Pros: Works slightly with high dosage, no bad side effects Cons: Does not work on chest, shoulder or back acne. Bottom Line: Have used this for nearly 6 weeks now with little improvement and have even increased my dosage to taking 6 double strength pills per day. Anybody who is taking this for body acne is definitely better off skipping this and going straight to Accutane. Recommended: No Usage: B has used this item for about a month. Pros: Eventually works with a high dosage. Cons: Takes a while to work. Doesn't cure acne, just controlls it. Bottom Line: It made acne significantly worse for the first month of taking it. Increased dosage to 6 double strength pills a day and the acne has finally begun to calm down on chest and face. Recommended: Yes Usage: JB has used this item for about a month. Pros: No bad side effects for me. Cons: It was like taking a sugar pill. No effect on my acne. Bottom Line: For some people it seemed this worked great. My acne may have been too severe for Bactrim to work. I'm currently taking 60 mg accutane, let's hope that does the job! Recommended: Yes Usage: nikkia has used this item for a few months. Pros: Worked to clear cystic acne when topical agents were ineffective for me (40 year old female ). Highly recommend Bactrim for moderate to severe acne. Cons: Must drink 8-10 glasses of water a day in addition to taking 1-2 pills per day. Long term use of antibiotic requires doctor supervision and blood testing for toxicity/depletion of red and white blood cells. Bottom Line: The antibiotic contains Sulfamethoxazole, so should not be used by individual's with sulfa allergies. This ingredient in Bactrim requires water consumption water to prevent kidney stones. (REALLY IMPORTANT to drink 8 ounces of water with the pill and do not take diuretics with antibiotic). The antibiotic also uses Trimethoprim which may cause anemia from a deficiency of folic acid. Bottom line is Bactrim can be very effective, but with the potential side effects (especially the disruption of folic acid metabolism) it should be the option after other non-prescription solutions have been ruled out. Pros: Take it! it work!! ^___^ Cons: Well, i haven't feel any side-effects SO dont Worry!! Bottom Line: Omg! i am so happy because my face is so clean and soft ^___^ now i can go outside and have fun, i have taking the medicine about 3 months and is awesome. Pros: Works very well for the first 4 months for me. I was waking up every morning and did not have to pop any zits for the first time in years, was a great feeling, after the th month starting breaking out again...who knows if this is the answer. Cons: Not a guarantee, but works better than not using it! Bottom Line: try it its better than doxy, tetra, or mini...too scared to g on accutane and dont like getting blood work every month for it! Pros: WORKS WELL; FACE DIDN'T HURT AS MUCH, RARELY HAD ACNE ON NECK, CHEST, AND BACK WHILE TAKING IT Cons: IT WAS AN INCONVIENCE TO TAKE 2 PILLS A DAY; DIDN'T LIKE TAKING ANTIBIOTICS OVER LENGTH OF TIME, DIDN'T CLEAR COMPLETELY Bottom Line: BEST THING I USED BEFORE ACCUTANE BUT DIDN'T LIKE THE FACT OF TAKING AN ANTIBIOTIC FOR AS LONG AS I DID. Pros: i have had great results with the medication! my derm put me on it for 3 months, and i had about a 3 month remission, then went back on it. I am now on my fourth cycle....has anyone else used bactrim this way, or over a long period of time? Cons: i woke up with a huge cyst this morning and am worried maybe bactrim isnt going to work for me anymore! does anyone have an experience/advice? Pros: Cleared my skin up! Cons: Huge Pill!! Bottom Line: I have HUGE cysts on my face from a severe bacteria infection and within a few weeks, I think I have been using it for two now...I DO NOT have new breakouts and my skin is actually healing. Take this advice from me because I have tried EVERYTHING..proactiv, clinique, origins, murad, neutrogena, and everything in between...this stuff works great! Ask your dematologist for some! Pros: I started out taking 2 a day and drinking a lot of water, I started noticing results withen the first 3 days so I cut back to one pill a day and drank about a gallon of water a day and withen two weeks I had the clearest skin I've ever had!
