Well let me just tell you guys, I guess the med works. I mean I don't have any face acne on my cheeks under my eyes anymore, so bactrim does work in that area. Although for my head I haven't noticed that much of a result. I do also use tretinoin cream which I know could show promising results, I stay in doors alot so I'm pretty lucky. For those trying tretinoin and actually go to school just kick it out of your options. The stuff drys your skin so bad. I don't believe any sane person would be able to use it and continue to have a social life, if one had one before attempting the face cream lol. Now, bactrim may work..I haven't been on it enough to see big results, little less then a month I believe. Will be updating prolly never, lol. Just put in a good word perhaps I've helped some of you. By the way I have pretty much mild acne. On my whole face I'd say I have about 6 just in random places on the top of my head, a few next to my eye brawl, but not that much, mostly a tab brown. I know with the proper actions and with more days past they will also go away. Besides I'm quite logical. If you notice yourself get sick while on this med, stop taking it, although if your tum hurts when you 1st start taking it, ignore that because mine did aswell.

This did wonders in clearing up my skin, but I am one of the unfortunate few who is allergic to the medication. =\ At the time of my medication, I was also suffering heat rash (California is EXTREMELY hot this summer) ... so my skin dried out even more. My acne cleared up real quickly, but my throat, arms, and wrists dried up even more. I had to be picky with my moisturizers because most of them aggravated my itchy and dry skin. One evening, I made a huge mistake in taking a hot bath (I was attempting to soothe sore muscles) and I ended up getting a fever that evening! My face kept getting hotter and hotter ... and I could not sleep that evening. While getting up to use the restroom, I passed out from extreme nausea and dehydration. The following morning, I awoke with red discolorations all over my torso and legs. Not only that, my body was very swollen. My face was beet red and it took about a week for it all to go away. I stopped the medication after that morning.
Falling asleep was also a difficult routine ... I often got prickly skin in the evening so I usually fell asleep from exhaustion. =\
This medication does its job in getting rid of acne ... but just make sure you're not allergic to it.
I am now taking Cephalexin and I have yet to see its results. So far ... my skin is back to how it used to be (oily), but I feel a lot better physically.

I have suffered from acne for many years, as have many of my family members, including my father who still takes antibiotics for acne at 60! Tried lots of medications, Minocycline I found to be excellent but can interfere with contraceptive pill so was prescribed Trimethroprim (on its own, no sulfamethoxazole) and this has been fantastic, slight side effects at start when drinking alcohol; caused severe nausea next day but this has seemed to stop after approx a month or two, have been taking for approx 4/5 months now and never get any spots/pimples anymore, I would recommend highly and maybe that would suit the person who was allergic to the sulfur, Only thing I'm worried about now is whether it will return when I finish the course....
