Pros: I've tried EVERYTHING to clear up my acne on my back, chest, and face and nothing has worked but this. And it works VERY well while you take it. I experienced no negative side effects that i know of. Cons: Only works while you take it. Doesn't permanantly get rid of your acne. When you stop taking it, you break out BAD. But I've been taking it for six months and haven't experienced anything bad so as long as I keep taking it I'm good! Bottom Line: It works very well. I highly recommend it! Pros: Clears skin fast. I havent had any breakouts what so ever since starting. Seriously not one new spot. I am amazed its crazy, ive been on other antibiotics but nothing compares to Bactrim DS. Im only taking it until I go on Accutane 5 weeks from now. Cons: Give's me a yeast infection, so I dont want to stay on it for too long. I dont like the ideal of taking antibiotics for long periods of time. Im gonna do Accutane and get it over with. I am clear now but once I stop the Bactrim I will break out. Bottom Line: This stuff works and fast so its worth a shot, especially if you have something important coming up in a few weeks. Some people are allergic to it so be careful. Im all good though except for the whole yeast infection but im taking care of that and also bought some yogurt which will help too. Pros: it worked from the day i started until the day i quit. really did clear up my acne which made me so ecstatic Cons: two weeks later i had a severe allergic reaction. first i had fevers and body aches, then i broke out into a whole body rash. Bottom Line: this was actually the first product that has ever made my face so clear. it felt so uplifting. but then i had a severe allergic reaction to it, so i stopped taking it. my dermatologist had warned me about it, but i'm not allergic to anything so i thought that i wouldn't be allergic to sulfa drugs. i started breaking out a little bit after stopping, but its not as bad as how my acne was before. i've been just using retin a cream, which didn't work before, but now it is. i also used minocycline before this and that did nothing but worsen my acne. bactrim works, but its a risk with having a reaction or not. Pros: IT DEFINATELY WORKS. I STARTED GETTING ACNE AFTER I HAD MY SON AND THE DR. PUT IN AN IUD. AFTER THAN MY SKIN WENT TO HELL. SORRY FOR THE WORD BUT THATS WHAT HAPPEN. I HAVE NEVER HAD PROBLEMS WITH ACNE BEFORE. Cons: I REALLY HAVE NONE OTHER THAN LARGE PILL AND IT WILL CAUSE NAUSEA IF YOU DON'T EAT BEFORE OR DURING THE TIME YOU TAKE IT Bottom Line: IT REALLY WORKS BUT THE ONLY CONCERN I HAVE IS TAKING AN ANTIBIOTIC FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME SO I AM DOING RESEACH ON THIS ANTIBIOTIC ONLY. I USED PREVIOUSLY BUT HAD TO QUIT BECAUSE I HAD A BABY AND STARTED BACK A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO AND RIGHT NOW I AM NOT TAKING IT BUT AM STILL CONCERNED ABOUT MY SKIN SO I WILL PROBABLY TAKE IT FOR A WHILE QUIT GO BACK TO IT.ECT... Pros: Excellent- I thought I had given up, but this really works! I'm taking half the pill a day (half pill morning, half-at night Cons: constipation is an issue if you're prescribed Double the dosage for severe acne, which is what I had- but it only lasts for couple days. This medication has barely any side-effects! Bottom Line: Easy, VERY cheap (i pay zero with my insurance!!)-- I have school insurance..and bottom line- IT WORKS! so everyone, go ask your dermatologist for a prescription! Pros: Begins to work straight away. Basically stops any spots you get from turning red, and they heal very fast. Cons: Sometimes forgetting to take the pills because you forget you even suffer from acne with this stuff Bottom Line: Trimethoprim works fast and very effective. The only thing I have ever taken or used that has made any difference. Been taking for three years and had no side effects. Came off it for a short while and skin gradually got worse again. Pros: This medicine works! I have done everything. you name it i've done it...literally. My acne is under the skin so it's a little more complicated to heal but this medicine knocks it out. Cons: IF you miss a day of taking this medicine you will have a break-out. Makes mouth dry. Bottom Line: I've tired everything under the sun for acne. it's hopeless to cure my acne with a ointment or a fash wash...won't happen this is my only choice in not having acne. Pros: I am now well into my 10th day of taking bactrim and it is just starting to work noticeably. My nodular acne is getting smaller. I have been taking this as a temporary treatment before I start accutane. Cons: Takes awhile to start working. Bottom Line: Give it a try, its cheap... you don't have much to lose except the acne. Pros: I guess it worked a little bit. Cons: Huge pill, nausea, Bottom Line: Most people said this worked for them but it DID NOT work for me. I didn't have an allergic reaction but its almost like it didn't affect my skin at all. And it made me lose weight like crazy. Which shouldn't be a problem but for someone already being 20-30 pounds underweight it was quite an issue for me. You think for all those side effects it'd work like a mirace but nooope, not for me.
