Great medication. I have used it consistently for two years (DS) and worked wonderfully well. Stopped taking it per my new MD's order six months ago and all of the acne symptoms came back with a vengence. ARGH.... it worked while it lasted.

Bactrim was the ONLY antibiotic that cleared me up. I still get the occasional pimple, but it's nothing like it used to be. I'm currently weaning off of Bactrim... so far, I haven't seen much of a break out now that I've lowered my dosage. I think now that I'm clear, the tazorac is keeping the new pimples at bay.

I tried everything before Bactrim and nothing worked. I started taking it about 2 years ago and stopped treatment last year and I'm all cleared up. Go get a prescription! It's a godsend!

I started Septra along with Tazorac and BP 5% 2 weeks ago and can not believe the improvement in my skin. I went from a deep depression and feeling like I couldn't leave the house to my old self and ready to go out with friends in just 2 weeks. I was using other antibiotics with Retin A and was having terrible breakouts for about 6 weeks straight. I think the Tazorac is still pulling pimples to the surface but the Septra is killing the bacteria so no more huge gross white pimples. I still have red marks which I'm hoping the Tazorac will help fade, but they can be covered with makeup. So far I love Septra, I hope my results continue :)

batrim was the first pill that worked for me after trying doxy, mino, and tetra with no progress. my derm called bactrim the "big guns" and i agree. my face the best it has been in a very long time. bactrim has stopped all new acne from developing and right now im just dealing with some old spots from a month ago. with me, there has been absolutely no side effects. im hoping this progress will last. its also much cheaper. with insurance it only cost me 5 bucks for a month supply. way way worth it.

worked the best out of every anti biotic taken orally. It has the lowest resistance levels and i was able to take it for 2 years. Also, if you switch for a couple of months, you can go back on it with the same effectiveness. It is definately the best, and it doesnt have the photosensitivity like doxycycline. I had no side effects. I am from england so i dont know if its expensive or not, as i get it on prescription for £6. if you aint tried it then do so.

I first started seeing my dermatologist at the age of 8. Started on the minor, weak antibiotics (tetracycline) and gradually progressed. Septra, a sulphonomide, worked the best for me...I eventually progressed to Accutane at the age of 17, but could not finish the full Accutane course, as it had serious effects on my body. Luckily, I still benefitted from the Accutane, as my cystic acne was DRASTICALLY reduced. No major problems or concerns until this year, at the age of 26. I'd have minor breakouts over the years, but around February the cystic acne returned. I just visited the dermatologist, who determined that we should try Bactrim again, before attempting another course of Accutane (9 years later!). The Septra was the best thing for me, short of the big dog Accutane. Good luck.
