Unfortunately, Bactrim didn't work quite as well as I was expecting. I'm now 21, and I've been battling acne since adolescene. The only thing that ever worked for me in the past was Accutane, but after a couple of years my acne came back even stronger. I started seeing a dermatologist again, who had me try to lighter regimens I had never previously tried, but none of them worked. Bactrim worked slightly better than anything else, but not to the extent that I had hoped. I noticed I never got any whiteheads while taking it, which I used to get all the time. (In fact, as soon as I stopped the Bactim, whiteheads formed immediately the next day.) However, I still got blackheads and cystic formations that inevitably left scars. In addition, I got the worst side effects with this than any other meds in the past: headaches, slight itching, even trouble sleeping. Because I did not have full remission, and because of the side effects, I feel I have to return to Accutane. Side effects maybe be equal, but it gets the job done.

After going on Minocycline for 2 months, I was exposed to a more humid climate for a few months, and very quickly i noticed the minocycline stopped working. I was then prescribed bactrim, and here's what it did for me: I noticed that it prevented me from getting a lot of new whiteheads, but when i did get the odd one, it would leave a marks on my face that has still not gone to this day (3 months later). It's great that it, for the most part, stops breakouts, but when i do get the odd zit or pimple, i have to look at it for months on end, not sure when these spots are going to go away. Gonna try and go back on the minocycline and see if that works, i could handle a few zits a month if it meant the spots would clear up in a few days like they used to.
