Pros:i've used it for 2 years & it has kept my acne away. i've suffered w/ acne since my teens & into my 20's. my dermatologist recommended i use the azelex w/ nicosyn (another topical acne cream) & they work well w/ my skin. forget retin-A or differin
Cons:none. when i first tried it, i didn't have any irritation. just the fact that my pimples dried up & shrunk. i saw a big difference in two weeks and the patches of redness went away.
Bottom Line:i've tried everything from retin-A, drug store brands, department store products to proactive. azelex and nicosyn really work. i guess i finally met the right dermatologist who actually listened & suggested the right treatment. i ran out of my medication & actually my skin is doing well on it's own, now. funny to say, but...it's been 4 years i haven't used it. i am now 29 & i guess i grew out of the acne stage. i just wanted to comment on how these products worked so well for me that now i don't need it anymore. only thing i wish is i had found the products when i was in high school when my acne was at it's worse. red and painful. i trully recommend these treatments because it's gentle and it works.

Pros:Essentially cleared up the disaster that Retin-A Micro made of my face. Within 5 days, my scars lightened, I have not developed any new acne, and the old acne is disappearing. What would I do without it?
Cons:Itchiness, but I hear it goes away. And well worth it, if you ask me.
Bottom Line:Finacea 15% is a miracle drug.
Recommended:Yes
Usage:Jane has used this item for about a week.

Pros:I saw a difference after one day of using it.
My old scars seemed lighter and more even. Acne dries up without drying out your face. I thought it wasn't working at first because my face wasn't dry. Only cost me $10 with insurance.
Cons:none
Bottom Line:everyone is different, but it works great for me.

Pros:Clears skin nicely (I have cystic acne), evens out skin tone
Cons:Slight burning/itching for a few minutes after application.
Bottom Line:Great product, works very well.

It's not available 'pre-made' in Canada yet, so you have to find a pharmacist who makes "Magistrale" or "Compounds".

Pros:I use the 15% azelaic acid product (Finacea) I had no irritation or initial breakout like I got with retinoids.
Cons:My insurance does not cover it, so its pricey to pay for it out-of-pocket.
Bottom Line:It works great in combination with my other over the counter acne products. I like that it addresses multiple causal factors of acne - it prevents comedone formation, kills the acne bacteria, reduces inflamation, and helps fade red marks from past breakouts.
Recommended:Yes

Pros:I love it! I went to work right away without any itching, peeling, or redness. I works wonderfully under moisturizer and/or make-up and it also gives skin a smooth and clear appearance. I also love it because it's non-drying, stainless, and odorless.
Cons:My only issue was a very mild tingling at application for the first week or so. Other than that, nothing.
Bottom Line:This works the fastest, and gives the least amount of side offects than anything i've tried in the past. Definitily recommended.

Pros:Has cleared up clogged pores and reduced the life of cystic bumps. My skins hasn't peel or become red. Towels & bed sheets are bleached. I can use make up without issues (after the burning/itching stops).
Cons:It itches and burns for 10-15 minutes everytime I apply. It's a bit expensive with my insurance - $50 a tube - which lasts about 3 months. Boyfriend can't kiss me anywhere on my face after I apply.
Bottom Line:I love this product simply because it doesn't stain my towels or bed sheets. It has cleared up my acne and reduced clogged pores. I don't break out as often. When I do get a pimple/cystic bump, it leaves a much lighter mark on my face. I've been using for about 8 months. It still burns and itches, but worth the price for clearer skin.
Recommended:Yes
Usage:Patricia has used this item for about a year.

Pros:It seems to help prevent acne without irritating my skin at all. I would definitely recommend trying azelaic acid.
Cons:expensive! a tube of brand name Finacea cost me $90. one tube seems to be lasting about 2-3 months with twice a day application. But, I have no other cons to speak of! That's unusual for any kind of acne treatment.
Bottom Line:It's hard to tell, but my azelaic acid topical cream (Finacea) seems to be helping prevent acne for me. I have sensitive skin, and yet it doesn't cause any itching or burning unless my skin is very dry. I use Cetaphil lotion with Finacea. I also apply it underneath my makeup and it doesn't clump up or anything. It's as if the Finacea isn't there. It also doesn't have an obnoxious smell or any color. I see no down side to using it except the price.
