't |
| Cons: | Warning-High levels of allergic reactions |
| Bottom Line: | Started to work after 10 days and things were looking good until...itchy hives and a rash on my legs. I would give it a try if other mild antibiotics aren't working out, maybe you will have better luck. |

| Pros: | Can you believe how cheap this stuff is? Works immediately! |
| Cons: | Havent seen any yet |
| Bottom Line: | Seems like the guys in the forums I have been in have a reaction less of the time than the females. I used to have minor to moderate acne. I have been on this stuff for more than 4 months and I rarely ever get a pimple. If I do, its gone in 2-3 days. I also use benzoyl peroxide every now and then, but could most likely stop that altogether and just use the bactrim. If you haven't tried it, do yourself a favor and get some. I will attempt to go on it once a day instead of the current two a day. PS. Get it from Walmart. Cheapest there is. |

| Pros: | Seemed to get acne under control. |
| Cons: | Broke out in hives |
| Bottom Line: | I had been on it a couple of weeks and noticed great improvement. Then I broke out in hives on my hands and arms. I had to discontinue. It's too bad... |

| Pros: | cleared my cystic acne less than a week |
| Cons: | It gives me nausea everyday, severe gastrointestinal pain throughout the day and night. |
| Bottom Line: | My doctor prescribed me this to clear up my moderate acne. I have a history of Gastritis (Inflammation of the abdomen) but my doctor still says to take it 2x a day. Within 6 days of taking it, i experienced a drug interaction. today i went to the hospital for a very severe stomach pain that won't go away for 2 1/2 hrs. my dr still advised me to continue taking it and that i have to take Prilosec. i dont believe her so i will stop taking it before it gets worst. |

| Pros: | None found. |
| Cons: | Gives you rash if you are allergic. |
| Bottom Line: | Turns out I am allergic to this stuff. After about 9 days of taking it I started to get a rash. sent to E.R and given benadryl and tagamet. Hopefully this stuff will clear the rash, but I know when I had an allergic reaction to minocycline, benadryl was not enough. |

| Pros: | Cheap. Few side effects. |
| Cons: | Pills large and a bit hard to swallow. Some nausea from time to time. |
| Bottom Line: | I took 800mg 2x/day for 8 weeks, now I'm at half that and being weaned off. Very effective for my severe acne. I had been on topicals for 7 weeks prior to that and it wasn't clearing me up enough. This cleared me up the rest of the way. I now get about 1 pimple a week. I apparently am alergic to tetracyclines so I can't take minocycline, doxicyline or tetracycline. This is a good alternative if you have problems or bad side effects from those drugs. |

| Pros: | My face was 1/2 clear. |
| Cons: | After 1 month, the dang stuff gave me a rash!!!
I had a little bit of nausea, fatigue. |
| Bottom Line: | My face wouldn't clear up all the way because my acne is HORMONAL. Once I got on some hormonal balancing cream, half my acne disappeared which explains why Bactrim was only able to help with some of my acne.
What is not cool is the blue, spotty rash I've have on both my arms since 1-2 months ago when I stopped taking this stuff. |
