Azelaic Acid (I use Skinoren) is the best acne topical I've tried and I've used Retin-A, Differin, various topical antibiotics, salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and glycolic acid. Azelaic Acid is antibacterial, exfoliating, and anti-inflammatory. It also helps fade marks left over from past breakouts. I don't know any other product that can do all this. It left me a bit itchy for a few minutes during the first week or so but then side effect quickly subsided. Great stuff!

I used this product only briefly (around 3 months). It didn't really work at all for me. I always haad lesions on my face. I used it in coordination with Retin-a (0.05% cream). In short,

I've used Azelex for over a year now and it's great. I've seen a huge improvement in my acne and people comment on how smooth and clear my complexion is. I apply it at night after washing with Cetaphil (no water, wipe off method). Then I apply Vaseline. The Vaseline reduces the burning and moisturizes. Most people don't realize that Vaseline is non-comedogenic and won't cause additional breakouts so it's great in combination with Azelex. I also use Retin-A Micro once a week on Sunday evenings only and I also use Vaseline after using it as well. This has made a huge difference for me. I'm thrilled with the results.

Is excellent in getting rid of red marks from old acne. Has been the only thing to keep my skin clear. Must use 2x daily to see results, and it does burn and itch a bit. Totally worth it though.

I have been on EVERYTHING (including Accutane and other antibiotics), and this is no better than other Rx creams. My face got worse before it got slightly better and the Azelex is HORRIBLE with cysts!!! BP + moisturizer works a heck of a lot better and is much more reasonably priced!!! Who cares if it gets the "zits" to "go away"....why not PREVENT them in the first place!!! :)

I have been using Azelaic Acid for about 3 months however I was also taking erthromycin and it did clear up my skin. I have very oily and acne prone skin. However I am off the antibiotics and I have more acne but the Azelaic does keep it from getting out of hand. I am still not totally satisfied but it is the only solution for right now. Also is burns like hell for about 10 minutes even after a couple of months

I have been using Azelex for years now to treat the whiteheads and blackheads on my face, chest and back. Between switching to Brevicon (Necon) birth control pills, using a salcylic acid body wash and the azelex acid, my acne has almost completely cleared up. I still have occasional break outs but they are few and far between and extremely mild compared to what my acne used to be.

I've been using Azelex cream for a few years now. I have the type of acne that comes from below the skin and manifests itself in huge cysts. I thought this stuff would never work, but at first, it did! My skin nearly completely cleared up for about six months! But recently I have had a bad breakout and this stuff doesn't seem to work anymore. It sort of shrinks the zits, but they look the same.
